Start researching your rights as a renter in the state of FL. I am sure there are books at the library. I know in Ohio the owner/management team only has x amount of days to fix issues, the amount of days varies based on how serious the issue is, and after that a renter can take certain actions.

Be polite and persistent and know your rights.

Good luck.

First check for a Landlord and Tenant Office in the city you live in, or if there is none check with the County. They should be able to (a) give you accurate free advice and (b) take your side in a dispute.

Sounds like my old apartment complex ...

I don't have any advice, but I would go over your lease agreement with a fine tooth comb. The squeaky wheel sort of thing. If this is a maintenance problem, you need to check your lease to see what is covered.

Our issue was our a/c leaking. Not just a little ... it would spew water and soak the carpets. In a two month period, maintenance would come at least once a week ... it was awful. I called nicely the first few times, but after that I had to end up getting a little mean. Stay on them, continuously. With a little bit of research, I found out our complex wasn't great at maintaining the buildings ... of course, I was already living there.

The appartment can be treated for mold. There is a spray that can be applied to the walls and floors to help prevent. There is also a meter that can be "inserted" (there are 2 prongs that go into the wall alittle ways it reminded me of a taser on a stick ;) ) to check for water in the walls.

We had a water pipe rupture and a toliet explode:rolleyes: in ahouse we owned. Our insurance sent out a company to treat for mold and repair and dry out the house. That is what they did.

Like the others have mentioned, need to know your rights. The biggie for you would be your DD health issues provided it is medically documented. They might let you move because of that.

It kinda sounds like the "repairs" were made, but not made correctly.
