Height restrictions for rides...

Our young son is now 38"" with no shoes on. I notice a LOT of the rides have height restrictions of 40"".

OK. So add a bit for his shoes....

What do you reckon his chances are of getting on? How fussy are the operators? Would they make him take his hat off for instance ?

They very well may make him take his hat off so get some trainers with very thick soles and teach him to stand up very tall! I think they'll probably be stricter on rides such as Mission:Space, RnRc and Tot than they would on BTMRR, space mountain, splash etc

I've seen that the ride CMs are quite strict when it comes to ride height - the ride heights are set for the type of ride and the type of restraints installed, so for childrens' safety they must be the correct height to ensure that the ride restraints work properly.

No way !!! I can see that they have to take it seriously for safetys sake but thats a bit much...

I think Mission:space and RnRc have a height limit of much more than 40" anyway...

These would be a bit much for him anyway but I know he'd love Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain.

This may sound daft but DS was just 40" when we went in July but I found that he was taller in the morning than by late afternoon so we tended to do the 'big' rides first thing. Obviously we literally walked the feet off him!

We found the CMs to be very precise when measuring, and at one point they had a credit card that they slid between the bar and the child's head to see if there was a gap. The only one we had any problems with was Soarin'. He was OK for the height limit outside, and we checked during the queue, but when we got to the boarding area, they re-measured him and he was too short and could not ride. The CMs were fantastic with him - they explained that he wasn't tall enough, then took him and showed him the big screen and told him what his Mum and Daddy would see on the ride, so he didn't feel he'd missed out.

Good luck with your son's height, my DS loved Splash Mountain - it was his favourite ride - he is still asking to go on it now!

Wow. So they're fairly precise then...

Perhaps if we spike his hair up a bit !!!!!

We went last year as well and he just managed to make the height for Goofys Barnstormer (36") so we had to go on that about 15 times....

The short answer is you have a snowballs chance in hell of getting your child on. The CM's will flatten your kids hair and make them take off their shoes. If they were 39.999 inches they still wouldn't be allowed on the ride, and for the sake of 2 inches it's probably more than the CM's job is worth to let the kid on! Particularly seeing as if the child got injured, I dare say you'd be the first to sue Disney...

Anyway, the height restrictions are there for a reason - so it's probably best you don't try and sneak your kid on.

Let's face it, we're not half as diligent at checking heights here in the UK

DD, at almost 8, is loads shorter than 99% of her peers but she'll certainly appreciate the time she's allowed on the 'big coasters'

Not everyone has the same level of knowledge on WDW or Florida, nor have some people been reading the boards as long as others so there really is no such thing as a stupid question.

I can understand the poster posting the question, though what get's me is when given the advice that cm's are very strict with height requirements they then come up with way's to make their child taller.

Afterall height requirement's are in place for a reason and that's mostly to protect your child.I think it's then a bit silly to think of ways to get them on.
We have heard it all on here though,filling their shoes to make them taller,getting shoes with heels,spiking hair.

Not being argumentative Alan just saying it how it is.
