I am planning a wedding for my dd March 2018. I recently purchased AKL March use year. I am going to bank 160 points 2017 and borrow 160 points 2019. Problem is I want more points. If I purchase another 50 points vero beach March use year will that give me access to a total of 630 points 11 months from wedding date at AKL? Sorry I am a newbie.

No.

Vero Beach points can only be used at AKL at 7 months.

No matter how many contracts you may have at however many resorts, points can only be used at 11 months at the resort to which they belong.

You might want to look into renting points.

Buying a contract to use for 1-3 years seems inefficient. You have to pay closing costs, then commission if you sell it, etc.

50 points at VB will give you at most 150 points to use. You can rent 150 AKV points for about 2K. Those 150 VB points will cost you 1200 in Maintenance fees alone.

If you would buy the VB contract, then sell it when done, it would end up costing you more than renting points.

One more question is what do you need the extra points for, and what time of year? AK usually has good 7 month availability. But if you want to be certain, rent the points.

Thanks! You make a great point! I'm just thinking that I would like to consider flexibility to add additional rooms. Also the additional points could be nice for future trips. However in a perfect world I would transfer into my 2018 use year a couple hundred points. I just feel that it is so hard to find and effectuate a transfer. Sounds complicated.

We transferred in points and it wasn't as hard to find someone with the points I needed as I thought it would be. Also if you are looking at just needing extra for one time you could always rent from David's to get extra rooms.
