Me and DFi are going to DLR this May for my birthday and an early anniversary (we were engaged June 9,2008 in Disneyland and my bday is May 9). We booked at the Jolly Roger Hotel. I've read good and bad reviews on it, but I just wanted to see if anyone on here has had some personal experiance with it.

Oh, and I heard that DLR got a new celebration button that says "Just Engaged". Has anyone seen these?

All that I have heard is how awful it is. Seriously, get out while you still can..:scared1:

ive heard mixed reviews see about changing to 1 hojo or two desert inn those would be two close ones an maybe fit what your looking for

I stayed there for one night with my aunt last May and for all the bad I've heard about it (and for how shady it seemed when I was a kid driving past it to go to DL), I was pleasantly surprised. The room was on the small side (so it's not ideal if you're planning on spending a chunk of time each day hanging out in the room like some people, esp. with little kids, enjoy doing), but it was very clean, as was the bathroom. The staff were friendly (the guy at the front desk had no problem giving me change for a dollar). Parking was never a problem (unlike some places over by Disneyland) and we were able to keep the car there from the moment we arrived in the area in the morning to the moment we left at night. The walk can be a bit after a long day on your feet at the park, but it's doable. You can also take the Lion King tram (if it's up and running depending on if they have to open those lots to take in overflow parking) and then cross at the Anaheim Convention Center crosswalk, which saves a little time and some walking. As just a place to rest your head at night after spending all day in the parks, I give it my stamp of approval.

If you go let us know how it is as we are booked in for June. Reports I have seen since it has been renovated suggest it is quite nice now. I thought for the price and proximity it seemed ok.

We are annual passholders so we plan on driving to the park and using our free parking, so the walk isn't a big deal. And we are not going to spending much time in our room, expect sleeping and showering. But I'm glad to hear the bathrooms are clean, that is my number one thing.

I'll definatly report back on how it was. I'm excited to be staying somewhere new.pirate:

I stayed there last September and it was fine. The price was right and the walk, while long, wasn't too bad. If you're using a car then no biggie. This year we'll be staying closer because we're walking. But for what you pay for, it was good! :)

I read the bad reviews, too...I'm never sure what people really expect when they write those, but whatever. For us it was fine. :)

As promised I have come back to report on our stay at Jolly Roger.

We enjoyed it. Bearing in mind we were on about hotel/motel number 15 on our trip.

The room was smaller than it looked on the internet, but very clean.

You mentioned you probably won't do the walk and will use the car park. Even with two small children we didn't find it that bad. We had one in a pushchair and the other was usually on his Dads shoulders. We also at the end of the day used the tram to the Lion King??? carpark and walked from there, I don't think it saved much time but it saved a wee bit on our legs.

The pool was nice and clean and fresh looking, they supplied towels.

It isn't the flashest we have stayed at but for the price I certainly had no complaints.

There are NO eating facilities onsite however, even though the website says they have one, but it isn't far from other eateries especially as you have a car.

Have a good time.
