In Papa Deuce's thread about the new Smart car - several people mentioned that they might consider it if it had heated seats. I guess I was kind of surprised at the number of people who considered heated seats a real requirement.
Are these really that important? I have a new Odyssey (it's my dad's really) that has them but it is late June and in Arkansas and Louisiana so that's sort of a moot point.
I've never had a car that had them although when a friend used to borrow my Odyssey in CA she would trade me her SAAB convertible that had them. I used the heated seats in CA with the top down as it is always cold at night in CA.
An aside - whenever she would borrow my Odyssey she would keep it a couple of weeks even though she only needed it for a weekend. We worked in the same building and lived a mile apart so it wasn't like it was hard to make the swap. She just liked my Odyssey. As someone who owned a convertible for almost 2 decades it was fun to have a convertible for awhile although I sure missed the space in the Odyssey. One time I bought 2 lampshades, and I had to put the top down to get them home in the SAAB.

I love it! BUT... it also COOLS... so on those hot summer days you don't sit on hot black leather! If you keep the fan on high the fans will turn on automatically even w/the car is off so it doesn't get hot inside the car! Best of both worlds. The only thing I don't like about my car is that you can't get the auto start on them
. The dealership spent 8 hours trying and just couldn't do it.
Maybe because I've never had a car that had them--I have no clue what I'm missing out on.
