Hello from Cypress Pointe

Hello Sandra,
Thanks for the great info. I had a question for you. We will be staying there one night before our land sea package begins in April. We now have an extra day at the end of our trip that we need a room for. I thought if we liked the place when we were there we could rebook for another night. We booked our first nights ressie through hotelkingdom. I wondered what kind of rates you get from GrandCypress if you book directly with them? We booked a 3 br villa for I think 135 a night. We will only need a two BR for the extra day as my Mom will have left by then. Have you ever done this? Thanks Lisa

Are most of you booking direct or using another website for better deals? We're looking to rent a condo for our trip later this spring and so far I've gotten some pretty decent rate quotes by going direct from the owners, but wondering whats the best deals on for CGV?

Kilee,

Hotelkingdom.com had the best rate I could find for CP...not sure about the CPGV though. We could not get 2 yucky motel rooms for what we're paying for a 3 bdrm at CP (we need the extra room cuz MIL is coming with us)...so this was a no-brainer for us. I'm also checking VRBO, Skyauction, and even Ebay, but I can't get a better rate and/or the dates we need. Good luck!! :)

Hi Sandra!!!!! :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

I'm soooo glad you're enjoying your vacation and especially that your enjoying CP! I kind of thought you might! :rotfl: I'm glad you posted as I was thinking about you and hoping everything would be just right for your stay.

Hope the weather continues with lots of blue skies and warm sunshine! :sunny:
Also.....give Mickey a hug for me will ya? :earboy2:

We booked CP through HotelKingdom. A 2 bdrm for 10 nights for 72.00 a night.

Thanks for the on-the-scene reports! We will be at CP on Sunday for a week. This is our second stay there and I am really psyched! Sandyincanada--maybe I will see you there!

Thank you for giving us info on CP, we won't be there until July- but I am still trying to learn all I can. :hourglass Can you please tell us if their is anything in walking distance ? Is their bus transportation to Universal or any park ? :listen: I have to teens that are insisting they don't want to do the parks and just wanted to see if their was anything else around there they might be able to do ? :moped: Thanks for any comments that you might be able to pass our way... :wave2:

Can you give us some details on the pool? Are there slides? What age are they appropriate for? Is there a hot tub by the pool? Any and all details welcome!

Thanks for posting, Cujo. I'm glad to hear you're having a great time. We're booked for the CPGV in mid April for two nights before our cruise. I'm wondering if there's hair dryers in the rooms.
It lists on the Cypress Pointe website that they provide shuttle service to Universal. We'll have a rental car, but this might be another option. Do you know anything about that such as cost and time schedules??

The web site also list planned children's activities. Have you seen any of that? I know you've been busy going to the parks so you might have missed it. Thanks for the info.

We're going right around the 15th of April. I'm buying my airfare tomorrow so then I'll be "locked in" on my dates. Anyhow, I know for the 8 nights I'm looking to go I've been given quotes generally in the $59-70 range for a 3 bedroom condo off www.vrbo.com so I guess I'll stick w/ that. Just thought I'd see if I couldn't do better elsewhere.

We booked our room through Hotel Kingdom, and it was the best deal we had come across for Cypress Pointe. However we didn't try Sunterra directly.

I don't know if there is a bus to Universal. There are some restaurants & gift shop, convenience store a little more than across the street.
So much is catered to tourism, I wouldn't think it would be too much to find a way to Universal. There is mini golf, at the grand villas, we haven't played, but it doesn't look too bad.

Our daughters, age 13 & 14 like the pool here. There are 3 tube slides, and although they tried them, they said the slides are geared more for kids under 10. There is a hot tub close to the pool, and a small toddler's pool, just bigger than the hot tub. You do have access to the grand villa pools, but we have been quite content to use the one here.

Thats great. We're there from the 9th to the 19th. DS15 just got his cast off today (early because of the trip, great Doc) so if you see a teen either on crutches or moving rather slow for a teen, that us, lol. Looking sooooo forward to it :)

I asked about the Shuttle Service and this is the email that I recieved back...

