We arrived last friday for our two week stay at Cypress Pointe.
Our over all experience and impression of the resort is good. We are staying in a 3 bedroom unit and are thoroughly enjoying the space and the comfy tubs to relax in at the end of the day. The location couldn't be better. We found our way here quite easy and love all the restaurants so close by. The last few days have been fairly cool and they have kept the pool nice and warm.
We paid $84.00 for our suite, and for what we paid we are quite happy with the resort. However we did wander over to the Grand Villas, and I was feeling sorry that we hadn't booked to stay there. I liked the layout of the two pools, and the mini golf in the middle of the buildings. For me, there was just a cozier, comfortable, relaxing atmosphere over there. There is nothing to complain about over here at Cypress Pointe, just a personal opinion.

The suite is clean, but there are aspects to it that do show its age. It isn't luxurious, but we have found it more than adequate for a comfortable stay.

It's just so nice to be here!

Thank you for posting, Sandra! Glad to hear you guys are having a nice trip and especially that you're enjoying CP as we're due to arrive there the first week of April. :flower1: I'm thinking maybe we should steer clear of CPGV so we don't know what we're missing. ;) Actually, we aren't that hard to please and my MIL (who will be with us) isn't either so we should be quite comfortable at CP. I couldn't justify the price difference between the two, especially knowing that CP was recently renovated (are the renovations completed, by the way?).
I do have a question...we are staying for 12 days and you mentioned that you're staying for 2 weeks...will housekeeping come in and do their thing after the first week? Is that something you have to request and/or pay for? I know you can get the service for a charge mid-week, just wondering what happens if you stay for 2 weeks.

Thanks for any info...hope you continue to have a great time!! :wave2:

I know at Cypress Pointe Grand Villas after 8 days you get a free cleaning, not sure if it is the same at the other side or not. :wave2:

I don't believe you will get a cleaning unless you pay for it. We were there for 11 nights last August and nobody touched a thing. Place looked like a hurricane had been through it before we left - oh, that'w right, a hurricane did come through (Charley)! We were happy with our stay, though, in spite of having no housekeeping.

Thanks for posting Cujo....glad your finding it OK.

I think grand villas would be out for us because according to thier site the rooms do not have highspeed internet :earseek: Sort of a priority for us, lol.

Which pools do you think would be best for teens?

Thanks for posting and hey, I guess we'll see you there in a few days, woohoo :)

We are travelling with our two teenage daughters, and they are quite happy with the pool here at Cypress Pointe. We took them over to the CPGV, and they stayed in the pool for a just a short time and wanted to come back to CP.
In regards to the room itself, we are very happy with the room. For us the roominess is in itself a luxury. After busy days at Disney and Universal, it is just so nice to have to unwind without stepping over each other. I have to mention again, the jacuzzi tub is so, so nice.
We have been here for 8 nights, and there has been no mention of any maid service.

Nice to touch base here, I have been checking these boards daily for months, and had missed it!
We will check back again, so feel free to ask any questions. . .

Local Girl,
When we arrived the building next to us still had barricades in front of it,
which was the only one we noticed which had any.
Then yesterday they took them down and we noticed, when walking by, that they looked completed inside. Chairs were still turned up, but the silk plants & flowers were still in place.

Thanks for posting, Cujo. I'm glad to hear you're having a great time. We're booked for the CPGV in mid April for two nights before our cruise. I'm wondering if there's hair dryers in the rooms.
It lists on the Cypress Pointe website that they provide shuttle service to Universal. We'll have a rental car, but this might be another option. Do you know anything about that such as cost and time schedules??

The web site also list planned children's activities. Have you seen any of that? I know you've been busy going to the parks so you might have missed it. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info.

We stayed at Grande Villas in January and there was a hair dryer in the master bathroom. It was not attached to the wall, though - I found it underneath the sink in the MB. I'm not sure if there was one in the other BR because I just forgot to look. The location of CP & CPGV is great, and I'm not sure we could ever stay in a standard hotel room again. Having all that room made our trip so enjoyable.

Great, sounds like we made the better choice for our family. DS is 15.

Have a great time

Thank you for the info about the maid service...actually we were at Orange Lake last year for 2 weeks and really didn't miss the maid service. I think they brought us towels mid week. We were so seldom at the resort that we didn't have time to make a mess, LOL! I was interested in what happens at CP though, because this year my MIL will be with us and she was asking.

Thanks for all the other info too...we are getting very excited about our visit!! :cool1: :bounce: :cool1: :bounce:

About the maid service. . . . . we just came back to our room for a mid afternoon break, and we did recieve maid service. They changed the bedding, brought more toiletries and cleaned the suite. We were pleasantly surprised. I happened to have had the towels in the wash, so I don't know if they would replace them or not.

Thanks for the report. It seems like alot of us are going to CP :wave2: APril cannot come quick enough.

:wave2: Hope to see some of you there

Heidi :earsgirl:

Hmm, this brings up a point...I was fine with no maid service, I don't care if they make the beds and stuff...but, can you get fresh towels if you want them? Is there a charge?

Thank you for the report, Cujo. We're getting spoiled having someone right on the scene to answer our questions! Hope you're still enjoying a wonderful vacation. :cool1:

I almost forgot that at OLCC the housekeepers did come around one morning about mid-trip and asked if we wanted them to come in and clean...we told them it wasn't necessary, but they did leave us some replacement towels.

Heidijot...looks like from your counter our trips will overlap a bit! We leave there on 4/15. Maybe we'll run into you there...have a great trip! :flower:

local girl---agree with you about us being spoiled having Cujo right there on site and nicely answering questions.

Here's my question and I'm hoping for some input from all you kind people to help me decide: I'm all set to book finally ( :earboy2: little problem with indicision in my genetic makeup!). We're a family of 5 (Me, DH, DD14, DS11, and DD7) and I think, given the choice between the 2, the resort would be great for us. (If it's not avail. at the time we need it, then the grand villas will be just fine also). What I'm NOT sure about yet, is whether to book the 2 bedroom or the 3 bedroom. I see that occupancy is 6 people in the 2 bedroom and 8 people in the 3 bedrooms. My oldest has said she'd take the sofa couch if we get a 2 bedroom, and I'd put the other 2 in the 2nd room, but for the small amount of extra $$ I wonder if we'd like the "spread-out ability" greater of having the 3 bedroom? Do I understand that with the 3 bedroom you end up with 3 bathrooms? Wow---that might be handy, given that the bathrooms (per report from others) have a lack of privacy (at least the bathroom in the master bedroom). Any thoughts on this?? :confused3 Thanks so much! I'm excited and ready to book TODAY!

I'm also undecided on 2br vs 3br. I'm thinking for $15 per day it may be worth it to have DS in his own room instead of the sofa bed.....curious to hear the replies you get!

Personally, we've done the child on the sofa thing and I would go with the 3rd bedroom. They have privacy, you can stay up watching TV or get up earlier without disturbing the one in the livingroom. The 3rd bedroom will give you the extra bathroom as well. On thier site is shows the lay-outs of the 2 bdrm and the 1 bedroom, they are part of a lock-out so you would get both. My understanding of the bathrooms is this: in a 2 bdrm, theres 1 normal locking bathroom and 1 open bathroom in the master bdrm but the bdrm itself locks. I'm not certain about the 1 bdrm though.

In regards to 2 or 3 bedroom units. . .
We decided to go with the 3 bedroom even though there was just the 4 of us, and we haven't regretted it for a minute.
The second bedroom is rather small. It has a single bed, I think referred to as a trundle bed, where the other single is under the bed. It has a chair in there and not much spare room. The extra bedroom(in the 3 bedroom unit) is nice to have, with the big tub another king size bed and TV. This room is like another bedroom of an apartment, and I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like having neighbors so close.
Yes you would have 3 bathrooms with the 3 bedroom unit.

Our daughters are 13 & 14, and they have really appreciated having the suite bedroom, they both said they felt the second room would be too small for their comfort. (mind you the question was asked after a week of staying in their suite).

Best of luck in your planning. . . .
