We'll be at DHS next week and have an ADR currently for 50s but I'm thinking we may like sci-fi better for lunch. Can those of you who haven't eaten at both help?
We only ate at Sci-fi, but really enjoyed it and the food was much better than we expected. It was great fun, the atmosphere was fantastic and the service was friendly and excellent.
I have only eaten at '50's once a long time ago, but from what I remember it was fun. Im sure it has changed some....I very much disliked sci-fi. The food was bad. the atmosphere was cute but thats about it. If you go, get the ribs...they are quite tasty....
50s Prime Time all the way. The food is better IMHO and the interaction between you and your server is amusing (usually). Sci Fi is fun too, but the menu is more limited, the food not as good, the room really dark (hard to read menu) and the movie clips are repeated so it can be tedious after a while.
Eaten at both and preferred Sci-Fi and this is why. We are a family of 3 and DD was young at the time, our waitress was very pleasent but I guess not good with young girl and small crowd. Across from us was bigger families with older kids, one table all adults and it was hilarious her giving them a hard time. I think she was afraid of making DD upset or something. But at Sci-Fi our waiter kept playing tricks on us like switching our camera with broken on and pretending he broke the camera, DD fell for it, and doing magic tricks on DD so she was more entertained. As far as food, 50's is home cooking and at Sci-Fi we enjoyed the burgers and milkshakes, we found them very good. The clips were cute and DD liked eating in a "car". Hope this helps but I think you need to look at the crowd and age maybe to make the decision.
Thanks for the input!
I have reservations at both but will cancel one of them depending on which day we go to DHS. The reason I thought about Sci Fi is that we are going for lunch and the food at 50s (while looking yummy) seems a bit heavy for a 12pm lunch.
We've ate at both and prefered Sci-fi better because I didn't
enjoy the experiance at 50s.
We were a family of 3 and were called and
seated (at the same time)in a large booth split table
with another group of Loud women.
We had to pretend to be cousans with everyone--
I just wanted to eat my lunch and get out of this crazy place.
We weren't related to these strangers (we have enough annoying
relitives already).
The server will bother you to death about eatting everything on your
plate (but I was stuffed after appetizers and entree') so I told
the server I could not even fit the dessert in, so please bring
our check. It was like a bad episode of the Twilight Zone.
Sci-Fi on the other hand was a very fun/pleasent atmosphere with
the Retro Cars and Drive-in movies. The waiter was very
nice and accomidating (not annoying like 50s). My DS wanted
a Boca (Veggie) Burger for Dinner and got it with no problems.
We would definatly go back to Sci-fi but never 50s prime.
We Sci-Fi! So much fun, dark inside like a drive-in, food is quick food but very tasty.
50s was packed to the gills, had to shout to others at the table to be heard, server was just a complete sourpuss and not fun at all. If his interaction was going to be so grouchy, he should have stayed quiet. Food there was also mediocre and not really what I'd pick for lunch and then walking around.
I prefer the food at 50's PTC but in all of the times we have eaten here, have never had a "fun" server. I do think the food is heavy for lunch and much prefer to eat dinner here.
I love Sci Fi, love sitting in those silly little cars and having a milkshake. We go here for first lunch on every trip. The food, though, let's just say eating there isn't the prime reason we go.
