Help! Can I even buy a dining plan?

Hi all.

Before going through the hassle of calling Disney, I thought I'd check with the experts here to see if anyone can answer my question.

My dds (6&8), hubby and I are going to MK for one day only in December. We will be arriving around 8 pm on a Wednesday night, going to MK on Thursday and checking out on Friday.

We are staying at AS Sports... is it even possible for us to buy a dining plan for the time we're there? Getting in that late, can we only get two days worth of credits (4 meals, 2 snacks) or would we be forced to get three days?

If we can get only two, I was thinking we would use three credits on our full day (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and then the fourth credit on Friday morning for breakfast.

Is this even possible and if so, is it recommended over using cash?

Thanks for all who provide input and advice, really appreciated!!

Yes, you can get a dining plan on any package, even a one night package. The reservation must be a package. You cannot add a dining plan to a room-only reservation without changing it to a package.

However. If you are not an annual passholder or eligible for the military discount, you must purchase at least a 1 day park ticket as part of the package. You haven't said anything about your plans for getting park tickets, so I don't know how that fits in.

Credit allocations are based on how many nights you stay, not days. If you stay 2 nights on the regular dining plan you will have 2 TS, 2 CS and 2 snacks per person for the whole stay.

As to whether it is recommended over using cash, that will depend on where you want to eat and how much you would spend on those meals if you were not using the plan.

The dining plan would be for 2 days. You get the credits for each night you are staying, not the days you will be there.

OK - thanks so much for the advice.

We haven't purchased our one day tix yet - was going to do it day of since we plan on arriving at the park early but it might be worth the call to Disney to see if I can now purchase it along with the dining plan in order to create a package.

We are planning on eating onsite at Disney during our time there so assuming it works out to similar or less money, I'm thinking the dining plan works for us. Will have to look at the numbers based on where I think we'll eat various meals and their prices, but I like the no cash hassle.

Thanks again!
