Ooo, Kelly, that is so great and exciting to win that! And best of luck with your getting healthy endeavor.
I am encouraged by the WW talk on here. After my DH passed away, I put on 50 lbs. I have lost 25 a little bit at a time, but I really want to get the rest off by the end of the summer. I have done WW online in the past, but can't seem to get up my motivation either ...

And who is chatting on the other thread, btw? The same complainer???
ETA, I just figured out what you meant. Apparently that one just returned from GF???

Congrats on losing your 25! I lost 20 lbs. 2 years ago with WW! It can be a little slow but it definitely has been the best for keeping most of it off! I gained back 8 or so but have lost 5 again. The darn Holidays always trip me up!;)

Kelly - WHAT A WONDERFUL DREAM!! I had a feeling that might have been what you got. What an awesome experience, although I'm sure it was somewhat bittersweet since your DH and boys weren't there to share it with you. Good luck with your weight loss endeavors! You go girl! :woohoo:

Congrats to everyone else losing, or thinking of losing, weight! I need to get back on track - I typically put some on, and then take it off through the year via stress. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to stay out of the Xmas, then V-Day, and now Easter candy! I will be glad when Easter is over, and there is NO EXCUSE for candy until October!

I caught a Bare M infomercial tonight. I now feel like this stuff is stalking me. ;)

I will have to go check out the GF FAQ and see what is stirring over there...:rolleyes1

Good night, all. Happy Monday!

KELLY!!!! OMG! THAT IS WONDERFUL!!!!! :goodvibes

You're right, though...the only thing that would have made it better would have been if your kids and dh were there to share it w/you.....

Praline,,,,uh duh..ok that's it - a network the only reason I can be such a nitwit about it is that DH is a computer guru for a Fortune 100 company, haha....so I leave it all to him and don't look back! We have wireless on 5 and the printers.....whatever. Thanks for the stones stuff!! I will totally look forward to it. Mail it whenever,,,,I am just grateful. THANKS! DS said he used to play it....DH also and Age of Empires. DS laughed and said he can't see a mom playing it. Whatever.

Hey, WW people!!! I lost 50 on it for my 40th bday. It took about 9 months...I wasn't in a super hurry and it was more a lifestyle thing for me so it was not really a DIET, but a great change that I could live with. I did the points. My neighbor also lost 50 and she actually just copied me the info so I didn't go to the meetings. We walk and talk together just walk our dogs and do brisk 1/2 hr walks once or twice/daily- we live in a very hilly area so it is challenging, haha.....gets the heart going. It seemed so easy, but now with this G*D AWFUL winter we've had and I am a stress eater I put some back on......I also need the motivation. I will find it soon I hope. I need to think about how great I felt and how happy inside when I was on the losing path. The points is definitely a plan I can live with....maybe I should join and do the meetings just for the motivation. Not sure - I hate that kind of stuff!

Kelly, that is just so great. I am glad you won that and it seems you had the time of your life! I am so looking forward to our trip!!!! You and the castle colors changing.....oh!!! I can't wait - you are totally teasing us.

I am waiting for more!! Glad you had a nice GF CM visit, too!!!

Sounds like your DH and DS and I would get along really well :rotfl:
I love Age of empires too ... but civi is easier to play multi player as age of empires is a real time game and civi is turn based... the kids understand civi better. Tell you DS that not only do I play I kick behind while I am playing:rotfl:
Last night my DH got in on the fun and we started a huge marathon game with all 4 of us playing... Savannah is too young but she and MOMMY our on the same team :cool1:

If your DS thinks civi is not a game for MOM's.... tell your dear sweet little boy that Last month I finished Oblivion... without the cheat guide... and I headed every single one of the guilds when I was done :rotfl:
If he is a PC gamer he will know what that means :rotfl:

You guys are super bad for me.... I am on the BM website deciding on some new brushes and face colors :rotfl:

For you BM gurus... this is what I ordered...some I have and just need a refill
I am going to attempt the all over face colors again with new brushes to see if i can get the look I want :confused3

