Heat vs Crowds (September vs October)

DH are in the beginning planning stages for our next trip, and trying to pick a month. We want to go for F&W, and decided on Sept or Oct. From what I've been reading, September is one of the least crowded months to visit, with summer-like brutal heat. And I've read that October has more crowds but is cooler. I'm wondering if the difference in crowds and/or heat are substantial? I can't see the temps just drastically dropping in a couple weeks worth of time, but I'm just guessing. I'm more worried about crowds than the heat, but if it's a huge difference, I'd consider going in October. Thank you in advance!

There's not going to be much change in temperature. October will be less likely to rain vs September..but it'll be hot still both months. Humidity might drop a little as well the later you go in October.

Temps really aren't affected until mid to late December, sometimes not until Jan.

You CAN get a shift in temps in October. But it's certainly not something to plan a trip around.

The closer you can get to Labor Day the better. Most schools in the northeast start school the day after Labor Day, and most parents are hesitant to take their kids out the first week or two of school. Later in the month is still not terrible, but can be far busier than early September. The earlier they start F/W, the busier it tends to get then.

It's so unpredictable here in Florida it's unbelievable, but it should be cooler. I'm not sure if you were planning to go to MK, if you were just remember the Halloween Party goes on from select night late Sept-Oct and guests without a ticket have to leave at 7! If you aren't going to MK then disregard that part and have fun!

Thank you @mom2rtk and @Lightsoutx12 ! If we did September, I was hoping to travel 9/9-9/17, but we're having trouble finding rooms at our resort (CSR). So far looks like the dates we'd have to go are 9/16-9/24. If they are having the MNSSHP during our trip, we will attend. Not sure how early they start it. Thank you for your help! :)

We had both crowds AND heat for our October trip last year. Others had crowds and a hurricane.

I find summer to be temperature hotter but sept/oct to be very close but higher humidity. It's not something to worry about but it's the more active hurricane time, very rare for that to happen to central florida but longer or many short rain storms is more common than the rest of the rainy season where it's short and over daily.

again don't plan around this but if your on the fence of a couple different times of year, that might be the difference for you.

I read somewhere that the dates should be announced in March- May so hopefully we'll all know soon! I believe the week you're going is the week they usually first start it!

I've been to Orlando the last Octobers. We always go the 3 or 4th week. I've found them to be quite comfortable, highs around mid 80s and the humidity wasn't too bad. I don't think it rained on us at any point during our last 3 stays either, and if it did, it was nothing significant.

We ave gone the first week in September the last 3 years and love it. Not crowded, so able to enjoy pool, lounge time in the heat of the afternoon and late nights at parks. We also went to a Thursday night Halloween event and had a blast.

There were multiple reports here this past Fall of September being too hot to enjoy Food & Wine noshing.

I was there this past September and towards the end of the month. The crowds were the same like any summer day. The heat was also brutal to enjoy Food and Wine. I wanted to try so much, but the heat took away my appetite. However, weekends were way more busy at EPCOT than on the weekdays.

We went 10/21-10/30 in 2014. The crowds weren't crazy and the weather was glorious!!! I mean the weather was so nice that I was happy a few other things went wrong while we were there (not Disney related) otherwise we'd never have a trip as good as that one.

I read the last week this past October was also pleasant and not too bad crowd wise (it's all relative). On here and another site.

We are going later this year, 10/25-11/3.

Have fun!

Last year (2014) we went the first week of September and the first week of November. November was just as warm as September.

Thank you everyone for your advice! We went for our honeymoon this past August, so I figure if we can survive that, September should be fine. I just wanted to make sure October's temps didn't drastically drop, or else that would persuade me. I think we'll stick to September and keep our fingers crossed for low crowds. Thanks everyone!
