HEADS UP... Disney just changed the EMH schedule for July all the way thru Dec...

Yes, Disney can do what it wants. Yes, a bad day on vacation is still better than the best day at work. Yes, if you want to get a slide rule and spend hours on calculations, you may determine that with the changes you will have 17.5 extra minutes of park time available to you under the new schedules. But even with all of that, the fact remains that dining reservations, FP+ and any of the other many things planned for your trip have now been affected by Disney's changes to the EMH days during an ALREADY scheduled and planned trip.

There are two words for that - rude and inconsiderate. On Disney's part. I have been going to WDW since I was a little kid in 1972. This won't make me stop going, but I have no problem calling this for what it is.

I would agree--if Disney didn't tell you on their web site that park hours are subject to change. They have never stated they were set in stone. With the new FP+ I will say that it brings up challenges that weren't there before. But Disney has for years adjusted park hours. If started going in 1972 you should know that. It is even a good idea to check park hours while you are at WDW as they will change them the day of.

Come on, really. Resorting to the fine print!!?!! Disney is the one that created this monster of booking so far in advance. They need to do the same. Commit to hours and stay with them.

How would you feel if your airline told you weeks or months after you booked your flights that they were going to push your flights back and you would arrive 2 or 3 hours later than originally planned and have to leave 2 or 3 hours earlier than originally planned?

Would you seriously be okay with that? Would you defend the airlines actions with the same vigor and tenacity you defend Disney's?

I don't have a problem with Disney INCREASING the hours on the published schedule because of increased bookings, but I think it's dirty pool for them to REDUCE already published park hours, regardless of the reason.

Completely agree. I'm a diehard Disney dude but this was incredibly rude and inconsiderate. People already made plans. You should not change any times like that... ESPECIALLY within the 60 day window.

I apologize if this has already been mentioned. I did a search in the thread, but didn't see it.

Are there really morning and evening EMH on Dec.30th?? The calendar shows 8am - 2am

Have you not had flight times changed on you? I have many times.

You may not like it but Disney makes no secret of the fact that park hours are subject to change. You can rail about it all you want but it won't change that fact. I wouldn't like park hours being reduced during my trip either, but I don't think doing so makes Disney rude. It means they are running a business, and most business are fluid things.

Btw if you do fly you better at least once read the Contract of Carriage. All you are guaranteed by purchasing a ticket is a seat going from point A to B. Flight times are not guaranteed and subject to change.

If Disney wants its guests to "lock in" their schedules 60 days out, then it is not unreasonable for guests to expect that Disney will "lock in their schedule (outside of unforseen/unpredictable circumstances) in kind.

That's because the airlines can't control the weather or logistics of the airport. This was a business decision that Disney made and it was poorly timed. I love Disney but they can't be defended here.

Before Disney's whole focus on locking in schedules, I would have agreed with you, and would have said this is.how it has been for years, accept it and move on. But Disney changed the game with MM+ and FP+, not guests. Disney needs to adjust the rules of their game to appropriately fit with their new endgame.

Exactly, if I have to change the way I pan and that planning is based on the information they give me, I feel it is fair to expect them to adhere to what they said, since I am locked in. People make the plans for MM+ and FP+ based on the information they give us.

Of course I have. I'm sure we all have. That was not my point, and your response is simply a straw-man argument.

The point isn't whether or not they CAN, it is whether or not the premise for such action is RIGHT and how one would perceive that action.

Comparing WHY airlines adjust flight schedules to why WDW would adjust park hours is an apples to oranges comparison.

Again, customers who book and plan their day in "the world" contingent on park hours get a raw deal when WDW reduces those published hours.

Period.

On our first night 9/7 they took away the EMH. Considering NoJ is the 2 nights prior and MNSSHP is 2 days later in a 5 night period and parties start at 7. Not sure why they took this extra time away. Oh well maybe it means it'll be super slow. Fingers crossed

I just got off the phone with a Disney Customer Service Cast Member. She called me to discuss my email about my concerns over the change to the EMH hours/days.

I never expected a phone call! She told me she understood my issues with the short notice and that I am missing my favorite night (Sunday EMH at MK). She also said that she's gotten a lot of emails about it. She, personally, can't do anything to change the situation (which I understood), but she will be forwarding my email on to park operations.

I thought it was a nice touch to call me and I told her I appreciated her call.

Can you tell me who you emailed as I'd like to send an email of complaint/disappointment as well. Having been forced to make ADR plans at 180 days out I know that Disney have the right to change their hours, I just fail to see why they do it.

Actually, no I didn't. I went to the My Disney Experience and chose the contact us section. Clicked on the email link and chose Disney Resort Hotel Reservations as the subject. At the time, it was the best choice I had available, since EMH affected my resort stay. I didn't know about the above email address.

I also happened to be very lucky in that the cast member who received my email is actually a friend of mine. Seeing that it was me, he chose to send the email up the ladder instead of just giving the standard 'thank you for your concerns' canned response. He also stated that my email was much more polite than the others he was receiving about the EMH issue and he thanked me for nicely complaining.

I did say that with FP+ changing park hours has made planning a vacation challenging.

And to the poster who claimed the airline comment was a straw man argument, I was just replying to your argument that airlines never change their flight times. They do quite often! And if you knew that, why bring it up at all?

I highly doubt Disney will ever set their park hours in stone 6 months ahead of time. Guess I'm not the type to beat my head against a brick wall and wail because it hurts. I'd rather deal with what is real and move on. It get it--it is frustrating and irritating. I agree. But no one can say they were not warned.

Your not even guaranteed a plane! I've been chucked in a van more than once!

Doesn't mean I like it but there is a REASON I know longer fly USAIR and SW is now the largest domestic carrier. They also, I believe have one of the best on time records in the business.

I hope while, WDW, responds and won't do this again. I also hope they aren't stupid enough to switch it back!:headache::headache:
