Height Restrictions?

hello all
just wondering how strict are the CM's when it comes to height restrictions
DS who will be 3 on 11/12 (we are going 11-13 thru 11-18) right know
stands about 38 " without shoes on but with shoes on may be 39" the
major rides with the 40" attraction hgt how strict are they?

MY DD3 was just under the requirement for Splash Mountain, but she got a fast pass for when she is tall enough. It may have been because DS5 didn't want to go, and I was saying to her she probably wasn't tall enough to ride.

Just measure and see what the CM says

they are pretty strict.

Your child will be tall enough soon.

Don't get mad, the cast members are just doing their job.

we went last year and my daughter was 5, only 34 1/2" and wanted to ride the Barnstormer. The CM would not let her on. She only needed 1/2" to be able to ride and she was 5. But, I explained it to her and she wasn't too upset. We are going again next week....she just makes it I think. I am tiny too, and that helps. My DH and I do not ride any of the other rides we know that she can't ride yet, it isn't fair to her. With all the injuries that happened last year, I can understand their strictness. My DH told my DD that when she is 40" he will take her back and she can ride all of those rides as often as she wants to!

In my experience they are very strict and will likely measure your child each and every time, probably more than once at each attraction with a height restriction. They will remove hats and measure to the head not the hair, I have also seen them ask a child with obviously tall shoes to remove them.

My oldest is about 50" and they measured her each and every time we did RnRC (48" requirement). Both at the entrance and then at the boarding area.

Your best bet is to plan not to ride the rides with the 40" and above restriction and be pleasantly surprised if she/he measures up in a month. There are sooo many great rides at WDW, esp for a 3yo that you won't even miss the 2 or 3 he/she can't do.

They are very strict about height. Our experience 2 years ago-for some reason DD was tall enough for SM when we were in the fast pass line, but was always 1 inch too short in the regular line-there must have been an incline. The regular line CM's would not let her through even though we tried to explain and have her measured while standing in the fast pass line. We just had to use fast passes for that trip. When we went last Nov, both of my kids were tall enough for RNR, just barely though. They would be measured numerous times before we got on the ride. I saw several children turned away right where you get on the ride because of height-even though they passed the first few height tests. We even had a CM not let DD get in line for RNR saying she was trying to get up on her tippy toes in order to be tall enough-she wouldn't listen-just said no. So, we left and came back when another CM was standing at the entrance.

I could not believe how close my dd3 was for Soarin' and they said no. We just did that parent swap. This was last month. I hope she grew enough that she can go on it next week with me. Her new shoes seem to be a little taller so we will see.

Remember that the height requirement is for the safety of your child, so they don't fall out of the ride. Even if you don't care (but I'm sure you really do), Disney cares a lot about your child.

My DD3 makes the hight requirements with her shoes on. They check and they have to hit the red arrows. They would even check her feet to make sure she was not on her tip toes.

She was 40 inches with her shoes.

When I am at Space Mountain I will ask that the child remove any hats, etc. and then measure them. If I can fit my fingers in the space between their head and the bottom of the stick then the answer is no. I have seen parents who had their child turned away walk behind me and give the kid thier shoes to put on and then try it again. Most CM's are not trying to be mean and please don't think them dumb. We just want to do what is safe for your children.
