I've pointed lots of folks toward inexpensive condos and houses but now I can't seem to find one myself:p

Here's my quest. We are going Oct. 30-Nov. 6 and would like a 2-bedroom accomodation either house, condo, timeshare or hotel suite. I'd like to find something for $60/nite before tax. We don't want to do Days Suites. If that's our only option, we'll spend a little more to stay elsewhere. Other than that, we're open to almost anything as long as it isn't too far away. We'll have our own car so transportation isn't an issue.

I've checked VRBO (not totally, but the spots I'm familiar with), ClosestToDisney.com and Windsor Palms. I've also browsed SkyAuction. I can probably get Vistana on that budget and that would be fine. I'm also looking at Silver Lake but they only have arrival dates for 10/31 and we don't want to have to switch hotels the first day.

Any brilliant ideas out there?

Did you call or email any of those places to see if they would give you a discount? It's worth a shot!

its a few dollars more than you want to spend but have you checked out cypress pointe?

the units are older than Windsor Palms but are kept very very clean. I've stayed 3 times in the past year or so & have always had positive experiences there. They are much better than Days Suites Old Town - I stayed there several years ago & was not impressed.

you can book Cypress Pointe on hotelkingdom for right at 68 bux per night for a 2 bdrm with NO cleaning fees at check out (but also NO daily maid service)

if you want to look around their website, heres their link

http://www.cypresspointe.net/

Check out this one. $59.00 per night and looks nice. I have no idea where it is though but says 5 miles from WDW. (aren't they all) Its called the Sweetwater Club and its off 192. 3 b/r 2 baths.

I found it on villas2000.com

Also, the 2 times we rented a house we did so at the last minute and scored great deals. One time a 5 b/r in Windosr Palms for $600.00 for 8 nights! You may want to book a cancelable backup and see what comes up in Sept. Good Luck.

Steve - I don't know if this helps or not, but I just did a google search for "orlando villas $60 a night" and a bunch of private villas popped up that you might want to check out. Have you tried Cyberentals.com yet?

Also... www.condos-orlando.com I think they are in Windsor Palms and the rates are really good.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me this weekend. Its amazing how many sights there are for rentals in the Disney area. Its also amazing how widely prices vary for identical accomodations depending on where you find them.

Hi Steve,
if the sites given to you earlier don't work out for you, I would suggest waiting until early October and going to VRBO or www.vacationrentals.com or www.cyberrentals.com and looking for a nice two/three bedroom at Emerald Island or Windsor Palms checking the availability calendars. If they are open your week email them and offer 60 a night. I rented our 7 bedroom home for 1/2 price on several occasions when smart rentors offered last minute deals.
You will be surprised how nice a unit you can get, even a 3 or 4 bedroom unit.
If you ant to nail something down now, search "villas at Sommerset Orlando" These are nice older units with 3 beds and nice master bath off the master bedroom. They look just like Sweetwater but a better location.
They are just south of Poinciana Blvd and just 7 to 8 minutes to Disney via the Osceola Parkway.
There are lot of these units around in different developements but Sommerset are by far the closest to Disney and hwy 192.

Good Luck...Ted

Hi Steve,

I just checked the Ready, Set, Go auctions on Sky Auction for your dates and a few resorts came up for 2 bedrooms, including Orbit One and Vacation Villages (?), which have been reviewed on this board in the past. Some of the others I haven't really heard about. Cypress Pointe GV is also available starting on 10/29, FYI. The RSG bids usually go for around $50 or so, plus the $195 flat rate and the $15 Sky Auction fee makes the total around $260, give or take. Works out to under $38 per night...

Hope this info helps you...you've always been so helpful to others on this board!

I have stayed at Villas of Somerset and they were excellent value for the money. Easy drive to WDW as well. At the time we paid $59 CDN per night for a 3 bdrm....that was 4 years ago though.

With the exchange that was like $10 USD..:p :p

Steve
I stayed at Orbit One though Skyauction last year(this year I got Hilton Grand Vacation club- who is excited???)

Anyhow- I thought Orbit was fine. Tile floor in kitchen- looked like new appliances. Washer and dryer in unit. A screened in porch. Master bath had a big whirlpool tub. There were a couple of pools- nothing exciting. A few other activities for the kids. Volleyball.

The only problem we had was with some teeny(I mean teeny- never saw these in Wi) ants in the kitchen.

Let me know if you have any ?

Thanks again for the replies.

I found a RSG auction and browsed the list of available resorts. Orbit One is available for our dates but in the description of the property it says,

"Upon check-in at the resort, please contact the Front Desk for additional information regarding the RCI on-site services and to schedule an appointment."

Does that mean we're obligated to attend a presentation? I'd rather pick a place where I don't have to do the timeshare thing.

I really recommend Cypress Point--book with Hotelkingdom.com We have stayed there in Feb and are going back this weekend. No sales pitch to endure there. Its a great place. We love the location and the price.

2 bedroom for $63.99

We didn't have to attend a timeshare presentation at Orange Lake last year when we stayed there. We won 2 separate auctions for our 2 week stay...one was a multiple listed Orlando auction and the other was an RSG. I think someone from OLCC called but we never did attend a presentation...I think they offer it but you aren't obligated to attend (unless of course you made ressies with that stipulation). There are auctions which specifically say you need to attend a presentation (Fairfield?), but to my knowledge going through Sky Auction does not necessitate sitting through a time share presentation. I have not stayed at Orbit One, though, so I don't know if they have a different policy. Perhaps you could email Sky Auction and ask them specifically about this policy.

Good luck with your RSG auction!

I bid on a Ready, Set, Go auction last nite. It ends in a couple of hours. I requested a week at Orbit One. Hopefully, I'll win that and will come in well within my goal of $60/nite. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I won the RSG auction! I requested a week at Orbit One for a 2-bedroom 2-bath unit. Winning bid was $51 so grand total is $261. Local_Girl you were right on the nose with the price.

Our trip isn't until October 30 but I'll certainly post a full review when we return.

Thanks again everyone.

Hooray! Congrats on winning the auction...Skyauction is such a great deal. Can't imagine paying for a timeshare when deals like these are available! BTW, when we bid on OLCC last year we received the emailed documents pretty quickly, but recently when we won another RSG for a friend, it took 3 weeks before we received them. I got a little panicky, but it was fine as they confirmed the reservation soon after the auction ended.

Looking forward to hearing about your experience at Orbit One...this resort seems to have better availability than most. It may not be as new or deluxe as some other resorts, but it may be just fine for us as we're always so busy at the parks and other attractions, and rarely hanging around the resort anyway!!

Have a great trip! :)

That's our feelings exactly. We go to Disney to do Disney, not to have a resort vacation. We hardly ever swim or use any of the hotel or resort facilities. All we want is a spacious suite with a kitchen. For a rate that works out to less than $37.30 per nite it would have to be pretty bad for me to feel it wasn't worth the price.

Steve- when we checked in at orbit One, they did try to get us to sign up, but it is not required. Just be ready to firmly and politely say no thanks. I think you get some extra stuff if you attend, but my DH refuses to so those kinds of things, so we did not do them. I know the year before at a different time share, they kept calling us to try to get us to tour, but I ignored the phone.

CONGRATULATIONS Steve!!

I've read many of your posts! You've helped lots of us with offsite recommendations! glad you found what YOU where looking for!

Have a wonderful trip!!!
