OK,
I just FINALLY watched the DVD disney sent me.
And it showed some locations in MK.
But my consultant said that there are no locations in MK for reception or DP.

So... was she saying there are no locations for my group size or just no locations in general????

ACK!!

Thank you!

wow you got a DVD we tried to get one three times and where told they were not sending them out anymore (that was over the summer). As it always seems you get different stories depending on who you talk too........:confused3

i have 3 of those dvd's. how difficult is it to get their story straight. :confused3 they are pretty much the same as the wishbook and lots of the info on the dvd is outdated.

it's my understanding that they are unable to cater anything in mk so that's why you can't have your reception there. that dvd is old, they still have the jazz club shown in pleasure island and that's been gone for years now. they used to do wedding things at mk, when i was a cp, you could have the engagement package and get proposed to in front of the castle, the coach would pick you up after your dinner at ohana's or something, i don't remember all the details, but i think that dvd is from 2002ish...<serious run on sentence :hippie:

Oy vey... that dvd does look old. But I'm surprised if they let people have a party at MK before why they can't do it now...

sigh...

I asked if you can have a dessert party in the MK and was told there are no areas in the MK that they can do events with dessert parties. I heard that they had dessert parties in the train station before. I am not sure either, why they can't do them anymore.

right on the Disney website in their picture gallery they show couples who had coctail hours at the train station... you think they'd take those off if that wasnt offered any more!

Even the website is seriously out-dated. The best place I have found is Mouseweddings.com. They try to keep themselves up to date. You would think, as much as weddings cost, they could afford a IT guy to keep the site current and even a more efficient email system versus the call, then they call you back.

Well my consultant said that MK has a ceremony option (I don't remember where) for $2500 or $2700 and it has to be done early in the morning before the park opens...

no catering in MK so no reception or dessert party... :(

From what other brides have posted on here over the last couple years, MK wedding events at all are VERY hard to come by. There was a bride on here for a while that did a nighttime MK wedding last year - her pictures were amazing. But, she had to go thru a lot to get her wedding set up and she was told no many times before it happened. They really dont like to do these events because the park has to be closed and emptied before they'll set it up. For a while the min to do a MK wedding was $50k, then it jumped to $500k, then after that was when they started saying you could only do morning ceremonies. I haven't seen any brides on here say they were able to do any type of food event in MK, just that one ceremony.

So, if you REALLY want to do a MK event and you're willing to pay BIG $$$$, keep pushing your planner or call the head of DFTW.

sigh...

I was told in September at our menu tasting that they were shooting a new video this fall in October and November, so hopefully the new version should be out soon.

I also requested my reception at the MK and was turned down. I spoke to my planner today and she told me that the reason they don't do them any more is because they no longer have the permit to serve food outside of the licensed restaurants.
