Help! AKL or CBR?

Help! We are going 2 WDW ln 6 weeks and cannot decide whether to stay at Carribean Beach for 14 days or to stay at Pop and then move on to Animal Kingdom Lodge. what do you think.
we stayed at pop last year and had a wonderful time.

My favorite is CBR but maybe because that is where we spent our honeymoon. WE have been back to disney a couple of times, but now with kids we tend to go with the value resorts. We are going back in 2010 (10th anniversary) and plan to stay at CBR!
so my vote is for CBR!

I am partial to CBR. Just had a friend come back from POP and stated that they will never go back again. It depends what you are looking for in a resort. Have heard great things about Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Well I personally would not be interested in moving resorts. Have you stayed at AKL before? I think I would just stick with CBR

CBR is beautiful. I could easily stay there for a week and never leave the resort. I would not want to do a spilt stay at WDW, especially for only a week trip.

Thanks everyone. I suppose it is a question of whether the fuss of moving resorts in made up for by going to a deluxe - it is a two week trip so at least we won't spend all our time carrying suitcases....

For a 2 week trip, I'd do Pop then AKL. 1 week is not enough time for 2 resorts. With such a long trip, a change in the middle would be nice.

Though, if it were me...... I'd do 9 days at WDW then switch to US for the last 5...

I would do 14 nights/15 days at CBR because of the location. AKL is very far away from Magic Kingdom and Epcot, and those are the two most popular parks (IMO).

CBR!! We visited AKL last trip, and to us its just so far away from the main parks. But as you can see in my signature I'm a CBR fan all the way! We will be leaving in 14 days to return and my family cant wait Its just a very relaxing and beautiful resort!! Let us know what you decide!

I just got back from a 9 day stay at AKL so I can give you some first hand experience from someone who has stayed there recently. This was without a doubt the most relaxing and best stay we've ever had at WDW. I have stayed at many, many resorts in WDW from Value to Deluxe and various locations on the property. The bus service was without a doubt the best I've ever experienced. The main argument that I've heard (and it put me in panic mode every day until I actually stayed there) is that its "too far away" or a reference to the construction. The bus service was so outstanding it wouldn't have mattered where we were. The bus service to MK (which is the furthest park) took 15 minutes - and we took rountrips 6 separate times on during our stay.

The resort itself is so relaxing, the pool is outstanding, the food is marvelous, and is like nothing else you can stay at in North America. Visit my review for more detail.

We just got back from a 7 night/8 day stay at AKL. It was our first time there. I was nervous about being "so far away" as others have mentioned. After the first day there I realized that they were dead wrong. MK took 15 minutes to get to by bus. The great thing is not having to share the bus with other resorts. This saves SO much time and seems like you get to the parks faster. The transportation is far better than any other resort we've stayed at. We were so impressed with the resort and atmosphere that we are now in the process of becoming proud members for the first time in the Disney Vacation Club with our home resort being Animal Kingdom Villas. Nothing beats waking up and seeing giraffes and zebras right outside your room. We are SO excited!

If you have not stayed at AKL before, I suggest trying it once and see how you feel about it rather than others who say it's too far out or too isolated. Everyone has different opinions. It may not be right for one person but perfect for another.
