Heat, Humidity, and Our Favorite Disney Dog Was a Thug! LINK TO NEW PTR!!

Great updates! I love that with PP+ you get the ride photos! It looks like you are really enjoying AK, even though it was so hot! Why does AK always seem about 10 degrees hotter than the rest of WDW?

I don't think I commented on Willow's Halloween costume yet, it is beautiful! I love it! Great job!:thumbsup2

I just love all the character pics you got! I didn't even know there were THAT many! :scared1:

Your EE photos or so fun! I just love the last one.

I love Mickey bars, but hardly ever have any because they melt faster than you can unwrap them in the summer. We usually buy some at the OKW general store, put them in the cooler, run to the car and off into the fridge with them. I just LOVE sitting out on the balcony at night and enjoying one. No way could I eat one in a park. You were pretty brave you tried! :goodvibes

Love all the character pics! How cute was Russell!?! We can't wait to meet him. Willow does look so hot in some of those pictures. You were so brave to be out--but when you have characters to meet, it's totally worth it. Cute EE ride picture--Willow looks like she's having a blast!!

Oh Animal Kingdom in August:scared1: I know that heat! We didn't meet Russel last trip because the line was always so long, but I kinda wish we would have waited. He's so cute! I want to meet Mickey and Minnie in their new digs too. I think this is the only place they meet together these days so that will be a must do next trip!

Now you know AK is my favorite park but I STILL have not made it over to the new M & M meet/greet area I'm glad you posted it You know what I thought immediately with the framed pictures in there ? I thought of Walt & Lillian I'm talking about the picture where Mickey appears to be overseeing the work being done and Minnie is standing slightly behind him ( because behind every successful man is a strong woman perfect example if it wasn't for Lillian you'd be going to meet Mortimer :faint::lmao:)

To me it captured the whole spirit of Walts dream for FL I now have a mission to either take a picture of that picture or search for a poster if one exists and I DO get obsessed when I get a must do in my head Also really like the picture of Mickeys hand reaching out for the fuzzy yeti Cute ! ( the 4th one )

I forget have you ever been here during the holiday season ?I saw the Christmas tree in AK last night breathtaking you would both love all the details on the tree ( I'll be posting pictures this week I am still working on the Oct Dismeets & MNSSHP and now the MVMCPs have begun...where does the time go ? )

Loving your character photos and it's so cute that they all love your handiwork.

The ice show looks fun and what great seats you had :goodvibes

Love the photo ops, and that ride pic is amazing. I was so happy we did + when I saw some of our ride photos (and if I ever get my TR updated I can share some!)
:rotfl2: I had thought we had agreed on a princess pose, while apparently Willow had thought we had agreed on an "act scared" pose. :rotfl2:

The ride photos were a great plus from PP+ - I wasn't really that excited about that aspect when I purchased PP+, but I think it ended up being my favorite thing about it! It is just so dang fun to have them!!!

I loved getting the ride photos too! I really didn't think I would be that excited about them, but they are so fun to have!! :thumbsup2

You know, that is usually my feeling at AK too - that it is hotter than the surface of the sun. For some reason, on this trip, it just didn't feel like that - I think it may have been because it was less crowded than the other parks. :confused3

I don't think I commented on Willow's Halloween costume yet, it is beautiful! I love it! Great job!:thumbsup2
Oh, thank you so much! I was pretty happy with how it came out.

I just love all the character pics you got! I didn't even know there were THAT many! :scared1:
 Yeah - we are major character seekers. Just wait - there are even more coming! :scared:

Your EE photos or so fun! I just love the last one.
Thanks! I loved that last one too - hilarious! I believe we had a miscommunication - I thought we'd agreed on a princess pose, and Willow thought we'd agreed on an "act scared" pose. :rotfl2:

Oh, what a great way to enjoy Mickey bars! We were not prepared for how fast that sucker was going to melt - we haven't had that issue during our October trips.

Oh, we just loved Russell - he was so sweet! It was definitely hot, but we were not nearly as miserable as we were on the other days - I think the crowds were lower at AK.

Russell was great! And we loved the new spot for Mickey and Minnie - air conditioning!!!! :cool1:  I think you're right - that is the only place where they are together now, isn't it???

Oh, that is a great thought! I loved those pictures so much. It's a really neat spot to meet them, and the air conditioning is a great touch!

Oh - I can't wait to see the tree pics! No, we have never been during the holidays. :( I am kind of toying with the idea of a little trip to Disneyland during the holiday season next year though, since we'll have the APs.

Loving your character photos and it's so cute that they all love your handiwork.
Thanks! We definitely try to make the most of the character opportunities.

The ice show looks fun and what great seats you had :goodvibes
It was a ton of fun! And we felt very lucky to have such great seats. ::yes::

Catching up again..always catching up!

I love that Willow wore her Cinderella gown to Target! We once went to the grocery in Belle’s yellow gown, complete with hoop skirt. Isn’t it funny, you either get the looks of “that’s too cute” or “you’re a crazy parent for letting your child go out in that”.

I heard that this Disney on Ice show was much better than the previous ones.
Oh…the Ice Capades…I remember going and thinking the skaters were so magical!

So the boneyard is like the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground?? You can’t find your kid in there and when you do, they are someplace so small that you can’t fit in to drag them out of it? Got it! So far we have avoided it but that records sure to not last forever.

Willow’s expression on the EE ride is priceless!

EE is one of my favorite rides!
It's great, isn't it!?

 You and me both!

