I am on my second cold in a month. Both times it starts with a scratchy throat but then just moves to my head. Seriously I feel like my head is going to explode! I have a nose that
will not stop running (already through almost two boxes of Puffs with lotion) and it looks like I
am crying. Have had a cough since the original cold at Thanksgiving. I was put on n atibiotice back in Nov. when the doctor said it was a sinus infection. I have tried several over the counter meds, the latest being Sudafed. Can you please help me with a different med that will make my eyes and nose stop running like a faucet?
Sorry so long and detailed but I am desparate, I really need to go to work tomorrow and so far nothing has helped my symptoms.
Thanks for any advice.

I started to get sick this past week and was told about Zicam, it doesn't do anything for your symptoms at the moment, but it helps make the cold less icky and the cold last a shorter time.

I agree with the Zicam. I got sick yesterday (Sun) morning. Normal cold symptoms throat, sneezing, icky feeling. I started taking Zicam (the swab you put up your nose) and I already feel like the cold is going away (it is Monday night). That is pretty good in my book. I usually get a cold and I am down for a few days (I have a weak immune system). It does not cure you but definitely makes it more bearable.

I think Zicam only works if you start it right when you feel the first symptoms. Also if you use it don't use the swabs, my Dr said they have been linked to loosing your sense of smell!

I am right there with you, I have been sick since T-day. I got better last week but yesterday it started all over again. I can't take Sudafed or any meds with that in it. I have been doing nasal spray and cough meds, it isn't really working for me. I'm sorry!

Best head cold OTC remedy I've used is Benadryl Allergy & Cold. Seems to unstuff my head the best, but it does make me drowsy. Not good to take if you're working. Feel better.

Go out to a health food type place and buy yourself and Neti Pot with accompanying salt to make a saline solution. Use this several times a day during a cold to keep your nose flushed. It really helps. After your cold is overwith, you can use the Neti Pot daily to keep everything cleaned out. This is great for people with allergies or chronic sinus problems.

I usually swear by Dayquil/Nyquil. I'm in Canada though, can you get that in the US? It's the only thing that lets me function during the day and get sleep at night. Bugger now that I'm pregnant and can't take anything though.

I usually swear by Dayquil/Nyquil.

Both of those are sold here. I used to be the same way - that was the only medicine that would help me. Now they changed the formula so you don't need to go to the Pharmacy counter to get it and it just DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE!! :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I am suffering thru a cold that went to my head as well. I cannot hear a darn thing because my ears are so stuffed! I used Robitussin CF to clear out my chest congestion, but nothing I have tried does anything for my head. :headache: I think I've tried 5 or 6 different meds so far....

Enchincea and Zicam. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! I took Nyquil last night and that does help during the night because it stops my nose. Unfortunately what stops your nose is also what makes you tired. I am trying dayquil today while at work but I still feel like I am in a terrible fog. I just need to get better before February because as you can see in my signature we are headed to WDW.

I bought one earlier last fall and it worked like a charm. I'm probably going to start sounding like a neti pot salesperson, but I don't care. :rotfl2: They work.
