Hi there!!!

I figured it was about time to stop lurking and start participating :) I have been writing for some time in the Spanish section of Disboards and will continue to do so, but hope to be an active member over here as well :yay:

First things first, let me introduce myself. I live in Madrid, Spain, a mere 4,300 miles away from "my happy place". I am Spanish, but lived 4 years in the US when I was much younger than I am today ;)

While living over there, we had the chance to visit Disney World about once a year (which is when I became hooked despite being only 8 years old). Since returning to Spain, we have returned to WDW about 5 or 6 times in 20 years which is not bad considering the distance/cost, but not as much as I would like

Thanks to podcasting, the Internet, great message boards like this one and a couple of WDW Blogs I run as a hobby, the wait seems to be more manageable...

Looking forward to my next trip scheduled for December 2009/January 2010 with my extended family (about 11 of us, including my twin sons that will be 4 by the time), and also looking forward to sharing with you all the preparations!

HOLA A TODOS!!!

:welcome: to the DIS!! So glad you get to your happy place once a year! It's kind of funny because I go to Spain every year (it's my second favorite happy place, only after Disney of course!). Madrid is my favorite city followed closely by Barcelona. If there's anything you ever need on the DIS, feel free to send me a private message! Again, welcome!

:welcome:! So glad you came over to hi. Spain is on my list of places to visit before I die. Have you been to Disney Paris yet?

Thanks all for your warm welcomes!!!!

Congratulations on your engagement Rora! Unfortunately the "once a year trip" was when I lived in USA, since moving back to Spain it's more like once every 5 years :sad1: Glad you enjoy Madrid! I live in Madrid, but my company is based in Barcelona so I go there about once a month. Great cities :)

Thanks lovetoscrap!! Glad to be here. Spain will not disappoint you. As a matter of fact I have visited Disneyland Paris several times, because my family lived another 4 years in Paris (dad moved a lot). However, at the time I was living in London so couldn't do it so often as I would have liked to.

Thanks again!!!!

Hablo español un poquito. Also I have been to Madrid. I was there almost three agos for school for about a week and a half. I really want to go back someday. Bienvenidos!!!!!!!!! I can speak spanish pretty good but typing is very limited. I'll try though.

I lived in Madrid for 2 years. Had an apartment on c/ San Bernardo, just off the Gran Via. We could feel the trains in the Metro vibrate the building when they went underneath us. Plus, even after all these years, I can still remember the stench that came from the jamon serrano shop down by Plaza de Espana in the summer when the temps hit 45 degrees. Plus we found the greatest little cafe-bar down in one of the corners just behind Plaza Mayor. I think it was called "Cafe Bar Luis Morales". Sold the greatest churros and tortilla. The owner was of, course, Luis Morales. He was in his 70's then, so i am sure he has passed away by now. Madrid was amazing. I would love to go back.

Wow the world (the real one, not our WDW) is small :)
