Hi,
DD is requesting to travel to hawaii :lmao::lmao:

Next year already booked for WDW using DVC points :thumbsup2, but i let slip that disney have a hotel at hawaii .

Just been browsing the dvc site looking at the new resort, and now im dreaming of being there right now :lmao:

Anyhow can anyone help with advice on flights to hawaii and which way would be the cheapest route etc. :thumbsup2

My daughter loves Lilo & Stitch and dreams of going to Hawaii - we also let slip that Disney were opening a resort there and she too wants to go there.

I think what you can do is twin centre the holiday with the West Coast - a week there then fly over to Hawaii.

It is a very long journey on its own some 18 hours minimum with just the one stop breaking it up with a stay somewhere else may help. Had a look on Kayak and flights seem to be around £700 minimum from London to Honolulu - I am just not sure I could manage the journey. The 9 hour travel time to Florida is hard enough - I am not sure I could cope with nearly a day of travelling.

We have been to Hawaii. The last couple of times we flew with United via San Francisco. As it's 10-11 hours to SFO then another 5 or so onwards we have stayed overnight each way - I think if it's less than 24 hours it doesn't count as a seperate flight. The last trip (2008) we used miles so can't comment on cost, but given what's been happening to flight prices I don't think it will be cheap...

We've been dreaming about going back - it's addictive... last trip we went to Kauai where Lilo & Stitch was based and where they filmed Jurassic Park, and then the Big Island which has the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (though I think after April I have had enough of volcanoes :lmao:)

I think you're right in combining it with a stop on the West Coast.

Jack is keen to go to Hawaii, and when we do go I think I'll stop in LA/San Diego there and back for a few days either side. Probably something like 3 days Anaheim - 7 days hawaii - 4 days Santa Monica or something similar.

Give us a break between flights, as even LA-Honolulu is a long flight.

We are in the planning stages for a two week trip, one at Aulani and the other doing the NCL cruise around the islands.
The idea is to go during one of our longer stays in Florida using our Delta Skymiles because the taxes on domestic flights are only $10 making them great value compared to using miles for transatlantic flights.

we flew with united, from heathrow via LA.i found united,to be the cheapest for flights, especially compared to virgin.

My daughter who is about the same age as yours wants to go too. We are thinking of going 2012 and doing Disneyland CA too . I am planning on going San Francisco next year so will see how she gets on with the flight.

My DD just read your post and asked "can we go with them" :thumbsup2

Yeah just thought maybe do DL 3 nights then Hawaii 7 nights then 4 nights wdw, so I best start playing the lottery :rotfl2:

We went to Anaheim this summer- also went over to Santa Monica for a day - OK for a part day but not sure about spending 4 days there. I would split 7 days Anaheim and 7 days Hawaii personally.

We cruised there from Vancouver and then flew back via LA with a weeks stopover on the Californian coast before journeying on home. I don't like flying so think that if I was to do it again, I would definitely have to have 3 weeks - 1 week in San Francisco area and fly onto Hawaii and then a week in LA/Las Vegas on the way back - I find the 11 hours to California enough, let alone the further 5 + hours to Hawaii - JMHO though!!:thumbsup2

Yeah, you definitely want to split your flight to Hawaii up with a stop on the West Coast, even if it is just for a day or two. If you don't, you could end up needing another holiday to recover from your holiday!

I did a cycling tour of the Big Island (when I was a lot younger, fitter and richer!) with two nights in San Francisco on the way out and three nights in Honolulu on the way back. However I flew back to LHR from there with only stops to change planes and that was a bad idea. Because I find it nearly impossible to sleep on flights, I worked out that I ended up spending 40 consecutive hours awake - the two days after getting home were basically spent in bed recovering!

We want to do the new dvcIn Hawaii as well was thinking of 2012/ 2013, i was hoping disney might end up with some cruises that way with the new hotel and all....

Wed def do 3 weeks and do LA on the way out and possibly somewhere else on way back.

California/ Hawaii is definitely next on our agenda, I figure 2014 to save up though. I think I saw the rates for Aluani start at $360 per night so it's gonna take a while. it was seeing World of Color show on you tube that made my mind up. I'm desperate to get over to the west coast area now!

Oooh, I love Santa Monica!

I studied for a few months right near there though, so it's not a tourist place for me, just somewhere I love to spend my time.

I do love Vegas too though, so now my dream, not going to happen for years and years, Hawaii plan will be Vegas - Hawaii - Santa Monica/Anaheim.

Mum and I are also talking about going to Hawaii. Was looking at the DVC stuff a few days ago and saw what the ocean view would look like and I am sold (even though the points are fairly steep for the view).

Like many we would be thinking of at least 3 weeks and would include Disneyland/other california and possibly 3 days in Vegas. When we mentioned to the rest of the family our plan, they spent ages telling us how they would love to do a trip like that, so possibly jumped from party of two to party of 9.

Don't know whether 7 days in Hawaii is enough and I think 2 weeks may be too much (as we like to be busy) so thought of 10 days in Hawaii.
