It was working just fine yesterday & then sometime in the evening it started asking for the wifi password. Which I entered (assuming its the same as my laptop password - its the same named network) but I can't log on

I've tried resetting it - by going to settings & resetting & of course I've made sure it said WIFI was on.

I don't see anything else to try on Apple's troubleshooting site.

Any ideas?

Does your password have upper and lower case letters? I got caught with that once.

I copied my password to a "Note" on my iPod touch. When I need to reenter it, I copy/paste it from there.

My passwords are different. Not sure why, but they are.

This happened to me about 1 month ago. Not sure wha happened. One day it worked, the next day it didn't. I ended up having my 18yo nephew work on it. Took him a few mins.

What are you calling your laptop password? The one you use to log on to windows or the one you use to log onto your home network? Your windows password and network password are most likely NOT the same. Your network password is also known as a "key" that you would have setup when you setup your home wireless network. This is the password the iTouch is looking for.

You probably need to reset you wireless router. Do this by turning off the wireless router for a couple of minutes and then turning it back on. After turning it back on let it sit for about 2 minutes to reconnect to the internet. Periodically this needs to be done for numerous reasons. Everytime I start having problems with my Ipod not connecting this fixes it.

You might also turn off the Ipod and turn it back on. It doesn't hurt and sometimes the problem can be with a protocol in the Ipod.

Did you rule out that it's not the router? Can you access the web on a laptop wirelessly?

I don't know of an apple store nearby - I'll have to check

Yes, I've tried all combos of password - with & without caps - NADA

I've turned it off & on & charged it

I was sitting with the laptop in my lap & my itouch in my hand & the laptop worked normally but no itouch. :confused3

I'm using the password that I use to log into my laptop when it comes on.

Ok - I'll try again -with every number I have written down - one of them has to work - LOL

I tried the one I had listed as a security code (it was a bunch of letters& #'s)

It was the security code (which I tried - but didn't try with capitals)

SO YAY!

Y'all are the bestest! :cheer2:

That's what it was looking for.

(See my previous post about saving the router code on the iPod. You will occasionally be asked for it and having it handy is handy!)
