Hello!
This forum has been so helpful in planning our DLR vacation.
My family is going Labor Day weekend so DH can run the DL Half Marathon so we are taking advantage and turning into a five day stay.

This is our first time staying at any DLR hotel so we are very excited!:goodvibes
We are staying at GCH and I am hoping the proximity will help with MM and with DH not having to go to far to the race.

I have a question about Fantasmic. For the life of me I can not find any pricing info on the DL website for the Fantasmic dessert option.
I'm also wondering if it is really worth it.
We have 3 boys, ages 8,6 and 5 so is the seating better with the dessert option?

And any info on how long a walk it is from GCH to DL entrance would be great, thanks.
I'm trying to plan how early we need to be there for MM.

Any info is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

::yes:: People have great reviews of the desert package. Prcing is $59 Adults, $49 Kids.

From the GCH it really depends on where your room is. To DL about 5 to 10 minutes. To DCA there is a resort guest entrance so 1-5 minutes. It's close so it reall depends on elevators and if the room is near of far.

Hi. I have a 10, 8, and 6 year old. We decided not to do the dessert option for a couple reasons. First off, we can spend that money on something else in the park we will have a lot longer than the items in the dessert package. Second, the seating is great however, you can get some good spots not doing the dessert package by checking Hydro's thread. And third, my girls would probably eat the dessert and be sick the next morning. NOT up for that.

If it was just dh and I we would do it. But almost 300 for dessert and a seat is not within our budget.

I really don't think it's a good value. Were paying $39.99 a person for a FULL dinner to do the WOC dining. For more then that price you just get the dessert box, and there is a chance of not getting the best seating (since it's first come first serve). Shame they don't do a full dinner option like they do for the WOC. We usually scoop in for the second showing of F! once the people get up from the first show. Always get great seats.

This question has been asked a gzillion times "worth it." We do this every year and for us we enjoy the view, we could care less about the dessert.
We go in August and the ROA area is absolutely insane with people staking out spots starting around 1630. My butt does not tolerate asphalt or concrete very well so it is worth it to us for the show. If you have no problem staking out a spot and sitting on the ground, look at HYDROGUYS
thread, have a great trip.

:goodvibesThanks for all the advice!

We plan on doing the WOC dinner and for now, I think the Fastasmic dessert is in the budget. (only because I don't think I can convince 3 boys to sit on concrete for an hour and a half:dance3:

I'll try to keep it in the budget, although it might be the first thing to cut because I think that money at DL flows like sand thru my fingers!
I also had read that Labor Day wknd can get busy so I thought these might help so we don't have to fight people to see (maybe just push a little);)

Yes, but for WOC you do not get a SEAT for the show..you get a section to STAND and you still have to jostle for your view. With F! dessert you get an assigned chair and the HUGE box of desserts (with cheeses, fruit and crackers too, which can really be a nice light dinner). It is worth it for us at times, and we have treated each grandkid once. When we want to see F! and not pay for it, we stand off to the side by the Tom Sawyer Island dock. We never come even close to eating that dessert box, but take it back to our room and keep it in the refrigerator for later snacking. One gripe..PLEASE design a lid that actually stays on :)
At my age, I am paying for a CHAIR after long busy days..
