Heading back to Princess Josie's Castle-An AKV May 22-29 PTR-TR Started 6/3!

Just checking in !!! I don't have the VB addiction, which my pocket book is very grateful for !!!!:rotfl2:

Seeing about the softball season starting reminds me the girls will be doing their last year of cheerleading with their squad this year !!Then they will be in High School :scared1:so will be trying out for that!!!! The practises get CRAZY near competition time putting a real kink in our free time:scared1: Kyle so far hasn't really taken to softball leagues, he just plain would rather be jumping on the trampoline and riding his electric bike like a maniac !!:scared1:

Hi Rosie! Be glad you don't have the VB bug...:lmao:

I hope the girls do great with the try-outs, I'm sure they'll be just fine. :goodvibes These practices and upcoming games are really cramping my DIS style. All kids are different for sure. Lindsey and Josie would probably rather bet jumping on a trampoline and riding an electric bike rather than standing in the hot sun. :rotfl: Have a great weekend Rosie!!! :hippie:

I owe you guys a bunch of pictures. I will most definitely fix that this weekend. I have a big cake to make tomorrow night and we have a practice on Saturday but no plans other than that. I should have plenty of time to catch up with my DIS friends. :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!! :cool1:

I look forward to checking it all out. Will we have pics of another yummy cake aw well?:rolleyes1

YAY!! I'm so glad the school was willing to work with you on the testing issue.

What a fun weekend! We have never been to the Nashville Zoo, but I've heard good things. Great stroller choice! :thumbsup2 We have a Maclaren Twin Triumph and LOVE it.

Hi Sarah! It was a fun weekend! Do you have a good zoo near you? We really enjoy strolling through the two near us. I'm always up for Olive Garden.:thumbsup2

Yeah, we have the Milwaukee County Zoo which is pretty good. They have done a lot of updating so a lot of the exhibits are brand-new...they did the big cat house a few years ago and just did something with the giraffes where there is a platform where you can feed them. I always love going there.

Less than a month now!!!

I love all the VB talk. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a bad Vera addiction. I am already planning my next purchase since I can get a good discount on the stuff...:rolleyes1

I have some pictures coming up....no ball pictures yet, I want to get some pics in the total outfit and I haven't found some cleats for Josie yet. I'm having a hard time finding cleats in an 8.5. :confused3

Hi Julia!! We are really glad to have the testing issue resolved. :goodvibes

The Nashville Zoo is small, but nice and clean. The Louisville Zoo is much larger and has a lot more exhibits but Nashville is closer to home and perfect for a Sunday afternoon family day. If you are ever near Nashville you should check it out. I'm sure the kids would enjoy it.:)

I'm glad to hear that you have had a good experience with your Maclaren. We are new to the brand but so far we are very pleased. :goodvibes

So far I have fought off the temptation to by the laptop case...I think it's mostly because I don't think Joe would help me pack it through the airports if it's decked out in pink and green. :lmao: My birthday is coming up in June so maybe I will get one of those discount cards I keep hearing people talk about. :goodvibes

Feeding the giraffes would be awesome. If you go, be sure to post some pics! :goodvibes

Alrighty then...

So I've been telling you guys that we have been doing some shopping and getting some things together for our trip. I apologize in advance for the pic quality, all of these were taken on my phone. It's just a lot easier and faster to take and upload pics with it.

I haven't told you about this yet. Thursday I came home from work to a little Mother's Day surprise from Joe! He bought me one of the small video cameras. I had been thinking of possibly buying one of the FLIP's but Joe beat me to the punch and bought me this Sony Handycam instead....I put it next to Josie's new DS so that you can compare the size of it. It's super small and super light. It uses an SD card so I save to the camera's hard drive and the card and I can download at the resort in the evening, etc. It takes great video!! What a great hubby huh?

The other thing I told you about was our new stroller....here's a pic of our choice. I loved the Coffee Stripe print. Josie seems to really like this stroller and I think it is going to work out really well at the World...

Leona and Jay were at Lexi's practice last week when they noticed a little girl with some thick flip flops on. They asked the Mom where she got them and stopped on the way home and bought BOTH girls a pair of these super cute shoes! How sweet is that!

