Hello to all. Please forgive me if this is not the appropriate forum for this post, but it really didn't seem to fit anywhere else either.

Let me begin by making an admission. I am addicted to Disney. I would wager that in this particular crowd, I am not alone in that category. That being said, I am using you. Let me explain.

Last Thursday, my wife called me from her office and asked what we were going to do on Valentine's Day. I told her that I really didn't have anything BIG planned and suggested that we maybe take a trip to a Bed & Breakfast for the weekend. We discussed this for a few minutes and then she said.......

"Why don't we go to Disney World?"

We have been to WDW on numerous occasions and that was the destination of our Honeymoon. However, always in the past our trips have been planned affairs. We would go for a week and I would meticulously plan every facet of the trip. We didn't always stick to the plan, but it was there just in case. We always try to find "special" things to do while we're there. I booked Victoria and Albert's for our Honeymoon, made reservations to the Cinderella Character breakfast, chartered one of those private boats to watch Illuminations from the water, that kind of thing. As you are all aware, those things can't be booked the on the spur of the moment. But here was my wife saying......

"Why don't we go to Disney World?"

...mere hours before we would have to leave. Throwing all caution to the wind, I said.....

"Sure, why not?"

So I called CRO and booked a 2 night stay starting the very next evening. We would be staying in the Contemporary, our first visit there. We were pretty excited.

Now, I'm sure you're all wondering where this is leading...be patient and we'll get to that.

So here we are all set to go to WDW to spend Friday and Saturday night. We live in Chattanooga, TN. That's a 9-10 hour drive depending on Atlanta traffic. All to spend one day in Disney World. Granted it was Valentine's day, but still.....

We went, LOVED the Contemporary, LOVED the Magic Kingdom, LOVED seeing the first scene in Carousel of Progress actually on Valentine's Day, HATED the drive. Well 3 out of 4 isn't bad.

Here is the point of the whole post....*pauses for the cheering to die down*

I have decided that I can no longer wait 2 years between visits to WDW. My wife and I will have to buy Annual Passes and go on every available long weekend we get. We simply enjoy it too much. Between those long weekends I'll have to find some other way to sate my Disney addiction.....

That's where you all come in.

I'm using you to help me make it through the times that I must refrain from shoving my wife in the car and traveling 10 hours for one day at WDW. So get used to me, you'll see me around. Popping in here and there, asking questions, answering questions, being a general nuisance (hopefully not).

Oh, and please feel free to use me in the same manner. We're all in this together after all.

And as always,

"Please do not pull down on the bar...I will lower it for you"

You are definitely not alone with your Disney Addiction. :D I love your name, by the way. The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides!!!

:wave2:

Welcome welcome welcome. Hi, my name is Queenie, and I'm also addicted to Disney. hee hee...:teeth:

That must have been the best valentine's gift, welcome to the board again, and we're glad to hear your going to join us!

ENJOY!!!:wave2:

I've always said that if I got to work in one of the parks for a day I would want to work at the Haunted Mansion. Oh, I have a question too....

When we rode it this time, we went along the line anticipating seeing the final bat head that is worn down to almost a ball, but it wasn't there....when did they replace it?

Hi, my name's Michelle and I'm a Disney Addict too!!! Welcome aboard!!! My DH just shakes his head and smiles at me when I start talking about PS and we're over 10 months out!!! I wish I was only 10 hours away - I'd be there once a month!!! Our ride is more like 18. Enjoy every minute in WDW. Next long weekend.....Easter, right???

Hello and welcome to The DIS! We are all here for each other! My DH also looks at me and rolls his eyes when I tell him about what places I am making PS at when we are also 10 months out! I ask him "Well where do you want to stay next?" and he looks at me and shrugs "I don't care- just not the Polynesian" (not our favorite hotel!) Then everytime I bring something up about the trip, he just rolls his eyes and says "I don't want to hear it and don't ask me anything!" Obviously he is NOT an addict but deserves a big hug for putting up with me (not that he doesn't reap all the benefits of my addiction during our FABULOUS TRIPS during which I get many thanks)!!! My 8 year old son is being groomed to take over for me so he can plan trips when I am 80! Anywhoo, I always am pleased with my planning and since I have found these boards I enjoy the planning almost as much as the trip (ok, about a third as much as the trip!). It is a never ending cycle, and as soon as we get home form one trip, I start planning the next one. I think most people here are like that. So, welcome again and we will all try to keep each other sane in between trips!!

