Mare - that is great. I am addicted to my ipod. I listen to so many Disney podcasts I lose track!!! It helps me thru the day when I am either doing my housework or walking etc. I don't hve the tv on much anymore during the day - I have my headphones on. :rotfl: :rotfl: I bought the cutest coolest thing for my ipod, too....an ijuke. It is about 24 inches tall jukebox with cool bubbles and lights. I love that , too. I wonder how did I make it for so long without my ipod!?!?! DH and DS have had them for yEAErs. I am so nontechie so I thought it was just above me. How wrong I was! Enjoy yours!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes Also, we went to Disneyland last March for the first time and LOVED it. Hoping to go back this January. It is wonderful. Maybe you could fly JetBlue with the roomier seating and the personal tvs?? It takes us about 4 hrs to fly to CA, so JB was nice and comfortable.

Linda
- thanks for the kind words. I have found out that you really have to be an advocate for your kids or their problems will just get swept under the rug and they'll be pushed through school.

The teacher called me & we had a nice talk. :thumbsup2 She is also surprised about the missing work and agrees it is so not like Lucy to have these assignments not turned in. At least that much. She is going to try and be more direct in how she gives the instructions re turning in work. She is a nice lady. :confused3 She doesn't know what went wrong, either, so she is going to make a point to be watchful of Lucy. It was a nice discussion.

I just turned in my Limited Too bucks....I had $350 of them. OMG.....I had this mega pile of clothes up on the counter and the girl said, I won't even tell you the total.:rotfl: :rotfl: She went thru and used all my cards and I gagged. Oh well. The clothes are CUTE and I even got MORE Limited TOO BONUS BUCKS!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: Half off next week, too. DH is going to kill me.:rotfl: :rotfl:

I have been so awesome....I had 2 points since I went wacko on the chocolate this morning. I knew I could be good.....I just wigged out! It happens.

Kristen!!!!
I was at my Target over here.....I saw the Bare M stuff there. THey have the basic kit w/DVD, the beyond basic kit, an eye kit, and then a couple newer things I have not seen anywhere before. The kits were all minimum of $50. They didn't sell anything loose. I didn't buy anything....I have so much - too much, and figured with going Friday - We're still going, right?!?!? I'd wind up buying more.;)

Are you all ready for the Bachelor??? He doesn't do anything for me. He's tall though. :rotfl: Other than that kinda blah.

How about that Rock of Love???? Amber definitely looks her full 37 yrs. Daisy looks dirty and trampy. Hmm.....wonder who he'll choose?:rotfl:

Kelly
- YAY!

Talk to ya later!
Channing :) Hey! Where'd my ticker go?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldnt count on them sticking around. I clicked on the link and the first thing that came up was the page but an ad for Small World Travel and they are a competitor of dreams unlimited who owns this boards. There used to be cool tickers from this other message and those were banned for a similiar reason.

Well then, I won't even bother to try and set up one, cute as they are!

I listen to so many Disney podcasts I lose track!!! !

Wait a minute! There are OTHER Disney Podcasts out there! Do tell!:woohoo: I am so NOT a techie! This Ipod thing is completely new to me!

I bought the cutest coolest thing for my ipod, too....an ijuke. It is about 24 inches tall jukebox with cool bubbles and lights. I love that , too. !

That sounds cute! :cutie: DH has an I Tower from Sharper Image. He just told me my Nano could work in it. I usually listen to my Ipod when I'm walking DS1 in the stroller while he's napping (only when he's napping, otherwise I feel like a bad mommy :scared1: ).

Maybe you could fly JetBlue with the roomier seating and the personal tvs?? It takes us about 4 hrs to fly to CA, so JB was nice and comfortable.
!

Oh DH will ONLY fly Jet Blue. Thank goodness for those TVs!!:lmao: After DH's first Jet Blue flight he declared he'd fly where ever they went. He just says this until he hears how long a flight is!:lmao: CA is about 6 hour flight from NYC. Did you fly into Long Beach? That's Jet Blue's West Coast Hub. I'm trying to figure out which airport to fly into??:confused3

Glad you had a nice conversation with the teacher. Sometimes things are taken out of content in an email. It's better to discuss teacher issues in person/over the phone. I've learned this already and my son is only in Pre K 3!~

Mare, just do a search for Disney in the Itunes store. I have several Disney podcasts that I really like but I bet I can't list them here.:rolleyes1 This site is so censored. You will get addicted to them FAST. I almost have a hard time keeping up with all the new podcast episodes.:rotfl: There are so many. :goodvibes If you need suggestions I can PM you some, but once you search Disney on the Podcast search on Itunes, you'll be HAPPY. :goodvibes :goodvibes

We did fly into Long Beach. It wasn't far from DL at all....maybe 30 minutes or less and the airport is SO SMALL and SUPER manageable. You won't believe it. I have never seen such a bumpus dinky airport. It is small and easy & then you just cross the street to rent a car. It's unreal.

