Space Mountain will close on July 31st, 2024, and be replaced by a new ride in 2027. When they announced the new attraction, I had vowed to be there for Space Mountain's last day, as it was where I had my wife to marry me.... When they announced a closing date of July 31st, it was perfect, as I could book the time off. Also, being in the middle of the week, crowds would not be as heavy as they would have been on weekends.
Looking at the hotel prices, as well as the virtual line situation for Fantasy Springs, I assessed that booking an expensive vacation package would be the best solution. I am frugal (nearly cheap) when I book hotels, but when I noticed that I could prebook some Space Mountain express passes and get the special Fantasy Springs ticket the next day, I gave in and booked a one night vacation package for the Toy Story Hotel. The only challenge will be checking in in the morning and then heading out to the park. I found a nice deal for the Villa Fontaine Grand Tokyo Ariake for the pre-Disney portion of the trip, and it is conveniently only a 21-minute drive from that hotel to the Toy Story Hotel. It will be easy to catch a taxi early in the morning. The other challenge is on the second Tokyo Disney day: after the park visit ends, will need to take a train from Maihama Station to Narita airport as we have a very early morning flight to Indonesia the next day.
I've been to Tokyo Disney 8 times before, so I am a veteran and know my way around. I am curious to see Fantasy Springs and reride my favorite attraction in the world, Journey to the Center of the Earth.
Pre Disney, I will do my usual Akihabara shopping, hit two art stores and go to Nakano Broadway for used Disney merchandise and amazing ice cream. Besides Disney, my interests are wrestling (WWE has a show in town when I am there, humm), Warhammer (an amazing store in Akihabara), and painting with acrylic stuff, which is great as Tokyo has unique art stores.
