HELP! can you wash a vera bradley bag??

I was carrying DS who had dirty, snowy boots on into the hospital for his sleep study...you guessed it, his boots ended up on my bag i tried wiping it with a damp cloth, but I can still see a little dirt. Did I mention this is my brand new...as in had it less than a week....cargo sling that I bought for our trip. Good thing we were in a hospital b/c I felt ill I asked DH if he could see the dirt, of course he said no, then he says "what's the big deal, just wash it" he has no idea how much I paid for it and I don't really want to say "no dear, i can't just toss it in the washer" i bought the bag when DH was at the casino. he came home and said he lost $$ and said it's okay, just don't question what comes in the mail the next few days But I digress. can it be washed? how??? and has anyone personally done this? I googled it and came up with a few suggestions but I want to hear from someone who's BTDT.

Yes your Vera Bradley can be washed!! All of my bags that have a cardboard inset for the bottom to keep them flat even come with a special tag that reminds you to take out the cardboard before washing. I have used the gentle cycle on cold and woolite for my bags. I'm sure you can hand wash instead. I didn't use the dryer...I just air dry and they are as good as new.

I even got coffee out of my "Java Blue" purse....ha ha "Java" Blue and coffee!!!

I usually just put mine inside of a pillow case and tie it shut. They always come out fine.

I throw mine in the washer. (making sure to take the cardboard thingy out!!) all the time.

I've washed mine also and let it air dry