1 Prime Time

1 bareEyes Eye Makeup Remover

1 Bare Radiance

1 Tinted Mineral Veil

1 Bronze - Wearable Lip Kit

1 Poof for Lips

1 First Base Lip Balm

1 Precision Concealer Brush

1 A Little Sun Face Color with Brush Kit

1 Soft Focus Face Brush

1 Blending Brush

1 RareMinerals™ Blemish Therapy

1 RareMinerals™ Skin Revival Treatment

I love the rare minerals skin revival treatment... I use it all the time so going to try the blemish therapy just to see if I like it as well.
Channing~ if you really have large pores the rareminerals skin revival treatment makes your pores smaller... it really does :yay:

I have never used the soft focus brush but it seems like you gals have had good luck with it ... i am hoping to use it with the new face colors (and warmth) to see if I can get a lighter dose of the stuff... i would love to add color to my face but with the brushes I have it lays it on too heavy... i am so light skinned that I use the tinted mineral veil for my warmth

Age of Empires is awesome. :cool1: My husband and I play with each other against computer players. We also have a network setup with our computers.

I do like Age of Empires better than civi but civi is easier for my kids to follow... you add in "real time" and they get flustered :rotfl:

My 13 year old can play Age but the 10 year old gets lost....

With civi we each can take our turn and while one is taking a turn .. the others can be doing other things around the house.... since it takes a good 10 minutes to take a good turn in civi... it usually means I only have a turn every 40 minutes ...leaving me time to do other things around here ;)

I prefer the role playing/adventure style games over the "God" games. I have to be careful as I can get REALLY swept up and addicted to them ... I only allow myself 1 or 2 role playing games a year... that way I don't live on here :rotfl: I have a Nvidi 8800 geforce graphics card sooooooo I get KILLER graphics :rotfl: I have a huge computer system that I bought this year... I told DH is was for my video editing and pic editing software BUT shhh the real reason is I wanted to game like a MAN :rotfl:
I have a Dell XPS with 4.0 processor speed (Duel core)
4 gig of RAM
24 inch digital flat panel screen
and my Nvidi 8800 graphics card:cool1:

Yup every teenage boy in my neighborhood is in :worship: :worship: of me

I like computer gaming a lot ;)

My favs are Oblivion, The Witcher, Fable.... those type games

Savannah and I like playing the roller coaster tycoon and zoo tycoon together.

Ok, did someone mention LapBand?

Hi my name is Sheli (shelly) and I have a lap-band. I love it!!!! 86 lbs gone, 15 to go and i will be at 101 lbs gone! In under a year! This is far and away the best thing I have ever done for myself. Well, the band and bare minerals...turns out losing weight made me want to put on a little make-up (it hides the wrinkles ! :D )

My August disney trip is in celebration of weight lost and continued success...hubby even went on a diet because he was jealous of my loss... woo hoo...slimmer hubby is a good thing too! (not that either of us is thin...or ever will be ;) )

:) Sheli

Hey Shelli! I am a gastric bypass gal myself! Great on the weight loss!!!!
All together I have lost 180 pounds :dance3: :dance3:
Life is soooo different for me now!!!! I love my surgery and nobody could tell me otherwise :dance3:
You do get a bit more picky about clothes and make up after losing weight :lmao:

Praline....You go, girl! DS is a MEGA gamer - all types and systems except Wii (which he scoffs at). Wherever he goes/whatever he is doing he is thinking gaming unfortunately, haha....although he always wins any contests out there and puts everybody else to shame.:rotfl: Makes me such a proud mom.:rolleyes1  I am totally not into video games. :sad2: I do like his Guitar Hero and Rock Band, though.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: That's about the extent of my "gaming" - and only once in a blue moon.....I do the DDR w/Lucy and Jojo...does that count?:rotfl: :rotfl:

I don't have large pores at all....I guess that is what shocked me about the Bare M stuff!!! It seemed to creep into any crevices in my face and exaggerate them:eek: ......I don't have a lot of facial lines, either, but boy did I notice them when I used the Bare M for the first few times:eek: .....needless to say, I washed my face QUICKLY!!! :rotfl: I had to try it twice yesterday, too.....it's all the layering. I guess I have to really REALLY lighten my touch with each layer & take my time.....I am not a patient person so I rush thru.

