DS is very tall. We are planning a trip for Sept/oct this year. He will be 2 on Thursday and he is 39 or 40 inches now. So Im guessing when we go he will be 40 to 41 inches and can ride more if he wants to but will they let him on if he is only 21/2? Thanks

My goodness, he is tall! Wow, my kids have always been in the 95%ile but weren't that tall at just turning 2! He must be completely off the charts!

While I don't think disney has an age restriction for most rides, I'd be very careful what I put him on due to lack of muscle strength. My DS rode splash and Big Thunder when he had just turned 3 and while he liked both of them, I wouldn't put him on Big Thunder again at that age. Because he was only 3, his little head didn't seem to have enough neck muscle to keep his head from whipping around and he is my strong, tough, active kid. DD went on it when she was 4 and had much better neck control at that age, even though she is physically my weaker child. I think the extra year made a big difference. I definitely wouldn't put a 2 year old on it.

There are so many rides that are more suitable for a 2 year old and that he would enjoy much more that I wouldn't take any chances putting him on the bigger rides. Of course, that is just my opinion. I don't remember seeing any age requirements at disney, just height, so it will be a judgement call on your part as to what he can handle.

He may be tall enough by Disney to ride some of the bigger rides, but you as a parent should just go by what you would put an average size 2 year old on.

He is very tall people think he is at least 3. DH is 6'2'' and BIL is 6'5''. The only ride I was thinking about was SM only because I know Jaden would love it. Thanks for the imput.

DD8 was a little over 40" at 35 months. The only "big kid" ride we put her on was Splash. She sat in between me and my Dmom. (We're both pretty petite, so it was an easy fit.)

DD did pretty well, but was frightened by the "dark down." It seemed five minutes long with a frightened 2 1/2 year old sitting next to me. She opted not to ride Splash again until a year later, when she was going on four. At that point, she rode Splash, BTMRR and Goofy's and loved them all.

A more adventerous child might have liked Splash better at two and a half. Be prepared for the dark!

There are no age limits, just height, but as others have said just because they're tall enough doesn't mean they should ride.

Have a wonderful trip. Enjoy!

My friend took her DS last year when he was barely two and he was 40 inches tall.He did fine on BTMR but she did hold him firmly against her.He rode it several times. He also loved Test Track and Splash Mtn.

I bet you do get alot of comments. My youngest DD turned two 3/8 and is 36 inches tall-95% on the charts.

They don't really care about the age. It is up to the parent to know if they are old enough to ride it without getting scared. If they meet the height requirement, the CM's generally don't object.

I read on the WDW site that the Barnstormer in Toon Town has an age requirment of at least three but I took my ds on it when he was just two (he was 35" by then) and the cm's never asked or objected. I would start out with that ride and see how he does with it before deciding to take him on anything bigger. It's a very short (like under 1minute) ride and will give you a good idea of not only his tolerance level for speed but how his body will react to the forces of a "bigger" ride.

I'd go by your gut. You know your child. Don't go on something just because he's tall enough and you want to. Go by how he feels about the ride and use Parent Swap whenever needed. At 2 1/2 my DD was up for Barnstormer but nothing else (outside of fantasy land) She's finally ready for more this trip at 5.

For some reason I am reminded of the 4 year who died on Mission Space. Sure, he met the height requirement, but was he really ready for such an intense ride? Obviously not. Dont put your child in any danger just because he can ride the ride. I'm sure you're an excellent parent - I dont mean to imply that you're not. But if you're truly iffy about something, I would suggest waiting for the next trip instead of risking it.

I agree with PP. My DD is 5 and 41 inches. We will be there in August and there are still rides I am going to pass on for her. (Mission Space is a ride I think we will all pass on) Use your gut my DS is 2, but followed in DD's footsteps he's a tiny one. I can't imagine him being ready for some of the more thrilling rides. That's just MHO noone knows your son like you do, if you think he's ready go for it. Have a great trip!

I am surprised to hear that Barnstormer has an age requirement. We took our 1 year old ( 20 months) on it last October and he did fine. HE loved it actually! I will admit that he was quite shocked at the speed and first drop, his wide-eyed expression was worth a million dollars...but he fussed when it was over, when it was time to get off. He wanted to go again!
