Help a nubie ...where to eat after we leave AK?

We will be at AK our first full day, Sunday, Jan 27. The park closes at 5, so I want to head somewhere to eat dinner after it closes. I wanted to to go Chef Mickey's, but there are no available times. (This is a last minute change - I made my other ADR's at the 180 day mark )

Details:
We have 6 people including two DD's, ages 4, 5
DD4 has food allergies - it makes the meal longer since they have specially make the food
We are not picky eaters, but do like familiar foods.
We are staying at the FW cabins.
We already have ADR's for:
Norway Princess Meal
Le Cellier
Cinderella's Royal Table
Crystal Palace
Tusker House
Hollywood & Vine

I'd prefer a sit down meal since we will be going to so many buffet and because buffets are harder for DD with food allergies. But I'm not picky.

So ... any suggestions?

How about Whispering Canyon Cafe? Its in the WL, so its pretty near FW. Also reportedly has pretty good food and is fun for a family.

come to mind are the Rain Forest Cafe at AK, I don't know when it closes though, and Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Jiko is a very good TS but is pricey. With the park closing so early you have a lot of choices depending on where you are heading afterwards. For example, if you are staying at POR or POFQ, Boatwrights would be a good choice. It has pretty good food and usually has availability. Near Epcot, then maybe Yacht Club Galley or if you have park hoppers there may be some Epcot restaurants. Around the MK you can try the Contemporary, Grand Floridian or Kona.

Ditto on WC Cafe. Your kids will enjoy it. You can walk (if it's nice) or boat back to FW so if you're tired it's not a big deal.

Also, you might consider CS that night for flexibility. We always finish AK before we really expect to.

Maybe AKL restaurants. But that'll be a pain if you have no car. A lot of schleping. (I just wanted to use the word schleping. )

I made an ADR for Whispering Canyon, but it can't get in until 6:40. I'll keep checking both it and Chef Mickey's for cancellations.

We are only doing a half day at AK, from noonish on. We arrive from California the night before. I am planning on us going to the P&P party on Sat night, so I know we'll be sleeping in Sun morning.

Yes, yes, I know that you're supposed to get there at opening but this is the only day I have us unscheduled in the morning. I figure with the time change we just won't make it up and about until noon. I plan on doing a simple lunch, so I am looking for a nice meal for dinner.

You shouldn't have a problem doing AK on a Sunday afternoon - and in January, you won't find the mid-afternoon heat like in the summer.

I was thinking Artist Point for the same reason as the WCC, that it's close to FW for you. You just grab a bus to Wilderness Lodge from AK and then boat back to FW after your dinner. Food is fancier than WCC and restaurant is quieter, but with the little ones with you, WCC may be the better choice.

Hi! I would suggest Boma. They have a kids menu with familiar foods and it is literally 2 minutes from the park. We watched the parade at 4:00 pm then got on the bus to AKL for our reservation @ 5:30 pm. It was perfect! We enjoyed checking out the animals after dinner too. The only down side if you don't have a car is that you have to go back to a park and transfer again to whatever resort you are staying at. It can be a pain, but I did it with an active 3 yr old! It was worth it!

May I also point out that we also ate at Chef Mickeys and out of 4 adults, we all hated it there!!!! We are not finicky people either. The food was extremely disappointing. I hear CM is great for breakfast, but dinner is pretty bad!

I also suggest Boma. The food is fantastic and there is lots of variety. When you make your ADRs you have to tell the CM about your daughter's allergies. Disney chefs do a great job preparing something for the allergic person to enjoy. I hear the chef at Bomas is great for this.

2 Suggestions:

Kona Cafe at the Poly. It's on the monorail line and easy to get to from FW or WL, via boat to the Contemp and monorail to Poly.

Hoop De Doo Dinner show. It's pricey, and you might not get availability, but it's worth checking on if you're interested in it. It's also obviously close to "home". It might not be the best choice if you're on the DDP, maybe, but you didn't mention one way or the other so I thought I'd throw this out there.
