Canadian here (Calgary).

Just received a piece of first-class USPS mail from DVC that was postmarked Dec 31, letting me know that my dues are (were) due Jan 15.

From following the disboards, I knew when dues were need to be paid, but for those who may not waste as much of their life in these forums as I do, I just wanted to throw out the reminder that you have about two weeks left to pay before the DVC goon-squad shows up on your doorstep with baseball bats and crowbars.

Or hockey sticks and curling brooms...

You’re not considered late in paying those dues until February 15th. So as long as you pay them by Feb 14th you are fine.

I set up auto-pay to my credit card so I never have to worry about it.

Didn’t know that this was an option for non-US based credit cards. Please tell me more, as I’d rather not have to come up with a lump sum every January.

Unfortunately, it is a lump sum, but it does it automatically every Jan 15th so you can set it and forget it.

I’m in the UK and setup automatic payments at the beginning of January. They took payment that left my account on the 17th around when I expected

Then they have just taken the 2nd payment (1st Feb)

is that normal and subsequent months, payments are taken on the 1st of the month?

Yes. The initial payment is scheduled for January 15th (a Saturday this year, so it may have processed slightly later in the month) and remaining payments are scheduled for the 1st of each month. The December payment may be slightly smaller to account for any difference when dividing the annual total by 12.

Wait, you guys are allowed to pay monthly? As far as I know, we (Canadians) have to pay it all at once in January.

When I was setting up the auto-pay option for my us bank account, I could choose the 15th or the 1st of every month for the subsequent payments. I called member services financial department (don't remember the exact name) to ask some questions and they confirmed this option, setting up my auto-pay for the 15th of each month. Since this is my first year paying dues, I had lots of questions

You can if you setup auto payments using online banks like Wise which I used for all my DVC payments to Monera and despots because it gives you US bank numbers like a routing number

No unfortunately not. We can set up auto pay on our credit card but they’ll charge the FULL amount of dues. Monthly by credit card is not an option.

as a fellow Canadian… I signed up for the Scotia Passport Visa. The exchange rate is crazy cheap on it. We have family who work at RBC and it’s much better than their staff rate on USD.
