Due to a new boat design (Disneyland model), the boats are now heavier in the front and individuals riding in the first row are getting very wet when going down the drop. We rode POC this afternoon and my two DDs were seated in row one and we were in row six. The first thing I noticed was that the floor of the boat was very wet and the seats were wet on the sides. When my DDs got off the ride, they told us that at the bottom of the drop a sizable wave hit them and they got soaked. Both of them looked like they had just ridden Splash Mountain instead of POC. I spoke with one of the CMs and she told me that because of the boat design, anyone riding in row one is getting very wet at the bottom of the drop. She also said that they were currently working on installing signs alerting riders to be aware they will get wet.

Rode in the back row of this new boat design. Fair warning, if the boat is not evenly weighed down, when you hit the bottom of that drop, we crashed into the barrier that keeps the boat "on track".. Our boat had all the "husbands" (heavier) on one side, and all the "wives" (lighter) and children on the other. We hit the barrier with such force that if the person sitting next to me had not grabbed the back of my jacket, I would have fallen in. She completely smashed up her knee, huge bruise, and I literally almost hit the water. I'm shocked that this has not been an addressed issue... Has anyone else run into this issue?

Yes, we encountered this last night. First time its ever happened after many, many rides on this ride.

~We sat one row from the back of the new boats, all four of us were in the same row and none of us got wet. I didn't even realize we were in brand new boats!

~I just *love* the fresh, clean look of the new boats -- they look way better that those nasty old run down boats.

~With that said, this is not the first time I have heard of this complaint. I am disappointed because this appears to be a classic case of beauty versus function. Ugh. :(

~Ewww, that water is so beyond gross -- I would gladly take the gross looking, run down boats back, if it means I have a better chance of remaining dry, lol. :goodvibes

I was not aware of the new boats, and was thoroughly soaked the last time I rode POC a few months ago…at the time, I thought I "must be crazy", as I had not remembered getting so wet in the past. My jeans were soaked for hours, which made it rather uncomfortable on a cool, chilly November evening - gah. They really DO need to post some signs as a warning, as guests are very unprepared for this soaking.

This is really bad and quite scary. They are going to get sued to the gills if someone were to get seriously hurt because of this issue.

I do not understand how this could not be noticed and addressed immediately!!!!! That is so super scary and worries me for all the children in the boat! I would completely freak out if my daughter fell out of a ride... um... just...no! They need to do something asap...! Makes me nervous about riding this now...

Forget the front row....that was only mildly wet for me the past few times. What did me in 2 days ago were the water cannons!! My hair and lap were soaked. Something was way off with the timing on there and a CM said it happened every 3 boats or so.

We've been riding Pirates for many years. We noticed our last trip (first week of this month) that the seats were wet when we got into the boat. We were some of the first people in line (our first stop after "rope drop") and they were letting something like 3 empty boats go between filled ones. They didn't even attempt to send partially filled boats.
We got wet and we weren't in front. And there was WAY more bumping and smashing into things than we're used to. Hard bumps. We know all about the drop and the possibility of splashing. We also got wet from the splash of the "cannon ball" in the ship fight scene -- never happened before.
DH and I were both surprised and we didn't ride it a second time the second day we went to MK that week.
Someone should look into this and balance things out a little better.
:(

Interesting. I had no idea there were new boats. My older DS and I rode this when we were there a couple of weeks ago and we were in the front row and got soaked! Much more than I ever remember in the past.

I do not recall getting bumped about more than usual tho.

We rode in the front row in October and we got DRENCHED as well. We were shocked. We also look like we had just ridden Splash. I thought possibly because there were very large men sitting in the row behind us that may have made the front end heavier. They sure laughed at us...I was not so amused.

The fact that the boats are taking on water when they are not supposed to is a problem enough. That is enough to say something is wrong. But hard bumps and smashing? Crazy.

I don't understand how this is being ignored either. The ride should be shut down and they need to fix or replace or do whatever they have to in order to correct this problem. What a disgrace. Are they waiting until someone gets seriously hurt?

I experienced this yesterday. I had never gotten wet before and this time the seat got soaked and wet my jean shorts enough to look like I peed my pants. I was not pleased. If they want to make it a wet ride, fine, but warn those of us who would rather not look soiled in pictures later on first!

I think the water is a big problem too. I wonder if that water is meant to be getting all over people. I know Splash Mountain is treated like a swimming pool (water quality checks, filtering, all of that). I don't think POC is.

I got soaked last week! My middle son and I were in the second to last row. I got drenched. When we got back to the hotel afterwards my husband asked if we had done Splash again. I said nope just POC and he was astonished!

We rode last week and didn't notice anything abnormal? Maybe it was just us!

I have gotten wet from the "canons" before but wow... I hope they fix this!

rode it in october, Front seat and got soaked during the drop.

Rode it 2 weeks ago front seat and didn't get a drop. I did hear the lady behind me complaining after the cannon went off, I didn't know the cannons blew anything but air? But I've never been on any other seat except the front.

There was a back up during the unloading process, Our boat hit the boat in front of us pretty hard. Then one by one the boats behind us created a pile up slamming our boat each time. I found it a bit much, As the little girl beside me kept falling forward every time it happened.

POC isn't really my thing so it doesn't matter much to me, But in October we definitely got a wave that came over the front of the boat and soaked our shoes. Really unexpected but we found it quite comical

We weren't in the front row, but I did get some splashing from the water cannons. Definately different from 1 1/2 years ago when we were there last.

I second the "ewwww!" I am concerned about the water and wet shoes are the worst! :crazy2:
