I would like opinions on the HDDR...not so much the food but the actual show itself. I post the food part in the restuarant board but thought Id post here too. Any opingions? It will be 11 ppl total from grandparents to a 4 yo. Will we enjoy it? Did you like it? I gave up WCC for it and wondering if I made a good choice lol

If you don't enjoy it, I'd be shocked and amazed. It is AWESOME! We try to go to HDDR at least once a year. It never gets un-funny. It is corny as can be, but that is its charm.

Last year we introduced my nieces and nephews to it (ages 4-9), and they still talk about it. We took my mom a couple years a go (she's in her 70s) and she loved it.

WCC is fun, but you have made the right choice. Okay...I think I need to go make an ADR for my next trip... ;)

The HDDR is our families favorite show and one of our favorite things to do at WDW overall. Our 6 year old enjoyed it so much he still talks about it often after our last trip, 6 months ago.

We've been to whispering canyon multiple times before and while we enjoy it, it can be hit or miss. The later showings of the HDDR are better than the early showing where it tends not to sell out and the atmosphere isn't quite as good, but it's easier to get reservations for the early showing.

We love the show! It is great for all ages.

We absolutely loved it. I didn't see anyone not smiling. The jokes are corny, but good, Disney-quality corny. They recognize birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations, and there's lots of other audience participation. The singing was top-notch, as were the instrumentalists. I'd do it on every trip if I could afford it.

I was hoping to hear good reviews as we are trying Hoop De Doo for the first time in a couple of weeks time :goodvibes

I thought it was corny but cute. My DH (AKA John Wayne), the strong and silent kind LOVED IT to the point I thought he had been taken over by aliens!! He laughed, clapped, twirled his napkin, you name it! (And no it wasn't the beer as he does not drink) You should go!

I've been to it 3 times in my life. Last time I was the lucky one who Claire recognized at the beginning of the show. I've always had a great time and the kids LOVE it.

Though I understand a few of the songs have changed since we last went in May, 2011.

It's a great campy show and a good time all around. You should have a blast.:goodvibes

We were there back in May and LOVED it! Our family was me, Dh, and 4 boys between the ages of 6 (just turned--celebrating birthday!) and 12. My 6 year old was chosen to go on stage for the grand finale.

We were seated in category 1--about 3 or 4 rows back, and feel like we had probably the best table in the place. I don't want to go into too many details why--would give away some spoilers--but it was an FABULOUS table!

Is cat 2 a better view than 3? Right now we have 3 booked but I can get a cat 2... should I switch

I prefer cat 3 to cat 2. If the show doesn't have enough people in attendance, they seat the cat 3 peeps in cat 2...so sometimes, you don't get a choice.

I used to adore the Hoop Dee Doo. I may have been its biggest fan ever. They've let the food slide a lot over the years. Last March, corn was back, so yay there. They also changed some of the songs...and for the worse, I'm afraid.

HDD is not as good as it used to be. It's still okay.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO LINE UP!! If you don't want the picture, you don't really have to get it. They sometimes tell people they need to do the pic and the pic people will tell you which side of the steps you need to line up in. Doesn't matter which side of the steps you're on. They're just lying so that you'll get the pic taken and maybe buy it.

Also, it doesn't matter if you are in the front of the line to enter or not. The seating is pre-assigned...not based on whether you enter first or not. Don't fight with your spouse over being in the back of the line. :)

Have fun!

Yes! Absolutely. We ended up getting there WAY too early for no real reason at all!

The show is by far a fun evening.corny as anything..but EVERYONE has a great time!

One song was changed due to a copyright law suit, but as I think back over the last 25 years of seeing the show about 7 or 8 times.....It has gotten better with age and time.:goodvibes

It’s corny but so much fun. We try to see it every few years. We just got back from a trip with our DD5, this was the 3rd time she has seen it and she loved it. She laughed and smiled the whole time.:)

I didn’t really miss the Hoop De Doo song and found that the show was still fun without the song.

WCC isn’t a show so it really can’t be compared to Hoop De Doo. We were rather disappointed with our last visit at WCC because our waitress was a dud and they sat us in a corner of a little room rather than in the main dining room.

Enjoy!

We are going for the first time Sat, with 12 year old and 5 year old girls. Hoping we don't see too much :rolleyes2 from the 12 year old, who is sometimes too cool for stuff. To her credit, she usually jumps into "Disney" mode pretty quickly and enjoys it all.

Can you walk me through the skipping line part? What time to arrive? We're leaving from the CR, so I'm guessing we need to be at the boat launch by 6 for the 7:15 show?

Sorry to hijack, OP!:flower3:

My DD22 and I caught the show on one of her last days on her CP - and we absolutely loved it! The food was great, we had a wonderful table (Cat 1, about middle of the room), and the show was a hoot. Seriously, I thought the dancing was Broadway caliber. I can hardly wait to go back again!

Ok, don't mean to hijack here, but I have a couple of questions about HDDR. I think DS9 and I will love it, but.... DH and DS16, I'm not so sure. We've been to the Comedy Barn, Baldknobbers, things like that. I don't know if you're familiar with those, but it's HeeHaw type humor and country-western music. Really funny, but corny...DH and DS16 hated them. They don't like country-western music or the HeeHaw-type humor. For anyone who has been to Comedy Barn or Baldknobbers, is this similar to those? Are they gonna hate this?
