I have Windows 2000 and use internet explorer (but the problem also happened when using aol).

I am not able to log into certain websites. I can see my bank account and credit card sites, but I can't log into disneyshopping.com (for example; there's other sites).

All I get is a "page cannot be displayed" message.

I have cleared my cache, but I still get the same message.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

We had a similar problem not too long ago and it turned out to be our wireless router. We were able to fix it in the short-term, but the problem kept recurring until we finally had to get a new router. Call your internet provider and see if they can run you through some help protocol.

Check your 'cookie' folder and empty it also.

Sometimes the glitch is in there.

Good luck!!

I can view the Disney site, but I can't log on.

I don't think it's my ISP (DSL), because I had the same problem when I had aol (dial up).

I have cleared my cookies, files, everything.

It just seems that certain sites I can't log into (as long as I don't try to log in I can see the site. I can't buy anything from Disneyshopping though, even if I don't log in).

Any ideas? No one else seems to know.

Some sites require Java to function. If your computer doesn't have Java installed, or you have your Internet Explorer security settings set too high, it might prevent those sites from functioning.

Go to Start->Settings and see if you have a Java icon -- it looks like a cup of coffee.

Also check your Internet Explorer security settings to see if you have activex and java scripting turned on. (Same place you went to clear your cache, but click on the Security tab. Then, check what settings are set for the Internet zone.)

Finally, check your security settings to see if your computer is set to do an automatic log in for the Internet zone. If so, Internet Explorer may be trying to automatically log you into the site using the wrong username or password.

I had same problem last few days where I was unable to access certain websites (target, hotmail, etc) from either netscape or internet explorer. I unplugged my router last night for a few seconds and it fixed the problem.

I did all of that and it still isn't working. Any other ideas?

Are you accepting cookies from those sites? Is your security level set to "high", you may need to manually override cookins for some sites. In IE, go to TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, PRIVACY, SITES and enter the site and ALLOW for Disneyshopping (and all Disney sites) it is go.com, not Disney.com

Yes I am allowing cookies.

Anyone else have any ideas? I am ready to throw my computer out the window.

AOL uses an IE based browser, so its not surprising that its happened with both. Have you tried using an non-IE browser (Firefox, Netscape, etc?) and see if the same thing happens?

curiouser, you are a genius!! I am using Netscape and so far it seems to have fixed the problem.

Thanks to everyone for the help!!
