Just got this email from Dollar.....

"The Dollar Express Terms and Conditions have been updated to include a new way to refuel. After January 6, 2016, your next rental utilizing the Dollar Express Program will constitute your acceptance of the amended terms and conditions.

Sometimes, the last thing you want to do before returning your rental is search for a gas station to refuel your tank. That’s why we created Express Fuel™ — so you don’t have to. You can drive up to 75 miles without refilling the tank for just $13.99.*"

What this means is that if you rent a car and drive less than 75 miles, you will automatically be charged $14 UNLESS you how them a gas receipt, or have purchased the refuel option.

Given current gas prices (under $2/gallon) and most cars mpg (~30), this is obviously not a good deal. So be careful--if you refuel within 10 miles you should be okay. But it can be a sneaky way for them to generate revenue. Here's a link to the FAQ

I'll keep my eye on this but this Oct we drove to and from MCO, staying at BoardWalk, to AK once and Goodings, pretty sure less than 75 miles. Also, we got a compact car for 11 days and some hours next Oct for $196 so we'll take our chances.

The link above does not work. It tries to send an email as opposed to receive the paragraphs of the FAQ.

Now, if you drive more than 75 miles and don't refill the tank within 10 miles of the airport and show a gas receipt if asked, then they will charge you more than the $13.99 to refill the car for you after you return it.

Yup...my bad typing. And thanks for the usable link.

If I rent from Dollar, I have started filling up at the Circle K on Boggy Creek, just to make sure I'm within the 10 miles.

Last time I returned a rental car (Alamo in my case), I used the new-ish Wawa station a mile or two north of the airport at Semoran and Lee Vista. They have many pumps and a sizeable convenience store. Just take care NOT to stop at the notorious ripoff gas station on Semoran; you drive past it en route to the Wawa.
