Height Requirement / Age question

I'm just worried they'll be suspicious because he won't have a band. Though I assume everyone will think we're just lying about his age for free park admission, but we're really not and he's really going to be only two still in Sept/Oct -- he's a December birthday! I am expecting him to be just over the 100 percentile when he's 3...uh if that's possible? idk lol My oldest daughter is only at the 6th

Yes it is possible LOL...My son at 3 was off the chart in height and weight and was able to ride the AquaDuck on the cruise....and at 4 we took him to WDW and he was able to ride anything (and did and loved them all :) ) he is now 7 and he is 4' 8" tall with shoes on and he will knock you over if he runs into you so good luck with your "little guy" :P

the only age restrictions are for children riding alone.

not having a magic band has nothing to do with him going on rides.

my niece is extremely tall for her ages and at 2yrs4mos rode TT, soarin, and splash mountain.
she did not go on TOT that trip as my sister did not even consider that she'd want to go o9n it.
at 3yrs4mos she did go on TOT and did fine but then did not want to go on again.

if he's tall enough and wants to go on certain rides then take him on them.

Amazing!! :)

Just out of curiosity, why do you mention that your 2 year old DS won't have a band? If you are staying on-site, everybody gets a magic band. Or are you staying off-site and only planning on getting magic bands for everybody with a ticket?

I mentioned the bands only because I thought it'd bring to the attention that he didn't have paid park admission, though I see that there are still paper tickets. I didn't realize.

We're staying at the campsite and I am pretty sure I added all 3 of my kids, but only 7 magicbands are showing up for customization. Does he need to have one? I wasn't concerned, but maybe I should make sure he has one?

He doesn't NEED one but all guests staying onsite are supposed to receive one regardless of age. People have reported infants getting them. You might want to check your reservation and see who's bands can be customized and make sure that everyone's on the reservation.

My infant son is listed on our reso and has a magic band to be customized on MDE.

Do you recall which ones? Maybe I can steer clear of them. Was it Splash Mountain? I remember riding that when it opened and I was quite small and wasn't scared. But I was scared for the longest time of Big Thunder. Hard to tell I guess. I'm more or less thinking of Star Tours, but that may freak him out the most anyway since I doubt he can understand it's simulated. Or maybe he'll think it's really cool. Or maybe I'll scar my kid for life. :crazy2::sad::worried:

Won't be for life he'll ride anything and everything now (at 8). Tower of terror scared the crap out of him, but I saw that one coming. The one that surprised me was splash and Kali. He haaaaated the water (he is also a huge swimmer, so who knows what that was about, maybe the suddenness of it?) . We still do water rides with my kids in ponchos . He got spooked on Dinosaur at Ak. And he hated Ursula in the Little mermaid ride at Dhs. But kids are so different from each other

Are you staying onsite or offsite? Even if your child is under 3, they'll get a band if they're staying at a resort...all resort guests get one regardless of whether they need to have park tickets. Last week, I even saw a couple of itty bitty infants (looked like they were under 3 months old!) with bands around their legs!

ok fingers crossed. Was wondering how many people found discrepancies between rides / parks and how often.

The only place we found a real-seeming difference was actually in Anaheim, at DCA.

You have to be careful with kids who are right on the line, because if they are dehydrated, tired, cranky, or have been on other rides that have put extra forces on their bodies, they can be smaller than they were at the start of the day, and/or just not stand straight and tall. So they appear shorter (or, rather, the sticks appear wrong) when it's just because we all shrink as the day goes on, or she was slouching, etc etc.

Everyone on the reservation gets a MB. If he doesn't show as getting one, I doubt he's on the reservation. Make sure he is.

Good luck! Sounds like you have a great attitude going in. FYI, you can't be in the 100th percentile, a percentile means "greater than ____ %" so if you are in the 99th percentile it means you are taller than 99% of people, you can't be taller than 100% of people because you are included in that number. I have a gigantor too, though she was just 3 when we went. She was scared of Dumbo though so I didn't ever have to get her measured :) My other daughter is only in the 95th percentile and though she is a dare devil last summer she got freaked out by those cars they have outsdie grocery stores....You're lucky to have daring kids, I miss Spash!!!

I had an issue last year where my infant kept dropping off the reservation in MDE each time I modified it (including payment). I had to ring the IT department to have him added back on, reservations couldn't help as he was listed on the reservation already.

I'm laughing reading this, because I'm guessing my will-be-4-YO DD will not make the height cut off for the 40" rides (or at least will be close). She seems about average with her peers (maybe a tad bit short, but not much). It's funny to me what a broad range of heights they have at this age ;-)

We're surprising her with the trip, but I am planning to be very careful about discussing height-requirement rides that she might not make when we get there. She's a bit cautious at first, so I don't know if she would even want to do the mountains, but she does love the kiddie "thrill rides" at sea world, so maybe she will surprise me.

I'm excited to at least do Great goofini and Mine Train with her :-)

Have you thought about trying barnstormer first instead of Mine train as it's the tamest roller coastery type ride at WDW? Mine Train can be quite thrilling even for adults

I always recommend Barnstormer as a first Disney coaster for little kids because they can see the whole ride, and see kids their own age having a good time the whole way through. Taking the mystery out of it means they're less likely to be nervous of the next coaster.

There are no paper tickets. There are bands, or RFID cards. He will have a band if you are staying onsite - they will give you bands for everybody even children under 3. Dont know why he isn't showing if he's registered.

I'm also laughing reading the OP because my daughter was 3years and 11months when we went to Disney and wasn't even 40" either. She barely made the stick for 7Dwarfs at 38". They come in all sizes!!! :)

OP - have your son ride the height rides first thing in the morning. You shrink throughout the day so it gives him a better chance to make the height marker.

I'm pretty sure the Disney height requirements are fairly accurate.

Just last week my 3 year old was 40 inches all day at Magic Kingdom and the next day at Epcot she was 40 inches for Test Track and remarkably less than an hour later wasn't 40 inches to go on Soarin. All with the same shoes on.

Did you know you shrink throughout the day? That may be why?

My daughter had a MagicBand last year. She was 1. She's set to get one this year as well.