We loved DL. We did a San Diego/DL split. Five nights each place. We went to San Diego first and once we got to DL we were like WHY DID WE WASTE A MOMENT IN SAN DIEGO?!?!?!?! We would have loved to have spent the full 10 nights in DIsneyland!

PS...way to go joining WW!!! That is so great. I need to up my motivation......I need help. I was good until dinner but then I was so hungry I know I blew it. Not a good feeling.

Off to watch the Bachelor.....:)

Channing: I just discovered the ITunes store! I told you, I'm clueless! :upsidedow I'll do a search, thanks for the tip. I had no idea there were other podcast out there. I might get addicted! :scared:

That's my biggest decision, how many days to stay at DL and if we should explore CA. We've never been there. I took DH to Vegas for his 30th Bday and he HATED the 5 hour flight!! He's going to be a real PITA for 6 hours! The Jet Blue flight attendents are amazing! I tell them immediately that I have a DH who's afraid to fly and two small children. They always seat us in the first row and take care of us :cloud9: DS4 helps collect the trash with them, they take him to the bathroom to play with the foam soap, they calm DH down when he gets antsy. I also like that there's room in the front row so DS4 can play on the floor with his matchbox cars. They're really very accommodating. I just hope this trip they don't break my new stroller!:scared1:

I was thinking of spending 7 days in just DL. Some people say you can cover the entire place in 3 days. I don't want to rush, who know's when I'll convince DH to take us back!:lmao: I was thinking of just planting ourselves there for the whole time. Although the Lego theme park looks cool, but I don't want to rent a car then worry about car seats. I think we might just stay in DL, just easier with the kids.

Did the DLR feel old to you? DH wants to stay at GCR because it's new and located in the theme park. I'm more about the original Walt Disney charm. I keep telling DH " I want to walk the grounds that Walt walked" he thinks I'm nuts!:rotfl2:

WW has free registration if you enroll for the monthly pass for $39.99 a month. You get free online etools. All the ww books, restaurant info and tons of recipes and motiviational articles. I find the website a little hard to navigate, there's just so much info. But the monthly pass motiviated me to stick with it. It's crazy, but when I'm paying for it I make myself stick to the program. Like I'm paying per pound or something:rotfl: "Please take my money, it's the only way I can stay on a diet!!:rotfl: "

Enjoy the Bachelor.
Mare

Being on the west coast, we go to DLR all the time. :goodvibes We have stayed for just 3 days and other times we have stayed for 7 days. I can't compare it with WDW, since I have not been there yet. But, just from what people have told me here on the DIS, I think it is a lot less involved as a vacation, but not as "resorty". There are not as many perks.

We have stayed at the DLHotel and the GCH. They are both nice, just in different ways. The DLH is older but the rooms are larger. We always get two queens and a twin sofa, that you can sleep on. There is a ton of photos of Walt and Movie Stars and Celebrities in the lobby of the DLH. The pool is pretty awesome too. Club level is really neat and they have the usual food out all day. The view from the lounge is great and you can see the fireworks from there at night. :) We get a DTD room in the Dreams Tower and can also see DCA and DLR from our window.

At the GCH we get the bunk beds with the queen bed. It is tighter in there, but it is newer. Some of the bunk beds have a trundle, so you can pull it out and sleep three plus two on the queen bed. I think they told Lives4Disney that they wouldn't guarentee that you could get one of those rooms, so someone could sleep on a sleeping bag. :sad2: Crazy, in mho, considering the price you pay. Since there are only 4 of us, we have no prob with the GCH. It is closer, but really, everything is super close at DL. DTD is right outside the hotels and a 10 minute walk and you are at the gate.

If you have any other questions, go ahead and ask. A lot of people here can probably compare the two parks better than I can. ;)

Mare - Enjoy that Itunes store!!! I LOVE IT and I am so bad at techie stuff, but I have no trouble at all with Itunes. It's so much fun.:goodvibes The Bachelor is lame. I am kind of not into it. I dropped off and lost interest before the final rose ceremony.:rotfl:

We stayed at the DLH. It was pretty nice....the pool was large & fun with a cute Peter Pan Neverland theme, the lobby was neat - cute and charming - Goofy snuck up on us while we were checking in. The restaurant with Goofy's Kitchen is a great character meal. The real problems I had with the hotel: the blankets were threadbare & even holey. The towels were thin, dingy gray vs. white, the bathroom was like 1960s OLD and rundown. I am almost 6 ft tall...the shower head was at my shoulder. Kind of weird. The room was nice and large though and we had a view of the pool. Oh! Housekeeping was very nice. DD lost a tooth and they saw that I left something that clued them in....they left a balloon bouquet and box of sugar cookies without me even mentioning a thing. I was really impressed with the DL CMs. VERY much so. I didn't book club level because they don't have the IPO or other preplanning staff that the WDW resorts have and I knew we'd be out enjoying the place vs hanging in the hotel. That was the right thing, too.... I nixed the GCH because it's like my house. Same style. I don't want that on vacation. Then there was the deal with the person sleeping on the floor for $750.:rotfl: That rate was a club level room I originally booked. I also was told by CMs that the rooms at GCH are only about 250 sq ft. THAT would make me nuts. That's like a walk in closet for peak rates. No thanks. Honestly when we go again we will probably stay DLH again because we really enjoyed walking b/f thru DTD and it was charming - just not luxurious - or even maybe stay off site at a Sheraton. I don't care for Paradise Pier and for the GCH rates I'd want to be thrilled with the place. I might be but I am nervous to chance it...those small rooms turn me off. We were in the parks everyday ALL DAY for 5 days. I was soooo tired and achy morning and night because we were maniacs trying to see the whole thing but we had SO MUCH FUN. I think 7 days would be nice....I'd like longer.:thumbsup2 It was a WONDERFUL vacation.:goodvibes If I can find pics I will post some tomorrow!!!! We met our friends from AZ there and they stayed off site at a Holiday Inn and had a great/easy time getting b/f. so it makes me think of maybe offsite next time, too.

:)

OMG that's so small for a deluxe resort!!! I read on Allearsnet.com that it's 353 sq feet for standard, that's still the size of a WDW moderate room.

The DLR doesn't sound deluxe with an old bathroom and skimpy towels and linens. I'd throw a fit if I found that! Ooh, I'm not into that wilderness theming of GCR but if it's new and luxurious, then I might have to go with it. DH likes luxurious on vacation. I can go for charming, not him. He'd complain. I can hear him now "you dragged me 3,000 miles for this dump!":rotfl:

That is so sweet they gave your DD balloons and cookies! That is so the Disney magic you expect at a disney resort!:thumbsup2

DH would stay 10 days, would that be too much?? Just how small is everything? I know you can get around easily. But how large is the CA park? Can you do it in a day?

If you know of any detailed websites on DL, PM me. There's so much more info on WDW, DL is very lacking, so I'm finding.

Oh remember you suggested the tuxedo strawberries for DH for Father's Day? When should I order them? Do I call GF private dining or GF bakery? I'm thinking of getting a chocolate Mickey with it. We're down to 68 days and counting!!

Can't wait to see your DL photos!
Mare

Ooooh, no bunk beds :scared1: My kids are too young!

These are really bad choices they give you:

a) roomy and old

b) small and new

I don't like either!

Maybe if we get a tower view in the DLR DH would like it. He's all for fireworks views :lmao:

It doesn't look very "resorty". It looks congested being right on the street. We're used to congested, we live in Manhattan :lmao: I don't need a golf course or resort amenities, I just wanted luxury but I'll have to go with "Charming". I'm really surprised to discover this out.

I just want to have enought time to see everything, not be rushed, but also not get bored. Maybe 7 days is enough. You also have to factor in jet lag so maybe 10 days??

See why I need a year to plan this trip!:rotfl2:

You ladies will be trying to get me banned by August you'll be so sick of DL talk!!:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

Good morning ladies! I fell off the WW wagon yesterday so I am determined to get back on track today. Can anyone point me to a good site for recipes with point values?

DD3 did just fine at her first day at Montessori. She then told me she was not going to go today so I am sure it is going to be a super morning! I hope everyone has a good day!!