I just love that they like to sport their princess gowns in everyday life - I mean, who wouldn't feel better about the drudgery of the day to day if you could look that good!

We have only done last year and this year - I think they were equally entertaining. :confused3

Oh yeah - I LOVED going to those shows with my mom!

To date, I have managed to stay away from the HIStK playground (is it still operational???), but I think the concept is the same - nightmare for parents! :scared1: :rotfl2:

Willow’s expression on the EE ride is priceless!
Wasn't that funny??? We obviously got our wires crossed as to what emotion we were trying to portray!

All caught up!:goodvibes
Loving all the pictures :cloud9:
Thanks! I'm glad you're reading along! :woohoo:

Hey, Why Don’t We Meet Some Characters?

We finally made it to Camp Minnie-Mickey and headed right into the line for two of DD’s favorites this trip.

We were really having such a happy day at AK!

DD’s chipmunk friends were, once again, a blast!

Their page:

The meet-and-greet spots over here are really cool. And we love the way that they are down little paths and feel kind of private. It’s a great spot - I hope they aren’t planning to do away with it with all the changes coming.

Next up were King Louie and Baloo. They had to go off for a little break right when we got to the front of the line, but they were back quickly. They made everyone cheer before they would come all the way back out. Finally, the cheers were loud enough that King Louie came out. But Baloo held back - he motioned for louder cheering and didn’t emerge until he got it. HAHA

DD hung out with the King while Baloo was signing our page.

Then Baloo wanted to dance with DD.

But she just wanted hugs.

Baloo tried to get the PP photog to dance, but she refused. So, before I knew it, I saw this coming my way!

Yep - Baloo was darn well going to dance with someone! HAHA

Baloo’s page. (I didn’t really know for sure who would be meeting here when I made this page, so I just did a generic “Africa” page.)

Donald was next, and he loved his autograph page - especially the “No. 1.”

And Donald’s page:

Unfortunately, after Donald, Pocahontas was not out and wouldn’t be back at a time that we could meet her. However, we realized that we had met every character in AK except Pocahontas, Rafiki and Dug! We were pretty pleased with ourselves!!!

Up Next: We Finally See a Show!

We Finally See a Show!
So, having met almost every character in AK, we were ready to go ahead and head out. We had an early dinner ADR tonight, so it would be a good idea for us to get going back to the resort. It was about 2:30 at this point. However, as we were walking by, FotLK was just about to start.

We have never seen it (although we have seen the amazing Broadway production) - I was sure that DD would nix this idea; for some reason, she just never wants to stop for shows at Disney. :confused3 But she really wanted to do it!! They were just letting the last people in, so we were among the very last few for “standing room only.” And that worked out great - we were taken all the way around from the entrance and given seats in the disabled seating area (I think by this point, they were simply filling in unused space). We had a great view and we just LOVED this experience!

After the show, we really did need to head out. Our ADR was for 5:25, and we both needed to shower and cool down before we headed out for that. We made it to the bus stop at about 3:15

And we were on a bus a little before 3:30.

We made it back to our room just before 4:00. Our Mousekeeper always arranged all of Willow’s stuffies and blankies in such cute ways.

Somehow we managed to shower, get dressed, get all our stuff together, and be out the door again by 4:15! :scared1: I have NO idea how we did that!

At some point today, DD took this pic. :rotfl2: Yeti = AK Joy!

Up Next: We Meet the Real Chef

Oh, Chip and Dale! They are so cute, you just want to hug them forever. I love Camp Minnie & Mickey! Unfortunately I think they are getting rid of it for Avatarland. It’s such a neat area.

Cute hat with Baloo!

Did you see the touring show of Lion King or the Broadway version? The touring one is coming in our area next April and my husband and I were debating if the girls would like it. They’ve only seen the AK version! They do enjoy a good show.

Quick question about Willow’s dresses; I think you said you made them, did you get the fabric that is already smocked at the top or did you do that? My girls would love dresses like that and I can sew basic stuff. I’ve seen some fabric that is already smocked so all you really need to do is size it and sew it –that I think I could tackle. Of course the when part of the equation is the hard part.

Christine

I really enjoy reading about your trip, strange as this may be your daughter and mine look so much alike in some of the pictures. She seems like she is a great traveler. pixiedust:

It's great when you are just walking by and a show is about to start!

All caught up! :-)

Love how your DD loves characters. My kiddos get a few autographs but really just get the ones when we do character dinning.

You did a great job on her fairy costume!

Enjoying your TR!

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid will happen. :( I have faith that they'll make another great meet-and-greet area or something, but I just love the set-up there - so unique!

Cute hat with Baloo!
Thanks! I am very fair-skinned, so I had to have a hat this trip; the one I brought had gotten very crumpled, so I actually picked that on up at AK that day. Terrible pic of me, but I just thought the whole scene with Baloo was hysterical! :rotfl2:

I probably should have noted that it was the touring show, huh? Sorry - didn't mean to cause any confusion. We are big theater fans, so we try to get over to Portland (about 4.5 hours away) for at least one show a year. Willow was only 3, I think, when we saw that one, and she enjoyed it. My mom and I were actually just going to pull the trigger on buying tickets to it for this year in Seattle, but I think we've decided to see Sister Act this year instead. :thumbsup2

I did make all the little smocked sundresses and maxis! I actually did the smocking myself - it is very easy (I would be happy to share how if you want to PM me, although you could probably get a better tutorial on-line ), and the pre-smocked fabric seems way over-priced to me. Plus, this way, I could let Willow choose any fabric she wanted. :thumbsup2
