Help, another Social Studies question..........

Some of you helped us last time, well we need help again. I'm not sure this is worded correctly, he says he can't read the teachers writing, and he won't ask to make sure he is writing down the correct thing.

A South American country, hoping to lead people to its sparsely populated interior built in 1956 – 1960. A splendid new city at 60 degrees S/48 degrees W. What is the city?

I have looked at his atlas and do not see anything at 60 degrees S - 48 degrees W. Am I blind or what.

If I remember correctly Brazil changed their capital from Rio to a new City that they started. I have forgotten the name but try looking in the country of Brazil.

The only mention I found in 1956 that far south would be the South Pole was set up as a resarch station... but that is a bit too far south... http://www.polar.org/Public/ant_basics.htm

Brasilia is the capital of Brazil. It is in the interior, but I am not sure if the coordinates line up. But you could maybe see if you can find the coordinates for Brasilia.

It's 15/16 S and 48 W... not 60, but 60 does put you in Antartica.
