Last Thursday I called and purchased APs. From the WDW website (https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/passholders/park-magic-band-pick-up/) and from the person I spoke to over the phone, I was assured that since I purchased my APs ahead of time, I will be able to select my MBs and have them shipped before my April trip. We're staying off-site so we won't have resort MBs.

I got my Exchange Certificate cards yesterday and linked everything to MDE. But when I went to customize MBs it wouldn't give me an option, only to link a purchased MB or a resort MB. When I called last night, I was told initially that I should be able to get my MBs then they put me on hold and changed it to now I have to activate my card in person and they'll ship it to my house but we won't be able to use it in April! :confused3

One of the main reasons we decided to go ahead and purchase the APs now was so we can get the MBs. I'm not paying for them as there's 6 of us and that's an additional expense I don't want to worry about. The APs are expensive enough! I was told to call the tickets line which opens at 8AM.

Does anyone who bought APs recently have any experience with this? Thanks for your help!

1. Sorry, that info is not correct.
(Phone CMs are not known for their ability to give correct info on complex issues.)

2. & 3. THAT is the correct procedure at this time.

4. Sorry that you didn't know about the procedure ahead of time.

5. The process of needing to FIRST go to WDW to get an active AP and THEN
(after that first trip) having the (customized by you) AP MagicBands shipped to your home for use on future trips
is the current procedure and has been the subject of many, many discussions on this board ever since the advent of the special AP MB.
Again, sorry that you didn't know about it earlier.

Thanks for the response. This is so frustrating! The link that I posted from the website also says that if I order MB's 10 days before the trip it should be shipped to the house. Am I reading it wrong?

Sort of.
The link is telling passholders how to proceed.
A passholder is a guest who already holds an active AP.
You have only purchased an AP voucher, and will not become an actual passholder
until after you have visited WDW and activated your new AP.
