We have a 4pm reservation for HDDR in December. What's the best way to enjoy the FW afterwords? Without renting a cart, can we do the campfire and enjoy the decorations with less walking? What kind of options do we have?

After the HDDR head to the bus depot (down the path to the right as you exit Pioneer Hall). Take the internal bus to the Meadow area. This is where the campfire is. There is also a store here if you want to browse/shop.

After the campfire you will need to get back to your car/resort. If you have driven to FW take the bus to the Outpost where the parking lot is. If you are using WDW transportation to get back to your resort take the bus to the Outpost and transfer to a Downtown Disney bus. Once there you can transfer to a bus for your resort.

If the MK is still open when you leave the campfire you could also take tbus internal bus to the Settlement stop, walk back past Pioneer hall and to the boat dock. Here you can take a boat to the MK and then transfer to a bus/monorail for your resort.

The one exception is if you are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. There is a direct bus that runs from the Settlement stop at FW to the WL. There is also a boat between the two resorts.

If you get to FW a little early, be sure to check out the horse stables (within walking distance to Pioneer Hall) to see where the horses that work at the MK live. Each horse has his cast member badge displayed on his stall!

Thanks for tips! How about after campfire? What's the option for us to browse through the campsites for christmast decorations?

We stayed at the FW last year and was quite impressed with the holiday decorations, seemed to me the best decorations were close to the Outpost so you could walk, stop by guess services next to HDDR and ask for a map.

Usually they run the Disney Electrical Parade around 8:00pm and best views are from the beach where the boat leaves for Magic Kingdom. One time we were returning from Magic Kingdom and rode right past the Electrical Magic Parade in progress on the last. My kids loved the boat launch to Magic Kingdom so make sure you try this transportation option either to FW or when you leave.

There are no campaites near the Outpost. That is the check-in area. The cabins are between the Outpost and the traditional campsite loops. You may see some decorations there, but the majority of them will be on the camping loops.

There are several loops near the campfire that you could walk to see the decorations. You can also see them from the bus. If you see a loop you'd like to explore just get off the bus. If you get disoriented just let the driver know where you are headed. (Campfire = Meadow, Boat Dock = Settlement, Bus Depot for Downtown Disney = Outpost) They are very helpful.

As for the Electric Water Pageant, it is run closer to 10:00. It makes stops at all of the MK area resorts. Check with Guest Services for the exact time it will be at FW if you are interested in watching it from the beach/boat dock area.

We were at FW for the 2 weeks after Thanksgiving last year, and the decorations in our 800 loop were amazing - we're guesstimating at least half of the sites in our loop had brought decorations. Many had multiple imflatables - 0ne site must have had at least. A number of the sites near the Settlement Outpost were also heavily decorated.

A lot of people had also decorated their golf carts, and one large group did an impromptu (and not authoriized but entertaining) golf cart parade one night.

What's the best way to enjoy the FW afterwords?
. . . walk or ride around the park
. . . no cars are allowed for visiting, so bikes or golf carts needed
. . . renting a golf cart is hard
. . . so, make a ressie for a bike or cart VERY early

Without renting a cart, can we do the campfire and enjoy the decorations with less walking?
. . . you can get on the internal bus
. . . it only takes main routes
. . . but, you get the flavor
. . . the bus does deliver you to the path for the campfire

What kind of options do we have?
. . . walk
. . . bike
. . . golf cart

Thanks to Robo's maps, you can see that it is walkable between Meadows and Settlement. You can take your time and see a lot of camping loops.