Good luck to everyone on WW!
Vanessa:)

On a happy note, DH surprised me with an Ipod Nano Saturday night! :woohoo:

I have one more bit of fun news, I talked DH into going to DISNEY LAND for our 10th anniversary in May 2009!!:woohoo: :yay: :woohoo: :yay:

Don't forget to set your recorders for Friday night at 9pm on Travel Channel "Samantha Brown's Disney Favorites". She goes to both Disney Land and Disney World!

First of all I love my IPOD!!! I have a Bose system thats great and I have wireless outdoor speakers that it can play off of. The accessories are unlimited. I use in my car for long trips when my DS has basketball tournamets. My kids have the IPOD video that they use on the plane and in the car (priceless)!!:goodvibes

Congrats on the trip to DL, I have always wanted to see California not to mention DL. I can't wait to at least learn as much as I can along with you and then I'll be prepared!!!:teacher:

Also, thanks I just Tivod the travel channel for Friday evening!!:woohoo:

Those are cute and I'll give a try!!!:thumbsup2

There is an Annette's Diner in DL, I want to call DL to see if they sell merchandise!! I want a T!!

Someone has to teach me how to multiquote!!! PLEASE!!!

Annette
I can't do that either!!:confused3 Somebody had to show me how to cut and paste...and I've already forgotten what she wrote. I need to go back in this thread and write down the instructions so I can change my vaca ticker or make a new one!

To multiquote, go to the bottom of the specific message that you want to include in the multiquote, and hit the button immediatly to the right of the button that says QUOTE. The button that you should hit is the one that looks like a tiny document with quotation marks (") in the upper right hand corner and a plus sign (+) in the lower right hand corner. This button will turn red when you hit it. Hit this button on each message that you want to quote. When you get to the final message that you wish to quote, hit the button that says QUOTE instead of the smaller button. You will then be taken to the screen where you can compose messages. :) . These messages will all be quoted seperatly (but in the same message), so you can easily insert any text you desire between them without breaking up the quiotes!

You can easily copy and paste in two different ways. The first way is to hold down your left mouse button and drag it across the text that you wish to copy. If this is done correctly, the text will be highlighted. Then, you can hit CTRL and C at the same time. Next, go to the screen that you wish to copy the text onto and hit CTRL and V at the same time.

The second way to copy and paste is to again drag your mouse over the text you wish to copy while holding down the left mouse button, highlighting this text. Then, release the left mouse button and move your mouse pointer to somewhere WITHIN the highlighted text (this will not work is the pointer is not on a highlighted area). With the pointer over the highlighted area, click your right mouse button. A small menu will appear. Choose "COPY". Next, go to the screen that you wish to copy the text onto. Place your mouse pointer where you would like the text to appear. Hit the right mouse button again and a small menu will appear. Choose "PASTE".

Morning ladies! :flower3:

Annette: We have the Ipod car attachment, DH uses it. I have to learn how! We have the ITower which sounds amazing, again, I don't use it DH does!:lmao: I'm so new to this world of Ipods! We have a bose radio in the car, you really can hear the difference in quality. Doesn't the GF have bose radio docking stations?

I'm so confused as to which resort to stay in at DL. DH wants the GCR, I'd really like the DLH. I think DH will like the spacious rooms, high floors of a tower and possibly a good view of the DLH. But I know he'll hate an old bathroom:eek: He likes that the GCR is new and modern. I have to show him lots of photos and tell him all the pros and cons of each one. I'm not selecting this myself then getting there and having him blame me for something!:rotfl2:

I'm kind of surprised he's really excited about the DL trip.:goodvibes

I asked him last night on a whim, wanna go to WDW again in Sept with the free dining? He said sure book it. It came to (with air) about $1,500 all inclusive in a moderate for 5 days for our family. So I figured, quick inexpensive WDW vacation. Well, DH said yes book it but I want to upgrade to a deluxe resort, upgrade to deluxe dining plan (we've never done any dining plan before) and I want park hopper passes - he wants the entire cheap package upgraded!:rotfl: Nope. We'll put the money towards our DL trip. I was just trying to go on the cheap, not upgrade to a major vacation. He wasn't having it :rotfl:

Gotta go grocery shopping. I find I eat so much on WW! We're out of food already and I went to the supermarket only last Thursday! Usually, we can make it one full week!:)

Have a great day everyone!
Mare

Morning Ladies! I fell off the diet wagon big time yesterday, cake, candy, and more cake...... UGH! I just finished my healthy mushy oatmeal and I am determined to be a good girl today! By the way the Podcast board has started a support group for dieters called Wonders!

Great Pete Rant today about the increase in stroller rentals! Gotta love his rants!
