with only 4 other girls - what can we do to make it more fun than just hanging out swimming - I know 2 of the girls don't swim - but will goof off - not sure about the others....

My DD11 had a pool b-day party last summer.

We tie-dyed t-shirts & it ended up being even more of a hit than I thought it would. They loved it!!!

We had a pool party when she was turning 9 or 10 also.
The girls played lots of pool games, relay races, etc. They had a blast!!

Family fun has a great "pool party cake" just click here

We did this for my DD's 6th birthday. This ice-cream cake was super easy to make. We did not use whipping cream, we used cool whip instead. EASY, EASy, EASY!!!!

I'm not sure the age of the girls but when I was younger and attened pool parties we had a water ballon toss or egg toss. The parents also took loose change (pennies , quaters etc) and threw them at the bottom of the pool and we had to go find them. we also had relay races but on floats instead of actually swimming...that was a lot of fun.

We need ages. Fabric Paint on shirts or hats is always fun no matter what age.

they are all almost 8.....

1 won't go under water
1 might with coaxing

& don't know about the other 2....

would like something to do in the pool - some game - the pool is 3-5'deep...

I don't think you really have to plan much. Kids can spend all day in the pool without getting board. Are you doing this at your home or a hotel?

neither - there's an indoor pool here...you pay $3 a person to swim - unless you do the membership thing or do a full fledged big party (50 kids) then you pay $100....

Pretty cool huh? There's actually an outdoor pool too....

I just want something to do with them other than throw them in the pool - KWIM?

That is really neat. Since it is a public pool you probably can't have a game of volleyball or anything We always loved to play Marco Polo. If they have a diving board or if they can jump off the side maybe a splash contest. the one who doesn't like to go under water can be the judge. They can have races. It is hard to find things to do in a public pool without inconviencing others, but as I stated before I am sure they will have a blast weather you plan something to do or not. Have fun!

Well....first off.....if half of them don't swim, why even bother w/a pool party???? This is a dangerous proposition if the kids are not confident swimmers.

That said, I would suggest something ELSE to do than a pool party...ie, how about a sleepover where they could all do thier hair and watch a movie? or how about some happy meals and playtime? or maybe going bowling as a group?

if you are set on the pool idea, prepare to spend most of your time supervising those hesitant ones. I would agree w/the shirt painting idea, but at a "public" pool that might be hard to pull off.

We tie-dyed t-shirts at DD11's pool party last year..at a public pool. We just made sure we did not get in anybody's way & that we cleaned up. As I stated before...the girls loved it!!

DS8 had a pool party 2 weeks ago...public pool...we had 25 kids.
We ordered pizza, then had cake.
Then the kids swam.
The kids brought their goggles & just swam & had a great time.

I too, am wondering ...why have a pool party if half of the girls are not confident swimmers?

just because they don't swim doesn't mean they don't like the water....

this is a pool that they can touch in being only 3 feet...

the invites have gone out already so I can't change it - had I known @ the time it was only gona be a handful I would have done a spend the night kinda thing - but it was gonna be a mess of kids - I talked dd out of it...

Bowling is out around here ---they SMOKE THERE! YUCK! too bad 'cause it's so fun! (where we moved from there was no smoking!)

IF there are other people when we are there it won't be a problem - since we've never seen more than 4or 5 others at the same time other than the swim team or lap swimmers on the other side of the pool ---most people don't think of swiiming yet since it's still winter....

That's nice then I would bring a beachball and they will have fun for hours!
