It's no secret that you can call 25 different CM's for whatever reason and get 25 different responses. That's why people should check the WDW website for definitive answers.

Well, even the WDW website is sometimes off. This summer, our family and one relative will be going to WDW. BTW, we are paying for it all.

Anywho, the WDW website said that I can't book AKL for five people, even if I go into the Savannah Deluxe rooms, which I know isn't true. I'll give them a call when I've finalized a date.

I'm sorry to inform you that negligently injuring someone is against the law. When you willfully break the law and commit an act it is not an accident. If I drove my car the wrong way on the interstate just because it is quicker or just plain fun and I injure people is that an accident too ? You should know or at least read all the laws before you try to quote what is a law or not. It has previously been stated that it is againt local ordinances to use heelys in public places as well as against written park policy. You have been shown the rules and the laws but you refuse to admit you might be wrong. May I ask why ? Is your son's pleasure worth more than another child's safety ? Nevermind I know you were not issued a gold embossed copy of the rules when you entered Disney. And if you were I guess you would assume it was only a guide rather than Official rules.

Since I worked in Alabama I will quote the laws I worked under and then Florida law that I think applies at Disney.

Alabama Law Section 13A-6-22
Assault in the third degree.
(a) A person commits the crime of assault in the third degree if:

(1) With intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes physical injury to any person; or

(2) He "recklessly" causes physical injury to another person

Florida Law - ASSAULT; BATTERY; CULPABLE NEGLIGENCE

784.05 Culpable negligence.--

(1) Whoever, through culpable negligence, exposes another person to personal injury commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

For the record: I'm not an armchair cop or lawyer. I was a street cop for over 20 years and now I'm a firefighter. I left the force because I was injured in a motorcycle crash while chasing a speeder. But mainly I'm just a concerned parent who fears for my child's safety. I'm sorry some people feel their child is above the rules and laws. People like them make the world a less happy place. Sorry I lied and got back on the box.

And you know, the funny thing is, people think us Massachusetts residents are too liberal Common sense (which, yeah, I know - ain't all that common): Ignorance of the law - rules, in this case - is NOT a valid defense.

I did follow the rules, toots. I specifically asked the CM when booking our reservations if Heelys were allowed, and she told me yes.

A verbal response from ONE person who, as I indicated in my previous post, may not even actually work for Disney but may be on loan from another company's reservation center (and it DOES happen) holds ZERO weight, especially when it differs from Disney's WRITTEN policy.

I don't know why heelies were even made! It is just a law suit waiting to happen! I mean seriously, what were they thinking!! When someone falls in disney and that person breaks their spine and has to go to the hospitol who are they going to blame? Disney of course! That person is going to come up with a lame excuse and get disney's money instead of the heelie company!
I think heelies should be banned from everywhere so no one can get hurt.

Negligence isn't illegal unless it rises to the level of criminal negligence, and running into someone while wearing Heelys probably doesn't reach that level, even if you are heelying under the influence. Whatever the statute says, there is probably no state in the nation that is going to charge a child with a crime if they knock you down with their heelys. You could sue their parents in civil court if you have injuries and can document damages. And maybe Disney if they're not enforcing the rules, if the rules say they shouldn't be worn in the parks.

To the parents on here that think their children are above the law - YOU are IGNORANT!!! - i have read thur these posts and am amazed at what some people say!!! it is disrespectful and rude when these kids come wizzing by. To those that think they should not be wearing them - your right but you are never going to change the STUPID opinions that some people have. i have no problem with the heeleys when they are worn at the approriate time. Disney is not the right time. i saw plenty of kids run into and fall on our trip this month. why do the CM's say nothing - because of the RUDE parents out there (many who have posted on here) - same applies to me and DH - if your child is wearing them and runs into my child - WATCH out - your child is going to have some serious trouble - as will the parent who was DUMB enough to let their child wear them!!! So to all of you that are trying to change the minds of those that let their kids wear heeleys - DON'T BOTHER - it is a waste of time!!!

Unfortunately, the people who let their kids use these things in the parks do not care what the rest of us think. I don't think they are trying to change our minds as much as trying to justify to themselves why the rules don't apply to them. Which is always a great thing to teach your kid. That they are above the rules. And then these parents will sit back and complain when little Mikey is a teen and doesn't bother to follow the rules they try to set.

The only thing that will change these parent's point of view is when one of their children gets seriously hurt. But even then it will probably be easier to blame Disney than to take any responsiblity themselves.

Does anyone have an address of who we can write to and ask why they bother have rules in the parks (smoking in certain areas, no wheeled shoes) and not have their Cms enforce them? I would love to send a letter and ask.

CM's won't enforce it. Why would they? They could care less about all the people smoking in undesignated areas of the park.

May seem harsh, but here's what should happen:

There should be signs posted outside the entrance that heely's are not allowed, and anyone wearing them, will be kicked out of the park. No need for warnings. Your warning is right outside before you get in.

I HATE those things.

In defense of the poorly paid cast members, I have seen them asking people to stop using the heely's, and MANY times have seen them tell guests that they are not allowed to smoke (wherever they currently are) here, only in designated smoking areas. I am all for you, post the information about the heely's (and smoking too!) outside the park, break the rules, leave.

And you, my friend, are ignorant for equating a rule with a law. Two totally seperate things. And just to play devil's advocate, let's say there was a law banning Heelys. Have you EVER gone over the speed limit on the road? Driven in the left lane of the highway in Florida and not changed lanes when someone approached you from behind? Because you, my friend, are breaking the law when you do that, and you know what they say about people who live in glass houses...

You know they are getting desperate when they thow out the old "But you speed, so I have an excuse to do whatever I want". Trying to divert attention away from themselves and what they are doing. This usually means the poster knows what they are doing is wrong, and they don't have a real reason why they don't stop, so they try to make everyone else feel bad. Sad, isn't it.

Oh, and let me add that I don't speed. So now what?
