Hi! I need some help please. I am looking to book a hotel in Oahu (this afternoon) for next week. I have never been there so I need some suggestions.

I would like something that is on the beach and is more like a Beach Club/Polly/Grand Floridian (I know those are all really different, but something nice with a family type atmosphere is what I am getting at).

Pools and waterslides are important. We will have mostly adults in our group with one 4 year old and one 3 year old.

Can anyone help? Location is not important (just have to stay on Oahu).

Thanks!

OHHH I so wanted to help, but can't we stayed at the Embassy Suites on Kauai. I am bumping, maybe someone else will see this! Good Luck!

We just go back from Hawaii, Ohau in August. The hotels that we saw on Wakiki are not what I expected. (We stayed in a house at the North Shore). A really nice hotel and area that we did see is Paradise Cove.... looked like you think Hawaii would look, very green with beautiful landscaping. Only downfall here is that it is about 25 minutes from Wakiki and about 30 minutes from Hanama Bay, keep in mind though that places in Hawaii are not that close together, Wakiki is about 35 minutes from Hanama Bay and an hour from the North Shore!!!! The Paradise Cove resort is right on a private area of beach and they have a great luau... this is where I want to stay next time we go. All in all I was not so big on Wakiki, it did not look like I imagined Hawaii to look, but one nice hotel that is on Wakiki is the Hylton Hawaiian Village. Hope this might help.

Not cheap but worth every penny and you can’t go wrong with any of these.

Hilton Hawaiian Village
Halekulani
Sheraton Moana Surfrider
Outrigger Waikiki
Royal Hawaiian

Outrigger Reef is a nice location, good food and a little more of a value stay but my pick for a less expensive solution.

Years ago, we stayed at the Royal Hawaiian. It's an old hotel. I think I remember it's nickname being "the pink palace of the pacific." Just beautiful.
If you are an Elvis movie buff, the pink hotel near the beginning of "Blue Hawaii" is the RH.

Turtle Bay on the North Shore. about 40 minutes from the airport & Waikakii Did have a waterslide and a small beach/swimming area. Every room has a view of the ocean.

We spent easter & spring break at the Royal Hawaiian. It was just beautiful and we had a suite in the Royal tower, top floor - GREAT view of the beach & ocean. Great hotel restaurants, too. We loved the Surf Room practically right on the beach for bfasts and dinners. We did the luau and we enjoyed it.

I would either return to the pink palace or give the Hilton Hawaiian Village a try. We walked over to take a sub ride and it looked like a very nice family place.

The Royal Hawaiian is more in the middle of the restaurants and shopping areas and is on the best part of Waikiki Beach. The service was outstanding.

Happy planning!

Thank you so much for all of your help! I have been calling around to all of the above places and will let you know where we end up.

Thanks again!! :sunny: :sunny:

It's been 17 years since we were last in Hawaii but we enjoyed stays at The Hilton Hawaiian Village and Turtle Bay Hilton, too. The grounds at the HHV are gorgeous.

We also stayed at the Kahala Hilton, now the Kahala Mandarin Oriental, and they have their own resident dolphins. We would always end our Hawaii vacations with a few nights here.

.

Turtle Bay is no longer run by Hilton. It is now independent and part of the perferred hotel group.

Still enjoyed our vacation there.

I'd back either the Hilton Hawaiian Village or Outrigger Waikiki if you wan to stay on Oahu. Very nice resorts. As far as water slides and such go, I'm not sure which resorts offer them, but I'm going to lean on the side of the Hilton Hawaiian Village having them.

As far as the Outrigger Reef goes though however, I think this is the best mix. Slightly less cost than at Outrigger's main location in Waikiki, the Outrigger Reef resort is still great where it comes to room features, shopping and eateries.

hyatt regency is right across the street from waikiki beach/ police station and is located right in the center of all the shopping and walking. It is very centrally located. The rooms were really nice too
