My friend just got back from a 7 day at the parks. They did not do much at all because she said the heat was too much. We plan on a 7 day in July. Is the heat really so bad you can't do things or are they just no used to it. I'm from Oklahoma and we have a lot of heat! Any helpful ideas in how to beat the heat?

:surfweb:

We're from Maine, not much heat up here. We went last August and there was only one day that was really hot & humid. We still went to the parks, it wasn't bad enough to keep us down. We 're planning another trip this August. We will just plan ahead with plenty of water to drink and our misty mates to keep us cool. We also plan more indoor rides on the really hot days.

Keep in mind, last week and earlier this week southern FL went through a pretty major heat wave. It's also not only heat but heat & humidity combined. They had some pretty heavy duty rains a few nights ago.

I have a friend there now, he pm'd me and said that yesterday the humidity was basically gone and they were actually able to pull a full day at EP without taking a break.

That said, yup - expect heat. Go early mornings, take mid-day breaks - change your clothes (you will feel like $1M) and head back to the parks in the evenings.

We were there last week and the heat and humidity were bad, I had sweat pouring off of me. We made sure everyone sipped water constantly, used misting fans, and when we felt the heat was getting to be too much we went in air conditioned attractions. We didn't take a mid day break, but we did avoid things like the parades where we would be just sitting in the sun baking.

That would be all to nice not to have the humidity. I can handle the heat. Here in OK we have both. Maybe we will get lucky.

Everyone is different, but we have been there twice in the summer and we will never do it again. It's just too hot and humid to be outside for any length of time. Even going to the pool is not very enjoyable because the pool water is hot. I think it's the humidity that makes it so unbearable, it doesn't even cool down much at night. Obviously it doesn't bother some people because the parks are packed in the summer, this is just my opinion.

I was at WDW last week and it was miserably hot!!! We went out early mornings - back in the room mid-day - back out about 7 for a late night in the parks. I do believe that it was the hottest that WDW has ever been when I was there!! Drink LOTS of water and invest in a fan/water mister (it was the best $15 I spent while at WDW)

The heat wave has broken. It is still hot, but nothing like it was last week. We are now in our normal summer pattern.

ITA! We were there last week too, and we did the exact same thing. The first few days were okay, but the last couple of days were almost unbearable. But it was Disney, and we still had a blast!

We were there last week and it was insanely hot! I swore I would never return in a summer month. lol But it is true the Fla was in a heat wave. It did hit 100 or close to it a couple days. Though this did not stop us from doing things. We did spend 2 days at the h2o parks. I guess it it the luck of the draw! I m sure you will survive!

Out here in West Texas - it is already 105 degrees outside by 11 am.

We figure we can be here with 105 or at Diseny with 105 ! ;)
