I'm on a healthy snack mission for my family.

I'm buying an air popper. Instead of melted butter and loads of salt - what can I add for a little flavor?

What do you all like?

Thanks :)

A little bit of butter (or olive oil) and nutri-yeast, which gives it a cheesy flavor. Nutri yeast is wicked high in B vitamins and protein, I put on the butter just to help it stick, otherwise it just falls to the bottom. It also is good on noodles with butter.

I used to use Butter Buds when I DID eat popcorn... alas I had to give it up after an attack.. I miss it though.

I once went to a premiere with a health conscious coworker who brought her own air popped popcorn... and she topped it with PEPPER!!! :scared1: It was horrendous!!!

Well, we pop it on the stove (in a pot--like in ancient times:rotfl2: ) so this option won't work for you air popper, but we use olive oil to pop it in and hte flavour is so good we really do not need anything else!

Other ideas that we like:
A sprinkle of kosher salt
cinnamon sugar (mixed very heavy on the cinnamon
Italian seasoning (DS calls this pizza corn)

I can't believe its not butter spray.

I have an air popper and I love it. I use the Molly McButter Lite, Mrs. Dash, Cavender's Greek Seasoning, whatever I grab out of the spice cabinet and throw on. I actually like cracked black pepper on my popcorn. It gives it a little kick.

I like the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray, too. The bottle says zero calories for five sprays. Add a tiny bit of No-Salt or real salt and it's great.:thumbsup2

I use either I can't believe it's not butter spray and parmasean cheese OR I use Mr. Kernel (I think that is what it is called) topping. They have like nacho cheese, white cheddar and others. They are just something you sprinkle on and they are REALLY good.

My sister and I used to use the cheese packet that you get in boxes of Mac & Cheese and sprinkle it on popcorn. I don't know if it's healthy, but it sure tasted good. :rotfl:

We use Butter Buds when we make our own popcorn "from scratch."

I'll have to try some of these other ideas, though!

Cheddar shake from Cabot Cheese. In our house, we simply call it popcorn cheese. My son and I LOVE this stuff and fight over the popcorn. LOL We have an Orville Redenbacher microwave popper and we use a little peanut oil then top it with the cheese. It's so yummy and I have it just about every night for my snack.

When we had an air popper we would do a mix of Old Bay seafood seasoning and Kraft Parmesean cheese. It was awesome.

I drizzle a little maple syrup on it & eat it w/ chopsticks, I'm such a wackadoo I know!:thumbsup2

Sugar free hot chocolate - not the drink - just the powder!

yummy and you get that sweet/salty combo!
