My DH and I are going to Vegas with a couple friends. My friend wants me to book as cheap as possible as they don't have a ton of money but she also does not want to stay in a dump. This is the first trip her DH and her have taken in their 14 year marriage. She wants me to book the whole thing because it's a surprise for her hubby and she is very nervous about traveling. I like the MGM or maybe even New York new York but I think the Luxor or Excalibur are more her budget range. Any advice? Whats the best "cheap" hotel? Where can I find the best deals?

What dates are you planning on going? These are important as some dates tend to be more expensive than others. Sometimes there are big events or concerts in town. For example: The Country Music Awards or IHeartRadio Music Festival. These draw large crowds.

Are you planning on going during a weekend? If so, expect hotels to be more expensive. If you can go during the week, rates are always much cheaper and you can find some great deals.

I would keep away from Luxor and Excalibur. I've read some bad reviews lately. I've seem some pretty decent rates lately for NY NY and MGM Grand. Monte Carlo and Mandalay Bay are pretty nice as well. Not the best, but certainly not a dump. Most people find the downside to Mandalay Bay is that it's on the end of the strip. Love the pool here.

Flamingo recently renovated a good portion of the rooms at their hotel. That might be worth looking at as well. Paris and Planet Hollywood offer some good rates. I've always enjoyed Mirage as well.

Sign up for the Players club cards and email alerts. There are times they will offer you great rates on the rooms.

M LIFE is one card for the following hotels/casinos: Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, NY NY, Monte Carlo, Aria, Bellagio, Mirage, Circus Circus and MGM Grand.

Total Rewards is for: Caesar's Palace, Harrah's, Flamingo, Bally's, The Quad, Paris, Planet Hollywood and Rio (off strip).

Hope this helps.

My choices would be Flamingo (Go Room), Monte Carlo, Mirage or TI. Stay away from the quad & Excalibur. check vegaschatter.com and vegasmeassageboards.com. Sign up at websites for deals.

We are going May 22-26. I will check out those sites. We stayed at mgm last June and liked it.

Which would u choose between Monte Carlo and Mandalay? I've alway thought the Flamingo looked run down for some reason.

I don't know your budget, but check out the Desert Rose. We always stay there. They have full kitchens, 1 and 2 bedrooms. Free breakfast everyday. Pool and Jacuzzi , and Gym. Barbeques are available . It is located right behind Hooters and the Tropicana. They do have specials.

Mandalay bay, even though its on the one end of the strip it has some nice pools

Most of my rewards are through Total Rewards, so I tend to stay at Bally's. The cheaper rooms are not as nice as the ones in the more expensive tower. The pluses are that it's Vegas, so you won't be spending a lot of time in the room. And you're adjacent to Paris, so you have the shops, restaurants and theming from that hotel.

I don't know about M Life, but she could join Total Rewards now and earn some points through their offers, then maybe get a room upgrade at Bally's Flamingo or Planet Hollywood. The PH location isn't great, but the rooms are pretty decent, because it's a newer hotel.

For the ease of getting around, Monte Carlo. As Nicolita stated, MB is at the end of the strip. There is a free tram that connects MB, Luxor and Excalibur.

There is also a free tram that connects MC, Aria and Bellagio.

MB does seem to have the better pools, but MC is closer to the strip.
