Help booking for October

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for me. I'm trying to book a deluxe hotel for 10 days in October and all of the deluxe hotels are full for the dates I was looking at going for. Are cancelations common, if so does the website update when that happens or do you have to call there customer service line and hope you get lucky... If not then there is always next year right

Depending on your dates, you may be overlapping the Gartner Conference, which has very large blocks of rooms at many Deluxe resorts booked by conventioneers. October is very heavily booked otherwise as well.

I wouldn't count on cancellations. I'd look for split-stays, if you have set dates, or consider shifting dates.

Mh. What dates are you trying to go?

You can also go to the website and try to book a split stay and see what happens that way. Try looking for 5 days at one deluxe, and 5 days for another. The other thing too is to watch if you are doing it that way, if you are trying it under any promos. For example, in Oct, Disney has "back to school savings", but if you look at the deluxes, it will say that some of them do not have any rooms at all. If you change this to room only, you may see availability open up. That is paying rack rate, but you can certainly call to see if anything under the codes have opened up or switch your reservations if you need to.

You can also look under places like CheapTickets.com, etc.. the only thing there is, they do not have a very forgiving cancellation policy. So once you're in, from my experience, you are pretty much in.

(October 16-20, the Deluxes are basically packed for Gartner. So check around those dates, and if your 10 days includes those dates consider a split stay at a non-Deluxe.)

Even if just one night of your dates is unavailable it will show the whole 10 nights as unavailable. While cancellations do occur, for a 10 night period it can be difficult. As others have said, you can try splitting your dates and making more than one resort reservation, check with travel agents who might have room blocs available or try a third party booking site.

What is "Gartner"?

best,

It looks like its a firm? If you google, Gartner conference, it should pop up for you. They have them all the time all over the country. It just so happens, they'll be at Disney for 4 days.

I will take you advice and try and get different days off at work

Gartner is an IT and research company and consulting firm. Gartner attendees are very posh, thus why they all stay Deluxe.

You probably don't want to know what Gartner reports or data feed access costs if you are unfamiliar. They're a $2B company.

You could try renting DVC points. October is a popular time, but you may be able to find availability at Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, or possibly Animal Kingdom Villas. Epcot area resorts will likely be booked solid due to Food & Wine.

Not for this October. Ship has sailed on availability for 10 days straight at any DVC resort. Yes, even Saratoga and OKW. This year has been cray-cray.

You're right, forgot that OP was looking for 10 days!

Even with a split stay.. if you take a look at the DVC buy/sell boards, there doesn't seem to be anything available for anytime in Oct.
I was able to rent points I think 2 weeks? back, for 3 days instead of six at the end of the month.. and a one bedroom instead of a studio. That was it.

Everytime we've been in Oct, crowds have been pretty reasonable. Makes me wonder what we are getting into this year... :scared1:
