Hi! So, I thought my ADRs were all planned out...but now the BFF is throwing a kink in my planning. We decided to do two signatures this trip (one each that we haven't been to) and ended up with Artist Point and Cali Grill. Now BFF has decided that she really wants to go to Jiko. I've been to Jiko and loved it both times, but she tends to be a pretty picky eater and I'm not 100% sure if she'll be able to find anything to eat or not:confused3 I've never been to Cali Grill for one reason or another in all my trips so I can't really compare the two. She's been to Cali, and at first I tried really hard to talk her out of Jiko, but now I'm thinking that since she's been to Cali and would rather go somewhere else maybe I should just go with it and let her switch it:confused3 Please help:flower3:

Go to Jiko. Whenever someone really wants to do something, they are inclined to enjoy it.

I've been to both and frankly, thought the food at both was so good, I couldn't say one was better than the other based on food alone. Cali Grill has wonderful well prepared food. Flatbread appies are at both. Filet is at both. Lamb. Fish. Cali menu tends to change a lot from what I hear, so I'm not sure exactly, but basically, menu items that are focused on a protein of some sort which sides will be familiar to your friend.

If your friend loves Cali Grill, I'm sure she will be fine at Jiko. The calibre of Jiko is such that if there is ANYTHING that your friend finds remoting appealing, they can tweak the preparation so suit her.

We're going to both because we couldn't decide so I would be of absolutely no help to you! Hahaha.

I've been to both and loved them. Both have fabulous food, and great service. You might be interested in a culinary tour at AKL. I think that it was offered daily when I've stayed, it was a free tour, and they took us to Boma and Jiko and explained the menus a bit, and I seem to remember little samples of appetizers.
Jiko is my DH favorite restaurant, he wants to go at least once on each trip...and he is a European trained chef... their signature dish was a steak with mac and cheese, it's Disney, I'm sure they are used to picky eaters!

You're pitting my favorite restaurant in the World against my second favorite. But Jiko gets my vote. Your picky friend will be able to find something on the menu that she likes, and I think that the restaurant theming there is much more interesting than that of the California Grill.

Both are amazing!! I love Cali Grill just a little more (its nicer to my taste palette):goodvibes But really, you can't go wrong with either.

Jiko's chicken w/goat cheese mash & filet mignon w/mac-n-cheese is DELISHH!! I also love the flatbread with goat cheese and kalamata olives!!! (where's that drooling smiley?!)

going to CG Christmas :santa: eve gan this year, I thought everything about it was exellent, servers, food the feeling of being on the top of the world, loved loved loved it

If she really prefers Jiko, go there. Otherwise, I'd pick Cali Grill. They are both amazing; I just prefer the entire experience of Cali Grill over Jiko.

Taking the sushi and view out of the equation, I think Jiko has consistently provided me with better food and service. Ca Grill has a better selection of appetizers although they aren't any better than Jiko's more limited selection, but the entrees at Jiko are better. I'd give the nod on desserts to Ca Grill though.

CG has the best filet I've ever tried and their appetizers rock!

Jiko has a cozier atmosphere and the food is good there, too. imo, Jiko is behind CG and Citricos but it's certainly no counter service! :)

Same for me and DH! Jiko is our #1 and Cali Grill #2. It's very close between them. The theme at Jiko is the unusual element that puts it in first place for us. Also, they have the bbq chicken flatbread that I can't get anywhere else in the world. A picky eater would love it! I know I do.

As I'm sure you know the Flatbreads are to die for.

Cal Grill is way behind Jiko

Plus IHO the service and servers knowledge is hands down far superior at Jiko.

--sorry ducky couldn't resist, I just feel the exact opposite of you on this.

:)

That's why there are always threads like this. Some things are better to others at different places.

I prefer Jiko and am a fairly picky eater.
