One of my best friends, who is a DIS board member and lurks on the community board, was talking to a CM on the phone yesterday and her hubby is a CM at FW. She told them about the rumor for the personal golf carts being banned from FW, and he told her that he had not heard of such a thing, but that rumor comes up every year. Just hoping that this relieves some anguish of cart owners, like myself.

Thanks for the update Jen! I really don't think FW would banish personal carts, but it's always nice to be reassured! :goodvibes

Yeah Jen, that rumor has been going on since at least 2000, that I'm aware of. Can you imagine all the trouble if they told people at check-in, "Uh,,,, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to leave the cart in the over-flow lot." I wouldn't want to be the one to have to say that for $7.75/hour - or any $$ per hour!!

I don't think anyone could be paid enough for the abuse they would receive by me if I had to put my cart in overflow.

Well I heard from a reliable source which is my sister in law's third cousin twice removed and she heard it from the daughter of her third husband's aunt Elma, that the only cart that would be banned would be Rog's.

Now if you can't believe Aunt Elma, who can you believe!!!!

:lmao: Sorry I had to go the run around, the people asked not to be mentioned by name and so I went around the barn instead of through it...

I will have to ask them about Rog though:lmao:

Geeez....with friends like you guys...who needs constipation!!!! ;)

Man, I'm glad to hear that. I just picked up a surplus Stryker that I am going to call a golf cart and I sure would hate it if FW said I couldn't bring it. I'm just wondering where all you guys are going to park when I haul into the parking area by Pioneer hall to plug in.

Yea, I don't see Disney doing this anytime soon, it would upset a lot of their customers. Then again, you never know with Disney :/

I think you're right Chris. Disney does do some funny stuff sometimes. I think with the economy slowdown the fort is going to feel a big impact from it. Fuel has almost doubled making it almost impossible for some to take the hit to drive down here. I almost think WDW is going to have to make some specials for our far away friends to be able to come down. A couple free nights campsite, free dining or something. Maybe I'm wrong but in hearing from some others the fort has been slow lately even on the weekends.

I hear that. Maybe since I'm at the fort so much I'll swing by and get the manager to send you some coupons Scott. :rotfl2: :lmao:

I really do feel for you guys who live so far away. It takes away the magic almost. Maybe when I get too old to climb smokestacks I'll get a job at the fort and get you a discount lol.

There was a news story on CNN this morning talking about how R/V campers are being hit hard by the rising gas prices. In fact, they were doing the story from a local park in South Florida, Markham Park, which has a really nice R/V park setup.

I agree, as busy as the Fort has gotten in the last few years, Disney just got a big wallop. They probably have been planning the renovations at the Fort for years, and now are pouring all the money into it. Only to have gas prices rise sharply, which probably means for at least the new few years they are not going to be nearly as busy as they have been the last few years.

The gas bills for some people are basically going to double, and it just won't be worth it for them to drive all the way to the Fort. The problem is, Disney also works slowly, so by the time they actually react to slowdowns in the Fort, it will be quite a while from now.

My neighbor who sold me my 5'er told me yesterday that hybrids and pop ups are moving quickly these days. I looked at the Cub 31 over the weekend with the deck on front again and 4k pounds lighter and will still do the job is looking more and more enticing. Anybody looking for a 31' FW toy hauler lol. I would give anything to get my little 21' toy hauler back with these fuel prices.

Diesel hit $4.39 a gallon here today. Now our camping consists of trips of less than 50 miles. Was going to haul the 5'er to Marco Island in July to the wife's aunt's 90th birthday party. I think instead we might rent an economy car and drive those eight hours.

Don't forget me at $4.40 a gal. we are looking at $900.00 in
fuel round trip.:scared:

Yep, that is what it is here in South Florida as well. Two weeks ago, when it was 4.11, we decided to put 75 dollars in the rv, glad we did.
