HDMI connection on Wonder TVs?

I have iPhones and iPads and load them up with more diverse programming that we can watch durning down times then CNN, ESPN or other Disney content. So yes I connect my Apple stuff to the HDMI ports on the TV's and put things back to normal when done.

It will accept the connection and allow you to change the input? Which ship?

I've done it on the Magic, Dream and Fantasy. Haven't been on the Wonder since they replaced all the TV's but unless they've programmed the TV's to disable the input button you should be able to switch them also.

It would not surprise me to find that you can't change the input. Not just so that people can't connect their personal devices up but so you don't accidentally change the input by pressing the wrong button. I can't count the number of times my cat has walked over our device and changed the input or channel and I can't figure out how to get it back to the right input/channel combination. It's far too easy to press the wrong button especially with kids and an unfamiliar remote. I can usually press the right buttons on my remote in the dark by feel but not with one that's unfamiliar (and any time I press the wrong one I just blame it on the cat). I can't imagine that they want 50 people a night calling down about their TV being "broken" so I'd guess they've probably locked out the input button.

If they locked out the input button that would be the only ship in the fleet that they've done it to. The remote doesn't have an input button IIRC, you need to use the input button on the TV.

Either way I wouldn't recommend changing the settings on the TVor messing with the concretions on it just so you can plug something else into. What if you forget to plug it back in or change the input setting then that means that someone on the next cruise might be making a call about the TV not working.

That's your opinion which is fine. As I said I always make sure things are back to normal when done.

Here's the back of my TV on the Wonder. They are samsung smart tvs. I can push the source button and have the options come up, but I don't have anything plugged in to actually try switching.

You know they have video games in kids club right?
Yes, and they're not always easy to get to in an overflowing kids' club. However, I was just responding to that poster. My son actually isn't a big video game fan- he likes movies, though. I wish the classics had Disney movies & cartoons on demand like the Dream class has. We could watch something of our choice while waiting for the other person to shower and dress, and at bedtime.

We loved watching a different Disney movie before bed on the Dream and I was disappointed to hear the Wonder doesn't have the same feature.

Follow-up: There was a spare HDMI input on the Wonder TV, so we had no problem hooking up my son's Switch. He just used the remote to change to the correct channel. That also means the TV goes back to normal once the Switch is unplugged.

Many thanks to those of you who defended the idea of a kid using video games in the cabin as some much-needed downtime. (And my son was so excited to show off the Switch to his Uncle and cousins, who were also cruising!)