Yes - I love my feather fan brush. I used it to apply my blush even. The angled blush brush put it on too solidly and just not natural enough....I probably used too much powder, too. The fan works really well with my heavy handedness.;)

:goodvibes

I started out gaming because of my Ds.. he also is a huge gamer... he can be playing a game on his ps3, playing a game on his computer and cruising the internet all at the same time :lmao:
He wants to be a game graphics engineer when he grows up... I laughed and told him he would be a starving man if he did that ... UNTIL I read how much those young guys make!!!! Those game designers make anywhere from 200 to 500K a year :rolleyes1 Imagine being 21 years old and making that kind of money playing around with graphics on a computer :yay: :yay:

Anyway... I started gaming so I would actually have SOMETHING in common with my teenage son... Channing you know how it is with the butt headed teenage boy syndrome :rotfl: what I found is I really enjoy it too :rotfl:
it gives me and Ds something to communicate about other than school...

OHHHH and channing DO NOT TAKE JO JO to Walmart anytime soon!!!!
Maybe they should change the name to HM-MART
This week every single isle has something for sale with HM on it!!!!
I mean they always had Hm but this week they must have made a new sales contract or something... they even had gardening gloves with HM on them:rotfl:
shoes, purses, hair brushes, earings, watches, necklaces, make up, towels, bedding, clothes, bras, cereal, chips, drinks, cookies, action figure sets, wigs, guitars.... I MEAN EVERYWHERE I walked there was something HM!!!!!!1
You have been warned :rotfl2:

kelly i just read about your dream prize, that is AWESOME! when we were there in dec. we kept looking for them and I never even saw anyone!

Praline!! Oh man...thanks for the heads up on Walmart:goodvibes ...YOu know what's funny...on that "Pop = Walmart" thread somebody brought up that Disney thinks well enough of Walmart to give them a HM licensing contract for tons of items.:rotfl: :rotfl: Yesterday at Kohls I bought Jo a little "makeup" bag w/a guitar lip gloss etc and a HM guitar pick bracelet yesterday....I was going to save it for Easter, but Lucy got a few other things so I gave it up. She loved it all. She has the cutest guitar purse she bought at WDW over Tgiving to put all her HM stuff in. I think I need to go check Walmart out for more HM goodies to save for Easter. That is so dorky....gardening gloves?:rotfl: :rotfl:

You're right....those butt head boys need something in common with us. We have the music thing going for us. I can't see myself gaming any time soon.:rotfl: :rotfl:

I have to run out and buy some more stuff for our trip. I think this is one of my favorite parts of going anywhere....the pretrip shopping.:goodvibes :goodvibes

Kelly, that is so neat!!! pixiedust: I am happy that you got that prize! Couldn't have happened to a nicer gal!

:) Have a good trip home.

Good morning!! (Yikes- it almost afternoon  )

Kelly- that is so cool about your prize!!!

Brooke- I still don't use warmth with the soft focus brush- still looks too heavy to me  I only use that brush for Bare Radiance etc. I use my handy buki for warmth when I use it for blush, but I barely tap any in the lid and then I shake around a little before I swirl the brush. It barely touches my face when I apply it.

Channing- keep practicing!! Feather light strokes, not so hard etc. You are coming along well though!!

Congrats to everyone on their weight loss!! (and to those about to embark on it!) I have never been more than 10-15 pounds overweight, but both my parents are (they both should lose about 50-75). I have to watch what I eat like a hawk and I generally limited carbs in swimsuit season. I have vowed not to even LOOK at Easter candy until it appears in DS's basket since I am only 3 pounds away from my "summer" weight... I find that if I eat small portions every 2-3 hours I can keep away from sweets etc. (I am the queen of the 3:00pm bowl of Special K or a salad that I would normally eat for dinner...) I also try to stay FAR away from fast food...