The shuttle services are operated by Sunterra Corporation who operate a Guest Services desk in
our lobby. The current charges are:

Disney (roundtrip) $14/per person
Universal (roundtrip) $ 16/per person
Airport (one way) $14/per person.

The schedule varies depending on parks hours and demand but the posted times are 8AM-10AM
6PM - 8:30PM . Please check with Guest Services for the exact times during your stay.

Best regards,
Cypress Pointe Resort HOA

Yippee.....we're booked! :cool1: Very excited to have this taken care of. Ended up going with the 2 bedroom after all. Mostly because the extra $115 or so will pay for another activity for us, such as Disney Quest, or Wonderworks, or something like that. Also, I'm sure the 2 bedroom is plenty of room for us, no need to have something as large as our home while we're on vacation!!!! :rotfl: Then finally, my DD was begging me to let her have 1st dibs on the sofa bed!!! Imagine, she is begging for the privledge. So, I think this will work out just fine for us. And maybe this will keep another unit avail. for anyone else who may be trying to book during the busy summer months! :confused3 Anyway, it is all good. Thanks again for all the 1st hand reports that have been posted here by you veterans. It certainly helped me decide.

(Just think, up until a short time ago I was willing to book POR onsite since we have 5 in our family, and would have been paying $170 a night for a hotel room! Now I've got a 2 bedroom villa for almost $100 less a night! You guys here are GREAT!

Hey Hilltopfamily, congratulations!! :cool1:

I was so excited when we finally booked too, as I'd been researching and fretting about it for weeks. I so agree about the onsite vs. off thing...we'd love to stay onsite some time, but honestly, we get such a good deal and better accomodations offsite and we're able to stay longer. At the rate we're paying (and we're in a 3 bdrm, mind you, because we need extra space for my MIL) we could only stay 7 nights onsite (at your POR rate) as opposed to 12 nights at CP. Plus we'll have all that space and full kitchen and laundry facilities, saving us even more $$.

I must admit though, I'm glad that some people need to stay onsite to experience the "magic". Otherwise, we'd all be clamoring for the same wonderful offsite deals. In 2002 and 2003, we got even better deals on awesome resorts (HGVC Seaworld, and OLCC) which I can no longer match. I guess the word is out... ;)

This is almost exactly how we feel. We love on-site, especially WL. But for what we have paid in the past at WL for ONE night, we got a WHOLE WEEK at Vistana (ofcourse, I doubt if I'll be able to do THAT well again :teeth: ).

Our next trip we will be getting 2 weeks for what some pay for 2-3 nights at the Poly.

And I'm also glad that some people need to stay on-site. I mean, everybody knows that there is no magic staying off-site, especially if you have a jacuzzi tub and 1400 sq. feet...... ;) ;)

You save a lot of money by having your frig stocked instead of going to a foodcourt. I still like onsite for variety when staying 3 nights or less when its not worth stocking the frig and added hassles. I just try not to think of the 3 bedroom I could have for less! Condos are great for families. Throw in some dvds you've been meaning to see for downtime when you're tired. CPR has DVD players all over the place.

We're finally here! Cypress Pointe is great! Our condo is large, clean, everything is working well, extra blankets, pillows, even night lights in the hall and bathrooms. Ceiling fans all over, even inthe balcony, lol.

Anyways, no worries, guys. We are very pleased.

Have a wonderful time, Sandy. Glad to hear your accomodations are great, too. Here's hoping you have great weather, everyone in your party stays healthy, and you have a memorable vacation :goodvibes Oh, and feel free to post to us anytime you feel like it! ;)

BTW: We're completely interested in the broadband for $20 for the week~~~is this avail. in any room/villa that they assign you to? Any of you guys have trouble getting this? Do I just need my laptop and an ethernet cord? TIA for input on this.
