Hi all!

I am a long time viewer of the boards, but no posts. I've been following the weight watchers plan now for about 6 weeks and love it.

DFiancee and I will be going to disney February 2nd-9th (soooo bummed splash mountain is being refurbed BUT now my risks of pneumonia are down :cool1: )

We have Advanced Reservations at The Plaza Restaurant, Mama Melroses, and Rainforest Cafe. ANy suggestions on eating well at these places without (totally) going offplan?

Hello from a fellow WW'er!

I have looked at the menus for your restaurant choices at allears.net and here's what I came up with in terms of what I might choose:

The Plaza Restaurant
Grilled chicken sandwich (hold the cheese)
or the vegetarian sandwich hold the chips
or the turkey sandwich hold the bacon and mayo...possibly sub the potato salad for something else if they'd let you

Mama Melrose
Vegetarian Minestrone
Mixed green salad (hold the gorgonzola cheese)
for an entree--possibly the salmon?

Rainforest Cafe
(this one is harder...sifting through the yummy looking fried options! They also have some entree salads that could be deceiving...I bet the points on these are a lot higher than you'd expect!!)
I'd go for:
paradise house salad, dressing on the side (or I like salsa instead of dressing)
Rainforest natural (meatless) burger
OR the plant sandwich (portabella mushroom & other veggies) hold dressing

If you are feeling like more of a serious entree...the tuscan chicken could be ok, but I'd hold the olives (personal preference) and the sauce

If you're a meat eater, the filet is a lean cut of meat, but you'd have to hold the steak butter for sure...and watch the portion size. Maybe split??

Good luck!!

thanks Chris!

We're right on par with the plaza! I pre WW wouldve done the burger but the turkey sandwich was on my list for this visit.

I was thinking for Mamas I could do salad with low cal dressing and HALF of a flatbread instead of the full flatbread I wouldve eaten before. Or the salmon like you suggested (mmm i love salmon).

Ive heard great things about rainforest...the filet would be good or the chicken.

Youre right about entree salads (theyre usually over half a days points!)

Just wanted to say hi from another WW member. We leave on Sunday for our first trip since I started WW back in October and I'm a little nervous. So much so that I'm cooking most meals in our villa. When we're at MK I plan on having a taco salad at Peco Bills for lunch and the roasted chicken and veggies at Columbia Harbor House.

To the OP, I hope you do well while you are away! Are you trying to lose or maintain while you on vacation? My goal is come home with a small loss. That would make me very very happy.

At the Plaza I had the meatless/veggie burger. Any time you eat a sandwich or burger anywhere, only eat one side of the bun or bread, or leave it off entirely. Most of the calories in a sandwich or burger is the bread/bun! My dh had the veggie sandwich at the Plaza and it looked really yummy. Again, he didn't eat all the bread though!

I've lost 75 pounds on WW through 3 trips to WDW. It can be done! :goodvibes Just think small portions. Eat what you want, just don't eat it all. ;)

So far Ive lost about 13 lbs on WW (Started December 1st).

I hope to at least maintain weight while on vacation but losing an extra lb...well lets face it that would be awesome!

I appreciate everyones support and advice, its been great.

I think ive basically decided to for the most part make healthy choices (salads, chicken, etc) BUT for the moments when I am letting myself enjoy the more point laded foods...ill just eat less and do less damage :-)

Congrats on everyone's weight losses!

I've been doing WW for over a year now and have done 4 WDW trips over that time. I lost about 37 lbs and have maintained my goal weight for about 5 months or so now. I didn't gain any weight on any of our WDW trips. I did allow a treat each day but also tried to fit in a workout each day as well.

Many posters suggested particular menu items. I tend to agree with many things that have been recommended as well. What I do prior to each trip is I look at all of the menus to the places I have ADRs. Then I pretty much highlight my options. In some cases I will splurge a bit and just eat 1/2 of the entree and in many cases I will order an appetizer and a salad instead. Sauces, mayos, dressings are always on the side for me. Then I can just dab a bit as I like:-)

The Plaza has a delicious veggie sandwich. It does have mozzarella cheese (but that makes it real yummy). I actually ate it as an opened face sandwich by taking off the top part of the bun which saves a point or 2. The dressing was also on the top part so just a touch of it ended up on the tomato which was just enough for me. I ate half of the broccoli slaw.

Stick with fish or grilled chicken everywhere else and if you can't find it on the menu ask if it can be done that way. "Most" WDW places are good about being flexible to "dietary" needs.

If you can also do some exercising each day that will help burn any of those extra calories you may not intend to take in. I know you can easily walk 10 miles in a day at WDW but most of it is stop and go and it's not real cardio type of exercise. If you can fit 1 or 2 cardio workouts during your trip that will be a great plus!

There is another thread where we have been talking about healthy options to eat for WW. I have looked at all the menus too and know I will go a little overboard. But am hoping to not do too bad!!!! I am not a big sweet fanatic but you know what I would LOVE to split with DH -- one of those Schoolbreads in Norway!!! :scared1: Do you think I can walk it off???

I have done well with the WW plan (flex) and have now lost 30 lbs!!! YEA (ok gained a couple back over the holidays but I SWEAR it was that New Year's Eve Summer Sausage with crackers I ate -- I couldn't resist & weigh in was Jan 2nd for me!) -- anyway ... by Feb I hope to be down a few more. I have 10 more to go to make lifetime - whoo-hoo!!

Good luck to all!! :thumbsup2