Welcome to all the newbies!! :goodvibes

Kristin

Kelly what a great prize to win! Wish you could have shared it with your family. Sounds like you had a great time.

Channing I've been reading about your Bare Minerals stories. Have you tried applying a primer first? That tends to help with the creases and pores. Laura Gellers Spackle or Smashbox's Primer are good ones to try.

Just got caught up on this thread. Have been on the FAQ one and I think you ladies do a great job over there. You've all been very helpful. Any questions I've had have been answered on the first few pages. Keep up the good work!

Well Kristin...I am a lot like you. Never been overweight until I hit 35 and bam....5 pounds!! :confused3 I have gone to my OB and asked what is up with this weight and they gave me that little talk about how you are getting older and you are not able to eat what you used to. I am going to cut back on the carbs and see what happens.

For all the ladies that have had the gastro surgery....it is so nice to hear about people who have a positive experience with this surgery. My father had this three years ago and passed away this past August at the age of 53.
He seemed so depressed after the surgery and I think a lot of it was he missed being bigger and being able to eat what he wanted. Eating was his way of dealing with problems. He got very thin and then started getting heavier again. I thinking he was eating more than he was saying and I know he began to smoke and drink alcoholic beverages again. (which I am sure is not a good idea after this type of surgery). He had a massive heart attack. The surgery was the best thing to ever happen to him but he just seemed he was unable to deal with it mentally.

I think it is great that you all have done so well and I hope you continue to do so!!! I saw my father and a lot of my family members deal with weight issues and I know it is not easy. I applaud you all!

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I can relate to your experience with his inability to deal with the surgery mentally. My sister in law had gastric bypass and went from over 500 lbs. to 130. She has now become bulimic and still binges on "junk" food. She also suffers from severe depression and will not leave the house. She wanted to lose the weight in part so that she would gain the freedom to go out and now that she has lost the weight she is still debilitated in many ways, not physically, but emotionally. She never dealt with the reasons why she gained the weight and those issues are still there.

So I agree, congrats to everyone who has lost and continues to lose! :goodvibes

For me it happened closer to 30... I am VERY impatient, so I can't stand to only lose .5 lbs per week that simple calorie restriction/increased exercise always does for me. I need instant gratification!! Atkins was a great diet for me. I did it in 2003, starting 6 weeks after having DS, and lost 65 pounds in 4 months- 60 pounds of pregnancy weight plus 5 for good measure!

The diet isn't for everyone. You need to be very disciplined to stay off carbs (only 20 grams per day) since one mess up takes your body close to 5 days to get back into "fat burning" mode. I have had friends try it but none of them have been able to keep to it for more than a couple of weeks (and since any weight loss you see in that short of time is mostly water, so you put it back on almost immediately).

Last spring I was at my heaviest since giving birth so I figured it was time to give it another try. I followed it most of last summer and dropped 15 pounds from mid April to Mid July and almost 4 inches off my waist line. I hadn't been this thin since my honeymoon! :cool1: and we celebrated our 10th anniversary last summer. I was able to maintain it fairly well until we went on vacation. That was 3 pounds in 10 days!! :rotfl: Since bathing suit season was over when we returned, I was A LOT less disciplined :rolleyes1 Add a couple more pounds for Halloween candy, Thanksgiving and Christmas goodies and by New Years I was up 7 from pre vacation. Now I only eat about 1200-1400 calories in any given day and that helps me maintain my weight while still eating carbs (although I still eat mostly whole grains, limited my sugar etc.) I am about 3 pounds away from where I was last summer, but I will probably still ditch the carbs next month for a bit to eliminate that last pesky 3/4 inch from my waistline that is preventing me from thinking bikini any time soon! :rotfl2:

If anyone wants any advice on how to "do it" please feel free to PM me! :goodvibes