Next....we started working on our countdown calendar on Thursday. I surprised the girls with this...I found a 48 piece puzzle ( I couldn't find a 30pc for the life of me), secured 18 pieces of the puzzle with scrapbooking glue dots, and used ID sleeves to hide a puzzle piece for each day leading up to our trip. Joe used my Mickey Head punch I bought from Hobby Lobby to punch out the different colored Mickey heads. I glued and numbered one for each sleeve. Each day the girls are marking off one of the Mickey heads and getting the next piece of the puzzle. They are using the glue dots to secure the new piece each day. On the last day before the trip they will have the last piece and a complete puzzle. The are really enjoying it. Here's a pic...

The last update today will concern the cake I made last night. This is a cake I made for a coworkers granddaughters first birthday. This cake turned out to be a caketastrophe. I've made a jumbo cupcake for a topper and as cake by itself several times, NEVER any issues. I was expecting the two bottom tiers of this cake to be the booger but boy was I surprised.

First when I was assemblying the cupcake and started to ice it, the domed part broke in half at about 1am this morning.:scared1: (The other two tiers were already done.) So I had to bake another cake. After about an hour and half later the second jumbo cupcake was done. I got it all assembled and put it on top, iced it and all of a sudden the icing around the bottom fell off on the side of the cake in about a 5 inch section. I was like are you kidding me???? So I tried again. It is now about 4:30am. I scraped off the fallen icing and attempted it again.

About 5:00am I had fixed the section and everything looked pretty good. I watched it for about 30 minutes while I attempted to clean up some of my mess. At 5:30am all was still good so I hopped in the shower so that I could try to catch a little sleep before I had to deliver the cake at 11:30am. I took a shower came out and something told me to take a look in the box and look at it.......

Yep you guessed it...the icing slid off the cake AGAIN!!!!!! So I scraped all of the icing off and made a new batch of icing. I started from scratch. I re-iced the cake and within 10 minutes....there was my new icing on the side of the freakin' cake. :headache: So I just stopped went into the family room and just thought about it...at this point I hadn't slept in 26 hours. I thought maybe some quiet time might generate a different idea/approach. Something occurred to me. I had the window open all night because it has been beautiful and the breeze felt wonderful. Well it had rained a little off and on. My problem was the humidity. Buttercream and humidity do not do well together.

So I shut the window. Made a new batch of icing, iced the cake and FINALLY everything was fine!:woohoo: I finished with about 45 minutes to spare. Here is the cake that is a result of this long winded story. After all is said and done, I think it turned out pretty cute. The cupcake is the baby's smash cake, triple fudge cake and classic buttercream. The bottom two layers are white cake, almond buttercream icing covered in buttercream fondant. All of it is edible. :goodvibes

Well that's all for now...Hope you're all having a great weekend. :goodvibes

OK---a lot to comment on, so I'll try not to forget anything!

First off---that cake is so awesome! If it tastes half as good as it looks, then it must be amazingly yummy! :)

Second---LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the idea for the puzzle in the countdown calendar. You are too smart, Ms. Leanne! :thumbsup2

YAY for all those new purchases. It's been a long time since I used a stroller, but I have to say that the coffee print is really cute. I think that's the same type/model of stroller my sister uses with Meg. She swears by Maclaren (not sure I spelt that right).

I can't believe how small that video camera is! I saw it next to the DS, but tell me, which one weighs more? Cute flip-flops---I love chocolate brown and pink! :)

Thanks for the kind comments Michelle! :goodvibes So far 2010 has been a great year for us financially so we've splurged a little for this trip. Last year was full of bad news so it's nice to have good things to talk about.

I have been so surprised by how many people love Maclaren. We picked it based on our impression at the store only. It's great to know so many people love them. :)

The DS definitely weighs more than the video camera. I'd say the camera probably doesn't even weigh one pound. It has a built in shutter too and will fit nicely in the backpack so double score. :thumbsup2

Loved all your purchases and the CAKE is gorgeous !!! I am afraid I would have been smashing it you have PATIENCE Lady Patience !!!!!!!!