Hi my name is Kayla and i too am a Disney addict

Welcome to the boards it's nice to meet you:tongue:

i wish we could do a spur of the moment trip like that but unfortunalty living in NY and our work schedules does not allow it
we always have to plan

hope you enjoy it here i know most disney addicts do:wave:

Master Gracie, isn't it nice to know there is a place where we addicts can get our fixes!!pirate: :wave2:

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome.

As Carrieberry said, as soon as you get back you begin to plan the next trip.

We haven't bought the APs yet, but we are thinking maybe we want to head back around the first week of December. I have heard that is a wonderful time to visit. Any suggestions concerning a trip at that time of year? We would probably leave on Wednesday night and spend Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and then head back on Sunday.

Thanks in advance

If the marriage ever goes bad, will you marry me?:earseek: LOL!
Seriously, you sound like a great hubby - I wish mine was an addict!!! Oh well, at least he finances my addiction::yes::

welcome!

Welcome! Wow, that's a great story! We live 11 +hours from Cape May, and I've done that for a long weekend driving on Friday and Monday, and it does get old. I hope your "many long weekend plan" works!

Bobbi

:D

Welcome Welcome!!! Another Disney Addict here... although a long weekend drive from NY just isn't possible. My poor DH... just shakes his head when I talk about our upcoming Oct trip when we haven't eve gone on our Feb trip.

December??? How can you wait that long???

Anyway, WELCOME!!!

The first weeks in December are wonderful! That is our favorite time of the year. The weather is sometimes on the chilly side, but what you get in return is no crowds. PLUS, the Christmas decorations are up and they are worth the drive alone!

Glad you could join all us addicts. It's no fun alone.

December??? How can you wait that long???

That's your job. You've got to keep me entertained til I can get back. But fear not, I will let you know if you start slacking on your job.

It's very nice to come here and get your Disney fix. I usually go about every 3 years but have been fortunate enough to go once a year for the past two and am going to try to go once this year as well. I too am a 10 hour drive away unless I am in the vehicle. I have a family member who can not fly so we drive. Whenever I am in the car we are stuck somewhere waiting to clean through an accident for hours. So I have not had a drive that actually was only 10 hours (although all of my friends manage to get there in 10 hours) and they usually turn out to be 12 to 13 for me. Ugh. Last Nov. I did the FTP and flew. Wow. I was on the plain for 1hr20minutes. Up and down. When we landed I was in shock as I had the rest of the day to play.

Enjoy every minute, even the 10 hour drives, because one of the happiest places on Earth is at the end of it. Get plenty of use out of your AP's.

I would kill for a 9-10 hr. ride!!! See, it's all relative. I keep thinking that we'll drive and then I think about the 2 days lost on each end and the fact that I just can not abide my dh's driving and that I'll probably end up in jail after I kill him. Then I make the flight plans!! Welcome to the fun. Most of us are just killing time here, waiting for our next trip.

Welcome to my world Master Gracie.....we are 10 hours away as well..with APs....got to love it!!!!

Master Gracie.... Welcome home!!!

You have certainly come to the right place,we are all Disney obsessed :hyper:

I agree with dizneycc the first week of December is a wonderful time to visit. The weather ir perfect around high to low 70's during the day. It does get a little bit chilly at night, but, it helps you get into the Christmas spirit. All the decorations are up and the crowds are non existent..Perfect!! Plus, there's MVMCP ,if you have not been to MVMCP, it is a limited ticket event at night with caroling on the street, special Christmas shows, it "snows" on main street ,they hand out Christmas cookies and hot cocoa(yes, for free!!) and most of the rides are open even Carrousel of Progress. It certainly is a very magical night!!
::yes::

Can you honestly wait until December?? :smooth:

Welcome to the DIS, Master Gracie. I hope you will visit often.

Since I found the DISboards in February, 2000 I have used the boards to keep my Disney addiction under control between trips.

I think all of us do that, I thought that was why the boards were here ;)

Hi Master Gracie, I'm Aisling and I'm joyfully addicted to Disney. I start planning my next trip as soon as I get back from the previous one, even if the plan is for 3 years away!

I love these boards and all the Disers who understand the feeling.
