Heeleys and DS Lite

See other DS lite posts, well worth buying over there and games too. $30 for a game at $1.95 to the £ is unbeatable. A simple 110v to 240v charger and a 2 to pin plug converter which costs about £8 in total and your laughing.

Cochise , please excuse my ignorance , the charger and converter you refer to above , are they best available in the USA or over here in the UK ? ( and best store to buy ?)

Thanks

Report on the news today that a child was seriously injured by a car when they skated out into the road due to the Heeleys.
A spokesman for the hospital said that they had a rising amount of children injoured whilst wearing these.

Thanks for the advice, I read the papers also! and as a qualified Osteopath I agree they could be bad for posture if worn all day everyday(thats not going to happen).

I never said my daughter was going to wear them in the parks. For the record she can already use the heelys, as she has a pair of the fake ones bought cheap in one of the malls. We never let her bump into people as she uses them in the local park wearing a cycle helmet, knee pads and elbow pads. DH rides a motorcycle to work in London everyday, calculated controlled risks and general enjoyment sometimes work if you supervise and don't worry too much about scare mongers because after all ''you are a longtime dead''

p.s just booked Disney cruise eastbound Panama repo 2008, and no the Heelys won't be going. Don't take this as a flame just an observation and thanks for the shopping advice for those who offered it,

Anyone who has set their heart on buying a DS Lite in Orlando may be in for a let down. I couldn't find them for sale anywhere and they haven't been available really since christmas. An employee at Wal-Mart told me that they are on "Phantom Order" which she said means that they could come at anytime but not to hold my breath. The games are readily available (and half the price) and I bought several, all of which work on UK consoles. Genuine Nintendo extras for the DS are around half price too.

We bought Heelys (Florida Mall $80) and DS light (Walmart) at Christmas time for DS. I would definitely buy the DS Light and games for it over in the US.

The Heelys - Yes DS was wobbly on his Heelys at first and did fall down several times  , but he also fell off his bike several times when he first rode that, and his skate board, and his skis and no doubt he'll crash the car when he starts to learn to drive that.

And yes my heart was in my mouth every time he tried all of these things, but if we never took a risk or chance what a boring life we would all lead.

I truely feel for the parents of the little boy who was injured whilst on his Heelys, but I also think we need to keep things in perspective. Kids will be kids, how many are injured falling off rollerskates or other mobile toys?

Your best bet is to just bin the US charger that comes with it and buy a uk spec 3rd party charger from the likes of ebay or gameplay.co.uk , here is one such model http://www.game.co.uk/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=11230&mid=328834 . You could also get a USB charging lead and just charge from a pc...I got alead for £2 off ebay.

Oh, one more thing...
Buy the DS Lite from Walmart, and Asda will honour the warranty, should it be required.

Yes, the DS Lites themselves are the same wherever you buy them (except for colours), so all you need is a UK charger, like the £7.99 one from Game above.
Don't bin the US charger though, keep it for your next trip to the US :cool1:
